Chapter 109: The Journey Continues
In a clearing amidst the woods, Naruto stood firm as he commanded Kakuzu, "Universal Pull." Kakuzu was drawn towards him involuntarily, but before Kakuzu could retaliate with his resentment-infused black lines, Naruto countered with "Shinra Tensei," sending Kakuzu flying.
As Kakuzu was about to land, Naruto raised his fingers again, ready to unleash another Universal Pull. The sight of Naruto effortlessly controlling Kakuzu between his palms was too much for even Black Zetsu and White Zetsu to bear.
Despite having other powerful moves at his disposal, Naruto seemed to relish tormenting Kakuzu. The latter, realizing he couldn't resist, chose to surrender.
Naruto approached Kakuzu, not fearing any retaliation, and declared him the financial director of Akatsuki. "Your task, besides the essential missions, will be to generate wealth for us," he instructed.
Black Zetsu observed Naruto with a mixture of shock and curiosity, while Kakuzu snorted and stood up, accepting his new
Just as Naruto pondered if there was anything else to address, Kakuzu's unexpected response caught his attention. "Akatsuki? Seems like a place where I can make a fortune," Kakuzu remarked casually.
Black Zetsu couldn't help but groan, rubbing his temples in frustration. Did this guy not grasp the concept? The wealth amassed belonged to the organization, not the individual. Was there a short circuit in his brain?
Regardless, with Naruto's adept use of the Rinnegan's ocular abilities, Kakuzu swiftly acquiesced, smoothly integrating into their ranks.
Moreover, they received promising news during their mission. Konan had successfully persuaded Kirigakure, led by the renegade Juzo, to seek refuge with the rebel faction.
The story behind this development was intriguing. Juzo, a distinguished Jōnin of Kirigakure and member of the renowned Ninja Seven, had fled amidst the turmoil caused by Obito's machinations. Learning of Akatsuki's presence, he sought their alliance, a request Konan readily accepted.
With Kisame likely awaiting Obito's summons in Kirigakure, Akatsuki's roster neared completion.
Naruto, however, diverted their attention to the next target. "No, we're heading to the Land of Wind. There's someone else I'm interested in—Sasori of the Red Sand, a defector from Sunagakure and an exceptional puppet master. Our organization aims to recruit diverse talents," Naruto declared, eyeing White Zetsu expectantly. "Do you have his location?"
In his characteristic authoritative manner, White Zetsu confirmed, "Yes, he's currently situated within the Land of Thunder."
The proposal left Black Zetsu and White Zetsu momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond.
Adding to their agenda, Naruto emphasized the need to procure suitable attire for Kakuzu, deeming his current appearance detrimental to their image.
Kakuzu, unimpressed, dismissed the suggestion with a snort, opting not to engage in the debate.
However, Black Zetsu questioned the necessity of returning to Amegakure solely for clothing. "Let Kakuzu handle it himself. We'll proceed directly through the Land of Fire and onwards to the Land of Wind," he proposed, displaying a pragmatic approach.
But Naruto had already prepared his excuses. He said indignantly, "Big brother, do you want to tell me there's a difference between our two routes?"
Their current location was indeed near the border of the Land of Fire, close to the Land of Waterfall and the Land of Grass. They had essentially circled around.
Naruto was even considering sketching out this peculiar map.
Turning to Black Zetsu, Naruto inquired, "Come here, tell me, is there any significant difference between entering the Land of Wind from the Amegakure, compared to entering through the Land of Fire, then crossing the Rain and Waterfall countries?"
After contemplating for a moment, Black Zetsu concluded that, aside from the slightly faster direct route, there didn't seem to be much of a distinction.
Entering the Land of Fire might expose them to Konoha Village ninjas, although there was no hostility expected, it was better to avoid unnecessary trouble.
This time, Naruto's decision was spot on.
Hence, Black Zetsu and White Zetsu ceased their discussions. The four continued their journey towards the Amegakure.
Meanwhile, in another part of the Thunder Country, close to the Cloud Shinobi Village, Itachi was active. After annihilating his entire clan and subsequently betraying Konoha Village, Itachi operated in this area. Unaware of the events that transpired that night, as he faced Sasuke, it coincided with Naruto confronting Obito.
However, due to Danzo's deceptive intentions, when Naruto sought out Itachi and Sasuke for retribution, Itachi had already left.
Therefore, Itachi remained oblivious to the powerful manifestation of Susanoo that Naruto unleashed later during the 1.6 incident.
Having departed Konoha Village without encountering "Madara" and still waiting for contact from the mysterious Akatsuki organization, Itachi remained unaware of Madara's demise. He observed the wanted poster for Naruto and the questionable blame for Danzo's death that he carried.
Yet, Itachi didn't concern himself with these matters, as he harbored his own grudge against Danzo, particularly for taking away Shisui's eyes.
"It seems that the Cloud Village has no immediate plans to act. Akatsuki organization? Did Madara start to suspect me? Nevertheless, I must investigate that organization. Since they aren't actively seeking me out, I need to figure out ways to join."
