Naruto: The Jester of Chaos

Chapter 5: 5

The Whisper of Chaos

---

Rumors of Mayhem

Zetsu emerged from the shadows in a hidden cave, his black and white halves speaking in unison. "Tobi, we've heard something interesting."

Tobi, seated on a large rock, turned slightly. "Speak."

"There have been... rumors," White Zetsu began, his voice tinged with amusement. "A man has been causing chaos around the world. Strange incidents, rebellions breaking out, entire nations being thrown into disarray. They call him Mephisto."

Tobi's visible eye narrowed beneath his mask. "Mephisto," he repeated, his tone laced with both curiosity and caution.

"You know him?" White Zetsu asked, tilting his head.

"I encountered him once... the night of the Uchiha massacre. That man isn't ordinary."

Black Zetsu's voice, darker and colder, interjected. "If he's involved in these incidents, it's no coincidence. He thrives on chaos."

Tobi's thoughts drifted to that fateful night. "Last time we met the man's power was destroying his body. If he has gained control over his powers than the threat he poses is immense"

White Zetsu grinned. "There's more. This Mephisto character is said to have been involved in Yagura's death."

Tobi's entire demeanor shifted, an icy rage seeping into the air. "Yagura's death set the Akatsuki's plans back three years. Without the Three-Tails, we've lost time we can't afford."

"He's unpredictable," Black Zetsu added, his voice like a hiss. "But we can't ignore him."

Tobi clenched his fist. "Find out everything about him. I want to know his next move."

---

Each member received tidbits of information about the mysterious figure disrupting the balance of power.

Pain, the Akatsuki leader, sat in silence as he considered the reports. "If this Mephisto continues unchecked, he may disrupt our plans further," he said.

Konan frowned, her sharp eyes scanning the information. "Should we eliminate him?"

"No," Pain replied. "Not yet. Let's observe. A man who sows chaos may become a valuable tool, or a dangerous foe."

---

Within Naruto's mindscape, the ominous figure of Mephisto stood before him. His sharp smile stretched wide as he adjusted his hat. The familiar theatricality in his movements remained unchanged, but there was a sense of finality in his tone.

"Well, my dear boy, it seems our little partnership has reached its end," Mephisto said, his voice dripping with amusement.

Naruto tilted his head. "You're leaving?"

Mephisto twirled his cane, stepping closer. "Indeed. I've had my fun. And you... you've been quite the entertainer. But now, it's time for you to step into the spotlight on your own."

Naruto's expression was unreadable, but his fists clenched at his sides. "What if I need you again?"

Mephisto's grin widened, his sharp teeth glinting. "Oh, I'll always be here, lurking in the shadows of your mind. But chaos is your game now, my boy. Enjoy it. Relish it. The world is your stage, and the chaos yet to come? Oh, it will be magnificent."

Naruto watched as Mephisto began to dissolve into the ether, his voice echoing one last time.

"Farewell, my boy. Don't disappoint me."

Graduation Day

The academy buzzed with whispers as students gathered for their graduation exams.

"Do you think Uzumaki will actually pass?" one student muttered.

"If he does, it'll be a disaster!" another whispered. "Imagine him as a ninja..."

Naruto sat at the back of the room, his usual grin plastered across his face. He leaned back in his chair, tipping his hat slightly. "Ah, the attention of the masses. Truly, I'm honored."

When his name was called for the taijutsu spar, Naruto strolled to the ring with a theatrical bow. His opponent, Kiba Inuzuka, cracked his knuckles.

"You're going down, Naruto," Kiba snarled, his usual cockiness on full display.

Naruto grinned, plucking a flower from his suit. "Careful, Inuzuka. A gentleman never underestimates his opponent."

The match began, and Kiba lunged forward with a flurry of punches and kicks. Naruto dodged with a mix of unorthodox movements and dramatic flair, twirling and sidestepping like a dancer.

Naruto magically took out a pie from his suit and threw it. The pie hit Kiba square in the face. The pie contained hot sauce

"Gah!" Kiba howled, clutching his eyes. "What the hell, Naruto?!"

The crowd erupted in laughter as Naruto struck a victorious pose. "A little spice for the today's entertainment!"

Despite his antics, Naruto half-heartedly passed all the tests. His written exam was scribbled with absurd doodles but contained just enough correct answers to scrape by. His shurikenjutsu demonstrated surprising precision, and his ninjutsu, while executed with dramatic flair, was flawlessly performed.

When the results were announced, Naruto chuckled at the murmurs of disbelief. "Ah, the weight of greatness," he mused.

As he donned his new forehead protector, he tilted his hat forward and smiled. "Let's see what chaos tomorrow brings."

