Chapter 3: 3
Two completely different painting styles. If not for the familiar faces and locations, people from both sides would have thought these were entirely different worlds.
The original One Piece world was the first to react.
"What the hell! A banquet, a barbecue, singing and dancing! Don't tell me this is your Summit War?"
"If this is the Summit War, please let me die in that world instead."
"How dare they gather all the Marines for a party? Aren't they afraid the pirates will attack at any moment?"
"I'm so jealous. Why is ours a war while theirs is a grand festival? Why is the difference so vast?"
The Marines, covered in blood and sweat, looked at their counterparts in the other world—holding beer in one hand and barbecue in the other. Their willpower shattered.
There's no harm without comparison. How can they be fighting for their lives while the Marines in that world are celebrating? This battle no longer felt worth it.
Luffy stared in disbelief. In that world, he had become a Marine Admiral? Impossible. He had made a promise to Shanks—to find a crew that rivaled his, to become the Pirate King, and then to return the straw hat to him. Wait. Where was his straw hat? He suddenly realized that in the other world, he was wearing a Marine cap. The straw hat was nowhere to be seen. Where were his crewmates? Why weren't they there? Another thing caught his eye—why did the Luffy in that world have white hair?
No. Absolutely not. He froze in place. He knew his dream. He wanted freedom. He wanted to be the freest person on this ocean. There was no way he would become a Marine, no way he would dye his hair. Not even brainwashing could make that happen. Not even his grandfather's fists had been able to break his spirit. So how did the version of him in that world end up like this?
Sengoku was just as confused. He turned to Garp.
"What's going on with your family? You refused to be promoted beyond Vice Admiral in this world, so how did you become an Admiral there? And since when were you so close with your son? How did Dragon become an Admiral? And Luffy—how did you manage to raise two potential Marine Admirals and still end up with both of them as pirates?"
Garp's eyes widened. He knew his son and grandson well. No matter how he educated them, it never worked. Who had the power to change their entire mindset?
"Forget that for a second, Sengoku. Look at what Kizaru is holding."
Garp's expression became even more incredulous than when he saw Luffy as an Admiral.
Sengoku turned to look and almost fell off the execution platform.
"Marine Model Worker?"
"And… re-elected for ten years?"
He turned to the real Kizaru, who was slacking off at the edge of the battlefield. This was the man who found every possible excuse to avoid work. How was he a model worker in the other world? Sengoku refused to accept this.
Kizaru's mouth twitched as he stared at the screen.
"In that world… am I a model worker? Kill me now."
There was no way that version of him was normal. Even with a gun to his head, he wouldn't willingly work overtime. That version of him must have a screw loose.
Kaido, who was about to receive an award in the other world, suddenly saw his name appear in the top ten people who moved the world.
"I raised this damn child?"
He immediately coughed up blood.
"Boss Kaido! I never thought we and the Big Mom Pirates were part of the same family!"
"No wonder Katakuri looks so much like the boss," Jack said seriously.
Bang!
A mace landed on his head, knocking out one of his tusks.
Jack's bounty instantly dropped by fifty percent.
Shanks couldn't stop laughing.
That only made Kaido angrier, and the two resumed fighting.
Whitebeard, the key figure of the Summit War, remained puzzled. Where was he in that world?
"Dad! This is a golden opportunity to attack Marine Headquarters. Why aren't the pirates making a move?" Marco asked.
Whitebeard frowned. "That means there's someone there keeping everyone in check."
Marco's eyes widened in realization.
"Dad, do you mean the person responsible for making that world what it is?"
There had to be a reason for the drastic differences between the two worlds. Without a major variable, such an alternate reality wouldn't exist.
Meanwhile, in the present world, the Marines couldn't understand why the other world was still at war.
"Why are they still fighting Whitebeard? The Marines in that world are way too weak," Sengoku scoffed.
Garp's face darkened.
"Where's that bastard Dragon? Didn't he become a Marine? And Luffy—why did you turn into a pirate?"
"I come from a family of great generals, but…"
"How were they raised? Where's their discipline? Where's their sense of duty? Where are those two bastards? I'll break their legs."
Kizaru rubbed his temples. "I don't even want to watch my other self. Based on his behavior, I suspect he's an undercover agent. I suggest we arrest him for investigation."
Luffy frowned. "I never thought I'd become so depraved in another world… How did I end up as a pirate? He must have been led astray by someone."
"If he had met Commissar Robert from the start, he wouldn't have gone down this path. He wouldn't be this weak."
Through the screen, the two worlds could see each other clearly.
Now, both sides had countless questions.
Why was the other world so different?
They needed answers.
"Wait! We can send messages!"
The two Sengokus realized at the same time.
