One Piece: My Name is Jack, I'm Very Resistant to Beating

Chapter 51: Chapter 51: The Name of the Drought

"Jack-sama?"

Jack stared down at Raul's lifeless body with an expression of deep sorrow. Rim, standing nearby, felt a chill run down his spine at the sight.

"Hmm… It's fine! Let's move on!"

After a moment of mourning, Jack suddenly brightened up. A new idea had clearly struck him. He'd found yet another way to exploit a loophole. The kingdom of Wetna no longer required his attention, but there were still two other nations left. Surely they had a few more strong warriors?

Even if their strength didn't match Raul's, quantity could always compensate for quality!

When the time came, he'd round them all up and release them at the port. Jack's booming laughter echoed through the castle halls.

Rim hesitated for a moment, deliberately letting the group pull ahead to put some distance between herself and Jack.

The castle was overflowing with provisions—fresh vegetables, ripe fruits, all sorts of meats, and an impressive stockpile of fine wines. Jack didn't stand on ceremony, ordering the remaining servants who hadn't fled to prepare a grand feast.

After indulging in a gluttonous meal, Master presented Jack with a piece of paper. Jack skimmed it quickly and, seeing the names of dozens of individuals listed, his eyes lit up with delight.

"So many strong fighters in these two kingdoms?"

"What's their strength like?"

Master's expression turned serious as he replied, "They're definitely no weaker than me."

"Hey! What's with that look? I'm strong, okay?!" Master protested.

When Jack remained silent, Master's frustration grew.

"Why aren't you saying anything? Do you want me to grab a sword and prove it?"

Thud!

A spiked club embedded itself in the ground by Master's feet, silencing him instantly. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he struggled to pull the weapon free. Bowing low, he handed the club back to Jack and stammered, "Jack-sama, you're absolutely right. My earlier tone was out of line. My sincerest apologies!"

Jack accepted the weapon, giving Master a firm pat on the shoulder. He leaned in close and said in a low voice, "Watch your attitude. If you keep forgetting your place, I'll have Rim gelded."

(T/N: gelded - having the testicles removed)

"No, please!" Master cried, glancing at Rim, who was peacefully asleep nearby. Jack flashed a sinister smile.

"You wouldn't want your beloved spouse to become a hunter without his spear, would you? So…"

"I'll do anything you ask! Just don't harm him!" Master pleaded, his face full of desperation.

Jack turned away, gagging slightly. "Ugh…" He spent several moments retching before his head finally cleared. Watching Master gaze adoringly at Rim, Jack closed his eyes, unable to bear the sight.

"Master! Restrain yourself!"

"Of course, Jack-sama," Master replied, wiping his mouth and reluctantly pulling his gaze from Rim.

"Jack-sama, regarding the names on that list, none of them could hope to rival Raul."

"The reason Wetna could hold its own against the alliance of the Aer Kingdom and Cusa Kingdom was largely thanks to the Raul brothers. Now that you've eliminated them, the remaining fighters are no match for you."

"However…" Master hesitated, his face clouding with concern. Jack's impatient glare urged him to continue.

"It might still be difficult to conquer both kingdoms," Master admitted.

Jack's brow furrowed. "Why? Didn't you just say there are no strong warriors left?"

"Once those who resist are dealt with, the common folk will be easy to control! And besides, don't you have your own reputation here?"

Master wiped the sweat from his brow, looking sheepish.

"Well, my reputation is indeed well-known, but most of it is infamy. Since I've refused to treat the poor, the majority of commoners despise me."

"Also, although the so-called Eternal Life Ritual I devised has temporarily halted hostilities between these nations, it's only a stopgap measure. The corrupt rulers of these lands ignore the grievances of their people, assuming the commoners would never dare to rise up."

"But I see it differently. I've long noticed the resentment brewing among the populace. After years of war, even the alliance between the Aer Kingdom and Cusa Kingdom is rife with unresolved hatred."

"That's why I accelerated the timeline for the Eternal Life Ritual. Otherwise, I wouldn't have abandoned this kingdom and its treasures so easily."

Jack's frown deepened as he snapped, "Stop rambling and get to the point!"

"My point is," Master explained nervously, "the greatest obstacle to conquering the Aer Continent isn't the warriors—it's the common people."

"The commoners?" Jack repeated, his voice tinged with disbelief. Then he burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! The commoners?"

Jack's laughter abruptly stopped. Fixing Master with a cold gaze, he said quietly, "In this world, the weak have no right to choose—not even hatred."

"If they dare resist, it only proves one thing:"

"That I've been too merciful."

Though Jack's tone was calm, a cold sweat drenched Master's back.

Hedarn, meanwhile, hadn't betrayed Jack's expectations. After receiving Jack's message, he swiftly consolidated control over the Wetna Kingdom and was crowned the new king with his family's support.

Jack's implicit approval had emboldened Hedarn to assure the nobles he would not repeat the mistakes of his predecessor, Henry VI. This promise, coupled with widespread discontent toward the former king's indulgent lifestyle, secured Hedarn's position.

Upon Jack's command, Hedarn declared war against the two neighboring kingdoms, rallying the populace by announcing the full support of the Beasts Pirates. Citizens eagerly enlisted, ready to support Jack's campaign.

However, when Hedarn and his troops arrived at the capital of the Aer Kingdom, Brak, they were met with an unimaginable sight.

Panicked commoners fled in all directions, utterly ignoring the heavily armed soldiers. They charged forward as if something terrifying were chasing them.

"What…?"

"Brak… what happened here?!"

The once-thriving city of Brak had vanished entirely. The gates that had withstood countless sieges were gone, as were the buildings that housed tens of thousands. Nothing remained but a desolate, cracked wasteland.

Through his telescope, Hedarn spotted a colossal mammoth raging across the barren land. The setting sun bathed the scene in crimson light, casting an ominous glow behind the beast.

"Is this… Jack-sama's true power?" Hedarn murmured in awe.

"First 'Conflagration' King, then 'Plague' Queen…"

"It seems the Beasts Pirates have yet another extraordinary commander in their ranks."

Watching the devastation, Hedarn couldn't help but exclaim, "To destroy a city single-handedly… it's as if he's the living embodiment of drought itself."

"Wherever he goes, it's like the scourge of a drought follows."
