One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Is This Guy Out of His Mind?

After an in-depth discussion with Queen Otohime about the intricacies of Observation Haki, Wright gathered a wealth of valuable insights.

Following extensive experimentation with his own Observation Haki, Wright successfully developed an unprecedented ability—Marking.

Perhaps influenced by the Holy Light's power, Wright's newly awakened ability allowed him to utilize Observation Haki in a way never seen before.

The practical effect was similar to a "friend-or-foe identification system." Wright could cast his buffs and abilities specifically on targets marked with his Observation Haki, while unmarked individuals remained unaffected.

"This is it! I've officially become a full-blown party healer…" Wright muttered, realizing he was speeding down the path of an ultimate support role and couldn't stop even if he wanted to.

"Hmm, but there's another application I've been pondering for a while but couldn't quite achieve…"

Wright sought out Jinbe. "Jinbe, I need your help testing an idea I have about my abilities."

"Oh?" Jinbe, who had witnessed Wright's formidable powers firsthand, nodded in curiosity. "Another healing skill?"

"Well... you could call it a buff," Wright said, marking Jinbe with his Observation Haki. As he stomped the ground, a golden, shield-shaped aura appeared beneath his feet, radiating brilliantly.

"What's this…?" Jinbe noticed a smaller version of the same shield-shaped aura forming under his feet. He felt a subtle but tangible increase in his skin's defensive strength.

"Guardian Aura!"

Before Jinbe could respond, two more golden auras appeared under Wright's feet—one hexagonal and the other circular.

"Vigor Aura!"

"Mercy Aura!"

Jinbe found two more miniature auras forming under his feet. His thoughts felt sharper, more agile, and calmer, while a warm, soothing power enveloped him. It felt strikingly similar to Wright's healing energy!

"These effects… Amazing! This is the romance of a true paladin!" Wright exclaimed in satisfaction as he admired the rhythmic radiance of the auras, enhancing defense, mind, and healing simultaneously—a genuine buff machine!

"What an incredible power…" Jinbe wiped a sweat from his brow, feeling the enhancements provided by the triple auras. If a Marine Vice Admiral commanding an army mastered such an ability...

This could outright change the course of a battle!

If every Marine soldier received the triple aura buffs, their overall strength would leap by an entire tier, and the larger the force, the more terrifying the effects.

"Not bad!" Wright nodded in satisfaction. The buffs provided by the auras were modest but consumed very little energy. The coverage radius extended up to 100 meters, and even with large numbers of recipients, it wouldn't significantly drain him.

"This is a game-changer for large-scale skirmishes. I love it!"

Just as Wright was about to ask Jinbe to gather some soldiers for a broader test of the aura's group enhancements, a royal guard hurried over with a report.

"Boss Jinbe! King Neptune urgently requests your and Vice Admiral Wright's presence at the palace to discuss a pressing matter!"

"What happened?" Jinbe frowned and turned to Wright.

"Let's go. We'll find out when we get there," Wright said, nodding. "Though if I've also been summoned… could someone be injured?"

Jinbe's expression grew serious as he quickly led Wright toward the palace.

"Your Majesty! What happened?"

When Jinbe and Wright arrived, they found Queen Otohime, the three princes, and Princess Shirahoshi all gathered around Neptune.

"Is someone hurt?" Wright stepped forward to check but found no signs of injury.

"Well, no…" Neptune coughed awkwardly, clearly embarrassed by the situation.

"Jinbe, Vice Admiral Wright, I actually need your help with… a personal matter," Neptune finally admitted after a glance at Queen Otohime, whose usually gentle smile was replaced by a rare look of anger. She shot Neptune a glare.

"What's there to be embarrassed about? This needs to be resolved!" Queen Otohime declared firmly.

"Ahem…" Seeing Jinbe and Wright's increasingly puzzled expressions—and the blank stares of his three sons—Neptune explained, "Over the past few days, Shirahoshi has been receiving letters."

"Letters?" Wright raised an eyebrow, his expression growing more peculiar. "Don't tell me…"

"They're… love letters!" Neptune admitted, his face reddening beneath his thick beard. "But that's not the main issue! Shirahoshi is only six years old—what's troubling is how these letters are delivered!"

"Love letters?!" Queen Otohime interrupted, visibly furious. "This is outrageous! My Shirahoshi, my little angel! She's so young, yet someone dares harbor such despicable thoughts… This Vander Decken must be captured!"

"Vander Decken?!"

Jinbe's puzzled expression turned to shock at the name. "You mean the rumored captain of the legendary ghost ship Flying Dutchman? A descendant of the infamous phantom pirates?"

"Yes, they've apparently been pirates for generations," Neptune confirmed. "I recall Arlong once inviting him to join his crew, but he refused."

"This guy's ambitions must be sky-high if he refused Arlong's offer simply because he 'didn't want to work under anyone else.' And now he dares target Princess Shirahoshi?!" Jinbe's tone grew sharp.

"Well…" Wright interjected. "More than the letters' content, I'm curious about how they're being delivered. How is a pirate like Vander Decken bypassing the palace guards?"

Wright already had a faint recollection of who Vander Decken was. This individual had grand ambitions, but given Wright's current relationship with Fish-Man Island, he wasn't sure how Neptune planned to handle this.

"Does he think he's fit to become the consort of Poseidon? That delusional creep must be out of his mind!"

"Shirahoshi says the letters follow her wherever she goes—there's never anyone suspicious nearby," Queen Otohime explained, clearly distressed.

"To prevent any accidents, I've already moved Shirahoshi to the Hard-Shell Tower—the most heavily fortified structure in the Ryugu Kingdom. Yet the letters still manage to appear on the tower's roof. Whenever Shirahoshi comes out, they trail after her."

Neptune sighed heavily. "If these letters were anything other than paper… I can't even imagine the consequences…"

"So, Your Majesty, you want us to capture Vander Decken?" Jinbe asked, stepping forward. "I'll do everything in my power!"

"Vice Admiral Wright, your Observation Haki is stronger than ever," Jinbe turned to Wright. "We'll need your help as well."

"Of course, I'm very interested in this case," Wright said, nodding. "This bizarre ability reminds me of a Devil Fruit…

"If my hunch is correct, Vander Decken, despite being a Fish-Man, likely can't swim. That'll make capturing him much easier."
