Chapter 3: 3: Is It Too Much Purple?
Currently, Sora was standing in the office of the Marines Fleet Admiral. Sengoku sat tall behind his desk, he was a whopping 278cm tall (A/N: 156cm taller than Sora). His Justice coat hung on a coat rack right next to his seat. He had various medals clipped onto a red sash that went across his torso.
"You want him to be an official doctor under the Marines?" Sengoku asked Tsuru who was standing next to Sora. He never expected Tsuru of all people to ask for something seemingly illogical, that was more of Garp's thing.
"Yes, but if you think practical skills and experience are what he lacks then we can have him follow Nemu around as an apprentice." Tsuru knew that appointing someone under the age of 10 as an official doctor wasn't the most logical request. It would be disrespectful to some of the doctors that have been here for decades. It'd be like saying that a 7 year old became their equal.
Sengoku repeatedly tapped his finger on his desk as he thought about it. If Sora began apprenticeship under various doctors, they wouldn't be able to complain about his experience, but that wasn't the only problem. At his age, some of those arrogant doctors would be outraged to see Sora work alongside them. Though, Sora's apprenticeship would also solve that problem with time. Seeing no long lasting problems in Tsuru's suggestion, he finally agreed.
"Alright. Sora, you'll be an apprentice for now. For the next few years, you'll follow various doctors around. I hereby officially welcome you into the marines, Ensign Sora." Sengoku stood from his seat and walked in front of his desk. He reached out and shook Sora's hand. The serious look on his face was replaced with a gentle smile.
(Note: Sora was given the rank of Ensign and not Seamen Recruit because Ensign is the rank where you become an official Marine officer, and I'm pretty sure that when you get an assigned role like Instructor, Doctor, Inspector, and others, you are an official officer.)
"Please show him around Marineford, Tsuru. I don't have enough time to do so myself." Sengoku sat back down in his chair and waved as Tsuru and Sora walked out of his office.
Tsuru and Sora walked through the halls of Marineford. "We'll make our way toward the Marine training grounds, where you'll probably spend most of your time. On the way there, I'll show you our important facilities. You have some things to do after this so I'll make it quick." Tsuru looked at the watch on her wrist and checked the time.
Their first stop was the offices of important marines, they skimmed through the offices of the admirals and other important marines. Introductions were brief, only including his name and rank.
Their next stop was the Marineford Infirmary, he was going to meet the other doctors he'd be doing his apprenticeship under.
Sora had a small smile on his face as he made his way toward the Infirmary, he was excited to see the medical ward.
"You seem excited. I thought you'd be more depressed after....you know what happened." Tsuru had seen children who lost their parents before, and Sora didn't act like one, she expected less smiles and more crying. Sora thought for a moment, Tsuru wasn't wrong, he'd seen his fair share of orphaned children in his work with his mother. But, Sora had a feeling that he knew why he was different. He let out all of his grief back when he was at his home town. He's still deeply saddened by what happened, but he shed all his tears already.
When Sora's inner monologue ended, they had arrived at the Infirmary. The first person to greet him was the Head Doctor NemuNemu. "Ah! Sora, you made it!" Nemu exclaimed as she pulled Sora into a deep hug.
".....Definitely a BIG 'personality'." Sora thought to himself as a slight blush appeared on his cheeks, though it was once again just the observation of a doctor. Soon after, Nemu pulled away from the hug with a big smile. "Welcome to my domain! I'll be the one to take the lead while we're in the infirmary." Nemu exclaimed excitedly as she shot her arms out upward. Tsuru just quietly sighed to herself as she watched Nemu's childish antics.
Nemu started the tour with the patient's rooms. They didn't speak to any patients, but she did show him where patients were located and where they would be treated. Next, was the offices of the doctors. Nemu introduced him to a few doctors who were in their offices, which were not many. Introductions included his name, rank, and his apprenticeship under them. Some of the doctors were skeptical about his apprenticeship while others welcomed him with open arms, they thought it was refreshing to see an adorable kid hanging around.
Sora and Tsuru were following Nemu down a hall with dozens of doors when she stopped in front of one. Nemu turned to face them with a big smile on her face. Tsuru sighed quietly as she rubbed her temple. "Oh goodness....here we go."
"Hehe! Now let me show you my favorite part of the Infirmary....MY OFFICE!" Nemu exclaimed as she opened the door to her office and gestured them in excitedly. The office looked very purple. Purple furniture, purple equipment, purple decorations...purple everything. "Frankly, I think it's too much purple." Tsuru said. All the purple gave Tsuru a slight headache. "It is NOT too much purple! There is NO such thing!" Nemu exclaimed as she pouted.
Tsuru whispered under her breath. "And you wonder why I always call you to my office instead of coming to yours..."
"ANYWAY! Welcome to my office. This is where you'll be spending most of your time in the Infirmary for the next year." Nemu disregarded Tsuru's comment and continued the tour of her office.
Once the tour was over Tsuru and Sora left the Infirmary and continued toward the training grounds. "Don't mind Nemu. She may be childish, but she's also very trustworthy." Tsuru said as they walked.
