Chapter 123: The 1st Great Ninja War Part 2.

---War Recap---

Even though the four other villages had lost the battle, they still didn't give up and continued sending their strongest shinobi to the front lines.

This led to the death of the 1st Kazekage, Reto, in a war against the Senju Clan. Their poisons were ineffective against the Senju. Meanwhile, in Kumogakure, the 1st Raikage also perished, having been bombed by the tailed beast.

Ginkaku and Kinkaku's forces were no match for Chomei, the tailed beast. Even though they were fast, the terrain was destroyed by the Tailed Beast Bombs.

After dealing with Kumogakure, Aburame Toka flew in the direction of Kirigakure. The war between Konoha and Kirigakure was not going well for Konoha, despite having the Hyuga with their Byakugan, alongside the Yamanaka and Uzumaki, who excelled in sensing.

Toka's arrival helped Konoha immensely. He bombarded every location pointed out by the Hyuga. Kirigakure was eventually forced to surrender after their 1st Mizukage died in battle.

The Ketsuryugan dojutsu proved highly effective in the fight against Iwagakure, especially since its users' abilities had mutated due to living in the Valley of Hell.

The 1st Tsuchikage died from a heart attack, and the 2nd Tsuchikage was killed by Tobirama. After Onoki became Tsuchikage, he saw no chance of victory and surrendered to Konoha.

Even though Konoha achieved an overwhelming victory, there were still casualties. The first to die was Hashirama's son. Fortunately, his wife remained in Konoha because she was pregnant.

Tsunade and her mother were devastated after hearing the news and a week later, Nawaki was born.

Due to Setsuna's revelation about Asura and Indra chakra, Tobirama checked the chakra in his nephew. He was regretful upon realizing that his nephew didn't possess the same vitality as his brother.

---Setsuna and Kagami---

"Kagami, I heard Chino is pregnant," said Setsuna.

"Yes, Sensei, she is," replied Kagami, unable to hide his smile.

"Good," Setsuna smiled. "Kagami, your child will most likely awaken a new dojutsu."

"Like Hizashi?" Kagami asked.

"Exactly. For most Uchiha, their dojutsu won't mutate, but your wife is a different case," said Setsuna.

"A different case?" Tobirama interjected.

"Do you remember the elixir I gave your wife?" Setsuna asked.

"Yes, you told her it would renew her cells, so she wouldn't age," Kagami replied.

"That's right. Another function of that elixir is to enhance the bloodline," Setsuna explained.

"Enhance the bloodline? Is that why Hizashi's eyes mutated into the Byaringan?" Kagami asked.

"I'm proud to call you my disciple," Setsuna smiled. "Why do you think I made a contract with the Uzukage, stating that the Uchiha Clan wouldn't join the war unless Uzushiogakure was attacked?"

"Is it because of the mutated eyes?" Kagami guessed.

"Half true. The other reason is that our bodies won't age, so we could live for a thousand years," Setsuna revealed.

"Really?" Kagami was shocked.

"Your wife will most likely live as long as we will," Setsuna added.

"Sensei, if my wife lives for a thousand years, what will I do? I can't bear to leave her alone," Kagami confessed. "I love her, and she loves me. Can you give me the elixir?"

"Kagami, that elixir is gone. I don't have it any more," Setsuna replied.

"Where did you get it?" Kagami asked.

"That elixir is impossible to obtain now," Setsuna answered.

Kagami felt lost, but then Setsuna said, "Isn't your dojutsu able to rejuvenate the body? If you grow old, just activate it, and you'll regain your youth."

Kagami smiled and asked another question.

"Sensei, can we live forever?" he inquired.

"No impossible, we can live longer, but every living being will eventually face death," Setsuna replied.

"Face death? Do you mean if my Mangekyou Sharingan goes blind, I'll start aging?" asked Kagami.

"No, Kagami. We are simply creations—there is something greater that created us," Setsuna explained.

"Are you talking about the Sage of Six Paths?" Kagami asked. "I've heard some elders say he's a god."

"No, he isn't, nor will he ever be a god," Setsuna answered.

"Really? I've also heard that the Shodai was called the God of Shinobi," Kagami added.

"He wasn't a god either. Remember this, Kagami," Setsuna began. "A god isn't created by anyone else, doesn't need us to worship him for power and doesn't die like we mortals do."

"But, Sensei, why do they call the Sage of Six Paths a god?" Kagami asked, still curious.

"When someone becomes incredibly strong, people label them as god. Take Senju Hashirama, for instance, but look—he died. He wasn't a god," Setsuna explained. "Hashirama, the Sage of Six Paths, you, and I—we're all just mortals."

Setsuna recalled how, in the past, those with power would act like tyrants, some even claiming to be god. This, to him, was just human ignorance.

"Kagami, if you want to test a man's character, give him power," Setsuna said.

"Power?" Kagami repeated.

"Yes, power. Look at what happened after Hashirama's death. The ones pushing for war are the Daimyo and the Kage from the other four villages," Setsuna continued. "When people don't have power, they obey their leaders. But when they hold power, you will see their true nature."

"Understood, Sensei," Kagami nodded. "But I have one more question—why didn't you join the war?"

"War? It's pointless. If you observe Konoha's power, it's clear they outmatch the other villages. Aburame Toka has become a perfect Jinchuuriki. And though Uzumaki Mito can't use the full power of the tailed beast, she can still control up to four tails," Setsuna explained. "Besides, I wanted to strengthen Uzushiogakure."

"Why, Sensei?" Kagami asked.

"When this war ends, how do you think the other villages will react?" Setsuna asked.

"They'll fear Konoha?" Kagami guessed.

"Exactly, but I believe they'll attack Konoha to steal the Uzumaki Clan's sealing jutsu," Setsuna replied. "Aburame Toka became a perfect Jinchuuriki thanks to Uzumaki clan sealing techniques. The other villages only have access to the two-trigram seal. So, the next war might start after they manage to launch a surprise attack on Uzushiogakure to take Uzumaki clan fuinjutsu."

"Your explanation really opened my eyes, Sensei," Kagami responded.

"Kagami, I've made preparations. Every Uchiha in Uzushiogakure could awaken their Sharingan, and each of them can use Susanoo. Furthermore, this island is protected by whirlpools, and I've developed a sealing jutsu even stronger than the whirlpools."

"Stronger?"

"Yes. If anyone dares to use chakra to walk on water, the seal will absorb their chakra and disrupt their chakra network, causing them to drown in the sea," Setsuna said with a smirk.

Author Notes -

I'm still sick, and the doctor mentioned it might take more than 10 days for me to recover. The virus that's affecting me is unknown because I didn't buy an influenza test kit.

It's affecting my joints and throat, and every time I take my medication, it makes me drowsy and sleepy, so it's taking longer for me to write.