---

The moment after the graduation exam, Naruto strolled through the academy grounds, his signature smirk plastered across his face. He spotted Sasuke walking ahead, his expression as cold and detached as ever. Closing the gap between them, Naruto leaned in slightly and whispered, "The massacre of your clan... was one magnificent sight."

Sasuke froze mid-step, his hands curling into fists. He turned sharply, glaring daggers at Naruto.

"What did you just say?" Sasuke demanded, his voice low and dangerous.

But Naruto had already darted off, his laughter echoing in the hallways. "Catch me if you can, Uchiha!"

Sasuke wasted no time, bolting after him with fury in his steps.

---

Mizuki stood near the academy's entrance, his eyes narrowing as he watched Naruto disappear down the corridor with Sasuke in pursuit. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, Mizuki clenched his fists.

"That brat..." he muttered under his breath. "I was supposed to use him tonight, but now he's off playing games."

His mind raced to formulate a new plan, his frustration growing with every passing second.

---

Naruto led Sasuke through the village, weaving through streets and alleys with ease. The chase finally ended in the Uchiha district. Sasuke stopped in the middle of the street, his breath heavy, as he glared at Naruto, who leaned casually against a crumbling wall.

"You think this is funny?" Sasuke growled.

Naruto tilted his head, feigning innocence. "Funny? Oh no, Sasuke, it's fascinating. Want to know why?"

Sasuke didn't respond, his glare hardening.

Naruto's smirk widened as he began recounting the events of that fateful night. His voice was calm, almost playful, as he painted a picture of bloodshed.

"Itachi was efficient, wasn't he?" Naruto said, a twinkle of dark amusement in his eyes. "He took out the adult men first, quick, clean, no hesitation. And then the masked man came, oh, he was a sight! He didn't discriminate, you know. Men, women, children... it didn't matter. Chaos, pure and simple."

Sasuke's fists trembled, his anger barely contained. But what unsettled him more was the twisted smile on Naruto's face as he spoke, as if the destruction of his clan was a source of joy.

"You're sick," Sasuke hissed.

Naruto's expression didn't waver. "Am I? Or am I just honest about what I enjoy?"

---

Sasuke's mind raced as Naruto's words began to connect dots he hadn't dared to consider. "Itachi... had helped?" Sasuke said aloud, the realization hitting him like a punch to the gut.

Naruto shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh, he did. Quite the team player, your big brother. Of course, the masked man was the real star of the show. That guy's a tough cookie."

Sasuke's glare intensified. "Why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you tell someone that night?"

Naruto raised an eyebrow, his smirk turning into a mockery of a frown. "Are you serious? Sasuke, you know everyone despises me. Why would anyone believe the demon brat?"

Sasuke hated to admit it, but Naruto was right.

Naruto's smirk darkened. "But the real reason I didn't bother? Simple. I love chaos. Watching everything fall apart? It's... thrilling."

"You bastard!" Sasuke roared, charging at Naruto with all the fury he could muster.

---

Naruto sighed as he raised his hand. With a snap of his fingers, the world around him froze. Sasuke was mid-strike, his newly activated Sharingan glowing in his crimson eyes.

"Well, would you look at that," Naruto mused, walking around the frozen Uchiha. "The little avenger finally awakened those famous eyes of yours. A moment to celebrate, truly."

Kurama growled from within Naruto's mind. "Finish him off, brat. The Uchiha are nothing but trouble."

Naruto chuckled softly. "Oh, shut up, furball. Why would I kill someone who promises so much... entertainment? He'll bring chaos in his own way, I'm sure of that."

He crouched in front of Sasuke's frozen form, studying his face. "You're going to learn the truth someday, Sasuke. And when you do, oh, I can't wait to see the destruction you'll cause."

Naruto's grin widened as he stood. "But for now, I'll leave you with this little victory."

With another snap of his fingers, time resumed, and Naruto vanished into thin air.

---

Sasuke stumbled forward, his strike hitting nothing but air. "Where did he go?" he muttered, looking around. His breathing was heavy, and his mind was clouded with anger and confusion.

Then, he noticed it. His sight had changed. His vision was sharper, and the world seemed to slow around him. He instinctively knew, he had awakened the Sharingan.

Clenching his fists, Sasuke made a silent vow. "Itachi... that masked man... I'll kill them both."

But his thoughts on Naruto lingered. Sasuke's opinion of him had eroded completely. If Naruto was capable of reveling in the destruction of his clan, he was a threat, a wildcard that couldn't be trusted.

As Sasuke walked to the Uchiha training ground, his determination burned brighter than ever. The path of vengeance was set, and there was no turning back.
