Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Sunagakure Retreats

"How is this possible? How can this brat use Rasa's ability?"

"Damn it, is this some kind of genjutsu? When did it happen?"

"Idiot! Do you really think all of us fell into a genjutsu at the same time? This is clearly Magnet Release!"

"What's going on? Could this brat in front of us actually be Rasa in disguise?"

"Are you kidding me?! Someone, explain what the hell is happening!"

The Sunagakure shinobi were utterly baffled as they watched Mirai wield Magnet Release.

In the entire shinobi world, Magnet Release was a Kekkei Genkai exclusive to Sunagakure shinobi. Yet, here stood a Konoha ninja wielding their sacred technique.

Some of the Sunagakure shinobi even began suspecting that this was all part of a secret exercise staged by their own village.

Facing the bewildered crowd, Uchiha Mirai clapped his hands together.

"Magnet Release: Gold Dust!"

In an instant, countless grains of gold sand surged forward, engulfing two hundred Sunagakure shinobi.

Moments later, a muffled sound echoed, and everything fell silent.

As the notifications in his mind chimed repeatedly, a wave of satisfaction surged within Uchiha Mirai.

Aside from some minor jutsu rewards, the battle had granted him a significant boost—147 points to his three main stats.

[Name: Uchiha Mirai]

[Physique: 571]

[Mental Strength: 562]

[Chakra: 574]

[Kekkei Genkai: Mangekyō Sharingan! Magnet Release: Gold Dust!]

[Jutsu: …]

[Other: Secret Technique: Puppet Technique!]

Examining his significantly bolstered stats, Uchiha Mirai touched his nose with a smirk.

This rapid growth felt exhilarating.

Without sparing a thought for the fallen Sunagakure shinobi, he set his sights on the next Sunagakure outpost.

...

Land of Wind

Border Region

At Sunagakure's main camp, the air was tense. Groups of Sunagakure shinobi gathered, their faces grim.

In the central wooden cabin, the village's upper echelon sat in deep frustration.

Among them, Chiyo's expression was particularly severe. Her sharp gaze swept over every shinobi present, her lips pressed tightly together.

In recent days, their outposts within the Land of Rain had been repeatedly attacked. In less than a week, nearly a thousand shinobi had been killed or injured.

For a force of just over thirty thousand shinobi, such losses were catastrophic.

Bang!

Chiyo slammed her palm onto the table, her glare sweeping across the room.

"How did this happen? Why have we suffered such devastating losses in such a short time?"

The question left the room in a heavy silence. Not a single shinobi dared to meet her eyes.

The oppressive atmosphere forced Ebizō to step forward.

"Sister, based on the traces left on some of the corpses, one of the attackers is definitely Namikaze Minato."

"The wounds caused by his Rasengan are unmistakable."

Chiyo's expression turned even colder. "Go on."

Ebizō hesitated briefly before continuing, his lips trembling.

"At the other sites, however, it was a completely different scene... no intact corpses were left behind."

Having inspected one of the devastated outposts himself, he vividly recalled the horrific aftermath. The ground had been littered with shredded flesh. Even with his vast experience in gruesome missions and wars, the sight had made his skin crawl.

Hell itself couldn't have been worse.

After hearing Ebizō's report, Chiyo's frown deepened with dissatisfaction.

"That's all?"

Ebizō opened his mouth but chose to remain silent.

Just as Chiyo was about to speak, a female shinobi raised her hand from the corner of the room.

"Pakura, do you have something to add?"

Pakura cleared her throat and glanced at Rasa before speaking cautiously.

"Based on my investigation, many of the attacked sites showed traces of large quantities of gold sand. The way those shinobi died strongly resembles injuries caused by Magnet Release."

"What are you implying?" Rasa's voice trembled.

He was the only shinobi in the world who could use Magnet Release: Gold Dust. Was she insinuating that he had betrayed the village?

"Silence," Chiyo commanded, cutting off Rasa's protest. She fixed her gaze on Pakura.

"Are you suggesting Rasa attacked our outposts?"

Pakura quickly lowered her head. "I'm merely reporting my findings. This must be the enemy's attempt to sow discord. I don't believe Rasa would ever betray the village."

Satisfied with her response, Chiyo didn't press further. Instead, she waved dismissively.

"That's enough for today. Effective immediately, no one is to leave the camp without express orders, except for essential reconnaissance missions."

"Yes!"

Once the others had left, Chiyo slumped into her chair, exhausted.

The war was spiraling out of control. In less than a year, Sunagakure had already lost over ten thousand shinobi.

The growing discontent among the villagers only added to the pressure.

Her dream of avenging Sunagakure against Konoha was slipping further away.

If things continued like this, was there any point in prolonging the war?

...

Konoha Camp

At the camp entrance, Namikaze Minato and Uchiha Mirai crossed paths, both looking travel-worn and still stained with blood.

The two exchanged a glance before Minato broke the silence with a grin.

"Mirai, how was your day?"

Mirai shook his head.

"Not great. The Sunagakure shinobi are starting to act like cowards, hiding in their shells."

Minato laughed heartily, clapping Mirai on the shoulder.

"Mirai, we owe you a lot. Thanks to your efforts, the tide has completely turned."

Ever since Mirai had joined the frontlines, the situation had shifted drastically.

Sunagakure's forces were now fully retreating to the Wind Country's border, abandoning all their outposts in the Land of Rain.

At this rate, Minato felt the war might soon be over.

Mirai raised a finger to his nose, his tone calm.

"Don't celebrate too early. Stay vigilant for a counterattack."

In truth, this outcome was exactly what he had anticipated.

By locating Sunagakure's outposts and unleashing his Gold Dust from the skies, he didn't even need to engage directly to wipe them out.

As for Minato, his mastery of the Flying Thunder God Technique and his lightning-fast reflexes made him nearly untouchable.

Sunagakure lacked any effective countermeasures against their relentless assaults.

Mirai predicted they'd eventually adopt Kumogakure's strategy of consolidating their forces to defend against ambushes.

When that happened, Sunagakure's only remaining option would be an all-out attack on Konoha.

And when they did, Mirai would finally have the chance to enjoy the battle to his heart's content.
