One Piece: Holy Light Swordmaster

Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Overflowing Sincerity

"At the time, he specifically mentioned it—after what happened with Tiger, can the hatred between races really be resolved so easily?"

"I naively thought that if I could secure a signed decree from the Celestial Dragons, time would eventually smooth everything over. But clearly, Vice Admiral Wright saw the situation far more clearly than I did."

"Perhaps it's precisely because of this foresight that he predicted I might encounter danger while bringing back the hope of peaceful coexistence with humans. That's why he sent me a life-saving tool in advance and even came personally, under the guise of a private visit."

"If nothing had happened to me, perhaps this would have just been a routine vacation for Vice Admiral Wright. But if his prediction came true..."

Queen Otohime softly concluded, "Then it would become what we see now."

"There's no doubt," she continued, "that Vice Admiral Wright's actions are bringing humans and Fish-Man Island closer together."

The Left Minister added, "From the results alone, this is an outcome beyond anything we could have ever imagined—public sentiment toward humans has reached an unprecedented high!"

"Just one person..." The Left Minister sighed, "and his impact is greater than all of our efforts over the years!"

"In that case..." King Neptune said gravely, "let's have an earnest conversation with Vice Admiral Wright. I don't think he will refuse."

...

After a Ryugu Kingdom internal meeting concluded with a decision to speak with Wright, Neptune had Jinbe invite him over following the final day of his free medical clinic.

Wright wasn't surprised that Neptune and the others were cautious about his intentions—it was only natural. In fact, if Neptune hadn't noticed anything, it would've called his competency as a king into question.

Wright admitted his motives without hesitation, speaking with ease: "There are a few reasons behind my actions.

"First, as Her Highness Otohime has guessed, I judged that she might face danger—most likely after the people of Fish-Man Island learned about the results of her journey to the surface.

"That's why I gave her that pendant—not only to protect Her Highness but also to ensure that even if I wasn't present, its Lightforged Crystal could treat her injuries in time."

With a faint smile, Wright added, "And as for coming here under the guise of a vacation, I must admit, I had my own private reasons.

"You see, I possess an ability similar to Her Highness Otohime's—an advanced form of Observation Haki.

"However, Her Highness's mastery surpasses mine. She can even influence a target's emotions—something I wish to learn and discuss with her.

"For this reason, I had to come to Fish-Man Island personally. If my prediction about potential trouble turned out to be correct, I could rescue Her Highness immediately. And if I managed to save her, well, she might feel inclined to assist me in studying Observation Haki, wouldn't she? Haha..."

Neptune, Otohime, and Jinbe all smiled at this. For a Vice Admiral of Wright's caliber to express a desire to learn from Otohime, whose natural talent in Observation Haki was extraordinary, was entirely understandable.

"Even without a life-saving debt, I would gladly assist you," Otohime said warmly. "The insights you've shared about the challenges we've overlooked already prove you're a friend of Fish-Man Island."

"Then I thank you in advance, Your Highness." Wright bowed respectfully, prompting Otohime to hurriedly return the gesture.

"Now then, King Neptune, Queen Otohime, Jinbe—can I trust you all?"

The three exchanged solemn glances before Neptune spoke. "You are a friend of Fish-Man Island, the savior of Otohime, and a protector of her dream.

"You can trust us. Use your ability to discern our sincerity if you wish."

"This is just a matter of formalities," Wright chuckled. "Now that I've shown my sincerity, I believe we can temporarily trust each other."

Neptune nodded, and Wright continued, "The path toward Fish-Man Island's migration to the surface is fraught with challenges—ones that may take five years, ten years, or even longer to overcome.

"You've likely noticed that I don't have much regard for the Celestial Dragons. And among humanity, there are many who share my sentiments."

Neptune and Otohime exchanged looks, their eyes then shifting to Jinbe, who frowned deeply. "We've heard as much... What are you trying to say?" Neptune asked cautiously.

"For Fish-Man Island, if I manage to rise further in the future, I will fully support your peaceful coexistence with humans.

"But if the day comes when I need help, I hope Fish-Man Island can assist me to the best of its ability—without overstepping your limits, of course.

"I understand this is a difficult decision. So as a gesture of goodwill, and to show my sincerity, I am willing to offer payment in advance.

"I can dedicate one day each month to providing free medical care on Fish-Man Island, just as I've done over the past few days.

"You've already seen how such efforts could contribute to your migration plans."

"Vice Admiral Wright, are you suggesting..." Jinbe's voice trailed off in surprise.

"Hm? I didn't say I was planning anything specific," Wright replied calmly. "Plenty of people dislike the Celestial Dragons. What difference does one more make?"

"..."

The more you deny it, the more it seems true! Jinbe shook his head, suppressing the dangerous thoughts forming in his mind. Yet he couldn't help but imagine how exhilarating it would be if his suspicions were correct.

"I agree to your terms," Neptune said suddenly.

"Your Majesty!" Jinbe exclaimed, startled by the king's swift decision. Was he truly ready to tie Fish-Man Island's fate to an unknown future?

"Jinbe, you understand as well as I do—our greatest obstacle to peace with humanity is the Celestial Dragons," Otohime said gently.

"Moreover, the sincerity Vice Admiral Wright has shown us leaves us no room to refuse."

With a sigh, Jinbe relented. "Indeed... Vice Admiral Wright, I will act as Fish-Man Island's representative. You have my full support."

"Thank you, King Neptune, Queen Otohime. And thank you, Jinbe."

After agreeing on a monthly schedule for his medical visits and introducing the concept of the Lightforce Beacon, Wright was granted his own private quarters in Ryugu Castle—a perk of being Fish-Man Island's "Grand Healer."

With Jinbe's help, Wright quickly assembled and installed a Lightforged Beacon in his room, allowing for convenient travel during his monthly visits.

When Neptune, Otohime, and Jinbe witnessed Wright's ability to teleport across vast distances, their astonishment turned into quiet confidence.

If he possessed such extraordinary powers, what else might Vice Admiral Wright be capable of?
