Naruto: The Jester of Chaos

Chapter 6: 6

The Stage is Set

After the intense confrontation with Sasuke, Naruto found himself restless. The quiet of the village under the twilight sky only made his blood stir with anticipation. Standing atop the Hokage Monument, he gazed at the sprawling streets below, his green eyes glinting mischievously.

"I've been far too good lately," Naruto muttered to himself, a smirk curling on his lips. His sharp demonic fangs gleamed ominously in the fading sunlight, a stark contrast to his boyish features. "Tonight's the perfect time for some fun. And I'll need a playmate… someone special."

His voice was low, almost a purr, as his fangs caught the last rays of the setting sun, casting eerie reflections on the nearby stone. The thought of chaos thrilled him, but there was something more, something specific he was waiting for. Until then, he had time to kill.

With a leap and a flourish of his coat, Naruto vanished into the shadows, his laughter echoing faintly through the empty streets.

Jonin Headquarters: The Selection Process

Inside the Jonin Headquarters, a group of elite ninja sat around a long wooden table. The atmosphere was heavy with discussion as Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage, listened intently. At the head of the table stood Shikaku Nara, the Jonin Commander, his usual laid-back demeanor slightly more serious.

"Asuma's team is already decided," Shikaku began, his tone straightforward. "Ino, Choji, and Shikamaru will form his squad."

Asuma Sarutobi gave a small nod, a cigarette dangling from his lips.

Kurenai Yuhi, sitting with her arms crossed, leaned forward. "I'd like to take Shino Aburame, Kiba Inuzuka, and Hinata Hyuga," she stated. "Their abilities complement each other well, Shino's analytical skills, Kiba's tracking, and Hinata's Byakugan will make for a versatile team."

Hiruzen smiled approvingly. "A sound decision. And you, Kakashi?"

Kakashi Hatake, reclining casually in his chair with a book in hand, didn't look up. "I'll take Sasuke Uchiha."

Shikaku raised an eyebrow. "Not surprising. You're the only one with the Sharingan who can properly mentor him. But what about the others?"

The room fell silent for a moment as the other Jonin discussed their preferences, with Sakura Haruno and Naruto Uzumaki notably absent from any selections.

"I'll pass on Naruto," one background Jonin admitted reluctantly. "He's too much of a handful, always causing trouble. No discipline."

Another chimed in, "Agreed. He's more of a liability than an asset. And then there's… whatever that is."

The group exchanged uneasy glances, clearly referencing Naruto's otherworldly features.

Kurenai frowned slightly but remained silent. Asuma blew out a puff of smoke, his expression unreadable.

"Kakashi," Shikaku interjected, "if you're taking Sasuke, you might as well take Sakura and Naruto. They'll balance each other out, and you're the only one capable of handling a team with their… unique dynamics."

Kakashi sighed, finally lowering his book. "Fine. I'll take them." His tone was nonchalant, but his visible eye gleamed with curiosity. "It'll be… interesting."

"Interesting is one way to put it," Shikaku muttered, shaking his head.

Hiruzen nodded in agreement, his pipe smoke curling into the air. "It's decided then. Kakashi, your team will consist of Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Naruto Uzumaki. I trust you'll do well."

Kakashi's eye curved into a lazy smile. "Of course, Hokage-sama. I'll whip them into shape in no time."

As the Jonin deliberated, Naruto roamed the village streets, his presence a storm waiting to break. With every step, he plotted minor acts of chaos, enjoying the rising whispers of confusion and annoyance from the villagers.

"A toppled cart here… a missing sign there…" Naruto mused, his sharp grin growing. "Just enough to keep them on their toes."

He knew tonight would bring more than mere mischief. His playmate, would soon make their make their move. Until then, he relished the little amusements that only he could conjure.

Nighttime

High above the village, Naruto lounged in his favorite chair, perched against the serene canvas of the night sky. He held a pair of binoculars to his eyes, a beverage in one hand and a bowl of popcorn resting on the armrest. His signature umbrella leaned casually against his seat, completing the picture of a man enjoying the best entertainment the village had to offer.

Through his binoculars, Naruto's sharp gaze fell upon his target, Mizuki. The silver-haired chunin crept near the Hokage's tower, his movements calculated and stealthy. A chuckle escaped Naruto's lips as he noticed Mizuki perform a transformation jutsu, his appearance shifting seamlessly into Naruto's own.

"Oh, this is rich," Naruto muttered, his fangs flashing as he grinned widely. "Mizuki-sensei, you're quite the schemer."

Taking another sip of his drink, Naruto continued narrating the scene to himself, his tone dripping with mock amusement. "You planned to trick me into stealing the forbidden scroll with promises of promotion? And when you couldn't, you decided to impersonate me and frame me for the theft instead. Tsk, tsk, such a bad teacher."

