Path of the Sun Chaser

As they walk through the door they could see many people walking around, selecting different technique books, some were studying them, revising them or writing comments in them.

There was even a training hall connected to the library to practice them.

"I thought no one was allowed in the treasure vault?" Ray mentioned questioningly while surprised by the amount of people. A quick glance to his side revealed he was the only one who was taken aback by this. 

"Yeah, but this isn't the vault." Belle quickly commented.

"Father has access to anywhere in the kingdom through the vault doors, including the sole technique library in the kingdom: Hope academy's grand technique library." She spoke with obvious reverence in her voice.

"Since you know much about this place princess, help Raven find the technique books she's looking for. I will take Ray and Pram to the unique technique area." The King directed and then bid then good luck on finding what they wanted. 

They walked toward non-element section, while The King lead the other two towards the unique technique area.

When they reached the area, Ray was surprised to see the amount of technique books was countable, only adding up to 28. They each neatly placed on elegant pedestals around the circular room with two tables in the middle.

Seated at one of the tables was a crystal ball.

This ball was a kin to the crystal balls used to find awakeners. The difference is it also accessed awakeners by pulling mana from their body to read the flow of mana.

An added benefit was being exponentially more clear then the tester ball, allowing anybody to read them. 

"Go ahead place your hand onto the crystal ball. It will help you find a suitable technique." The King says gesturing to the ball.

Although it would help Ray the King was mainly doing this to see his class and energy type.

Ray was so young that he had yet to participate in an awakening ceremony, which the King has watchers take part to report any prodigies, not unlike Ray. 

Ray agrees and goes over and sets his hands on the crystal ball, for a few seconds nothing happened then, unexpectedly his body began to light up. The light was brightest on his hands and forearms.

This not only catches the attention of King and daughter alike, but shocks them beyond belief. 

"Free flow... mana circulation!" The King says mouth a gap. 

"A.. As. ascension... grade potential!" Pram manages to utter.

"LAW CLASS!" They both yell at the same time. Lucky enough this room was made with nearly perfect soundproofing to help people focus on study. 

Complete, absolute shock was present in both their faces as both law class and ascension grade potential with very few having one or the other let alone both.

Ray realizing what he had showed quickly lifted his hands of the crystal ball and at the moment another phenomenon occurred.

Lines of pure mana continued to connect Ray to the crystal ball, as vast amount of runes starts to appear along the surface. They continued to circle the ball for a minute before finally releasing the connection to him. 

Although Ray had a slight understanding of the runic language the runes that appeared evaded comprehension. The only word he could make out was "Sun" which was the most frequent of the runes. 

"OUTSTANDING! VERY OUTSTANDING!" The King bellows with a booming voice. 

"Ray, to say you are a talent or prodigy would undermine your abilities. I no longer doubt you are capable of protecting my daughter. To gain the law class and have ascension grade potential is already one in a million but to also have free flow mana is legendary among the myriad of humans." The King compliments with pride in his voice. 

Although it was luck to gain ascension grade potential, the law class was due to Arthur's arrogant nature taking affect of their energy.

( The free flow mana circulation was also a result of Arthur's actions as mana natural circulates through a baby's body to create a flow type, since this is when the body is most malleable. Arthur thought to experiment with Ray by creating flow consciously, resulting in free flow. )

With a whole different demeanor the King walks around the room with Ray introducing each unique technique and giving a brief summary.

His explanations though were subpar compared to how Arthur explained things using thought giving intricate detail, listing pros and cons, and giving imagined visualization within seconds of asking. It was like comparing a children's book to an in-depth documentary.

This made it hard for Ray to pick out a technique. 

After an hour has passed Ray finally narrowed his choices down to 3. Seeing Ray struggle to choose between them the King decided to invest in and help Ray by allowing him to choose 2.

Of course this wouldn't of happened had it been for Ray's extraordinary talent.

Hearing this relieved him greatly and quickened the picking process. The 3 techniques Ray struggles to choose between are...

[ Mana devouring - This technique directs increases mana flow to the core and attempts to overfeed the core in order to increase the bodies natural absorption. ]

[ Tree flow - This technique guides mana flow out of body and through the ground and to another area to create a mana well connected to the user to absorb or release mana. ] 

[ Energy blade - This technique teaches practitioner to focus their mana into a blade or into an object to create a blade. ] 

There are obvious benefits to each one however each had drawbacks.

For [mana devouring] practice causes extreme pain since it requires depriving cells of mana long enough for them to draw more in, until you mastered the perfect amount.

[Tree flow] was even harder since it required serious concentration and for one to be incredible still while manipulating mana outside of the body. 

The last one, [energy blade] was the easiest of the three however it required densely packing mana into one spot until it acts like a physical object then manipulating that mana to move with the body.

Obviously the amount of energy control was immense.

After a long deliberation with much focus on his current abilities, Ray decided to pick the last two. 

[Tree flow] since he was adept at controlling solar energy outside his body and [Energy blade] because he had a weapon that could help his practice of the technique. 

With his techniques picked out, he tossed them into his storage ring and the three of them departed reuniting with Raven and Belle.

They were sitting at a table studying the technique books they had selected, while talking with an older student who knew about the techniques.

It came as an obvious surprise to the student when the King came to collect the two girls. A greater surprise was the two finding out about Ray's outstanding talents.

Raven was steeped with pride but envy also grew in the back of her mind not unlike a certain princess.

With nothing left to do the siblings met back with their father and headed home. Ray was given three weeks to prepare and say his goodbyes. 

The first day back word quickly got out about his talent to his Mother and Father.

This drove them to host a family dinner and not only a family dinner but the first they've had in many years.

Compared to their demeanor prior the siblings were a lot kinder to Ray, and he was less arrogant talking to them.

The next two weeks were spent training as usual, while a slight difference was now his older sister Rebecca was training him like promised.

Although she wasn't familiar with the Law class, her class was a technique class called [Star cell], which was something rare among technique classes since it increased elemental capacity in cells.

While she wasn't teaching him, she wrote down what she knew about the technique while Ray practiced his [Tree flow].

When the time came to depart he was now [Rank-C {advanced stage}]. He said he goodbyes to his family which he now felt closer with and set out to the capital.