He wagged a finger playfully as though scolding Mizuki directly. "But too bad, Mizuki-sensei. You didn't account for me being here to ruin your little game."

Naruto's grin grew even more menacing, his green eyes glinting with mischief. With a flick of his wrist, he waved his umbrella in a mock salute before vanishing into the shadows.

Just as Mizuki prepared to infiltrate the tower, the world around him froze. His movements ceased mid-step, and the very air seemed to crystallize in place.

---

When Mizuki awoke, groaning and clutching his head, he found himself in a dark, eerie forest. The trees loomed like silent sentinels, and the moon cast long, ominous shadows on the ground.

Naruto knelt beside him, his expression a mix of worry and relief. "Thank goodness, Mizuki-sensei! I was so worried when I found you lying here unconscious."

Mizuki blinked, trying to regain his bearings. "What… where are we? What happened?"

Naruto straightened up, gesturing to the ominous surroundings. "The Forest of Death. I was wandering around when I found you knocked out cold."

Still groggy, Mizuki's mind raced. Despite the strange circumstances, he couldn't help but see an opportunity. Naruto was here, alone, and eager. Perfect for his plan.

"Say, Naruto," Mizuki began, his voice dripping with false friendliness, "how would you like to be promoted to chunin?"

Naruto's eyes lit up with feigned excitement. "Chunin? Really? What do I have to do?"

Mizuki leaned closer, lowering his voice conspiratorially. "It's simple. You need to sneak into the Hokage's tower, steal the forbidden scroll of sealing, and learn one of the jutsu inside. Do that, and you'll be promoted."

For a moment, Naruto played the part perfectly, his expression wide-eyed and eager. Then, without warning, his demeanor shifted. The excitement drained from his face, replaced by a smirk. "Yeah… no."

Mizuki's grin faltered, quickly replaced by a glare. "What did you say, you brat?"

Naruto grabbed his umbrella and lashed out, the blunt force sending Mizuki flying backward. The chunin crashed into a tree, coughing as he struggled to stand.

"You filthy brat!" Mizuki spat, his voice dripping with venom.

Naruto chuckled, twirling his umbrella like a cane. "And you're a filthy traitor, Mizuki-sensei."

Mizuki's eyes widened in shock.

Naruto's smirk grew sharper. "Oh, I know all about your little scheme. Did you really think you could outsmart me?"

Furious, Mizuki unsealed a demon wind shuriken from a scroll, gripping the massive weapon tightly. "You'll regret mocking me, you little runt!"

Naruto feigned surprise as the shuriken hurtled toward him. "Oh no! Whatever shall I do?" he exclaimed dramatically before catching the spinning blade in the center with his umbrella.

"Nice throw, Mizuki-sensei," Naruto teased, spinning the shuriken effortlessly before hurling it back. Mizuki barely managed to dodge, rolling to the side with a snarl.

"Stop fooling around!" Mizuki shouted, his frustration boiling over.

Naruto's grin widened as he opened his arms theatrically. "Come on, Mizuki-sensei. Let's turn that frown upside down and have some fun!"

---

Breathing heavily, Mizuki hesitated before a cruel smirk formed on his lips. "You know, Naruto, I've been wondering if you know why the village hates you."

Naruto tilted his head, his grin unfaltering. "Enlighten me."

"The Fourth Hokage sealed the Nine-Tails inside you!" Mizuki declared triumphantly. "You're the Nine-Tailed demon fox!"

For a moment, there was silence. Naruto stared at Mizuki, his expression unreadable. Even Kurama, deep within his seal, sweatdropped at the sheer absurdity of the statement.

Then Naruto doubled over with laughter. "Oh, that's rich! A demon? Absolutely!" He bared his sharp teeth and gestured to his long ears. "But the Nine-Tails? Nah, that's a hard pass. Try again."

"Shut up, you demon brat!" Mizuki roared, charging at him with unbridled rage.

As Mizuki lunged, Naruto raised a hand casually. Time froze once again.

In the frozen stillness, Naruto strode up to Mizuki and struck him hard across the face. When time resumed, Mizuki stumbled back, clutching his cheek in confusion.

"What just?" Mizuki began, but Naruto froze time again and delivered another blow.

Over and over, Naruto repeated the process, hitting Mizuki from different angles each time. By the fourth strike, Mizuki was left spinning in place, utterly bewildered.

Naruto stood a few feet away, twirling his umbrella and watching with an amused expression. "Come on, Mizuki-sensei. You're making this far too easy."

Mizuki growled, staggering to his feet. His eyes burned with fury as he prepared for another attack.

But Naruto merely chuckled, his grin never wavering. "Let's keep this going, sensei. The night is still young."
