Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Meeting the Love Rival
"What?" Fu Shilv stood up and extinguished the cigarette butt.
"Do you really like Liang Nianwei?"
The man's shoulders were broad and his legs long as he stood with his back to her, "I don't know, she's quite different."
Sheng Youxia didn't hear the word "like" from his mouth, but she knew it was over.
When a man started thinking like that, it meant he was smitten, right?
"I once did a survey; many patients feel that being blind is more cruel than having a limb amputated..." Fu Shilv's voice resonated.
Sheng Youxia's voice trembled slightly.
She didn't know why Fu Shilv would say that, was he, perhaps, trying to evoke her sympathy for Liang Nianwei?
"Yeah, if you can't see with your eyes, you're truly disabled."
Sheng Youxia turned off the light and lay on the bed. She reached up to wipe the corners of her eyes, her heart burdened with resentment and pain, and she hardly slept all night.
She had to see Liang Nianwei for herself, to see the woman who hadn't moved this mountain of ice for years and who had managed to break off a corner.
Two days later, Sheng Youxia saw Liang Nianwei in a pizza shop downstairs of the hospital.
"See her, the one with black, straight hair, the one not wearing makeup..."
Sheng Youxia's best friend Tang Hui pointed not far away with excitement in her voice, "I bet she hasn't even developed properly? No chest, is that what your Fu Gou likes?"
Sheng Youxia felt choked up, with an indescribable feeling.
Tang Hui was indignantly convinced that Fu Shilv's head was filled with straw.
"I had people watch for days to catch such an opportunity, Xiaxia, your man is said to be very caring towards her, very protective; were it not for her worsening eye condition that required hospitalization... I doubt I could have caught a glimpse of her."
Liang Nianwei was completely blind, eating every bite with utmost care.
She looked very young and pure, like a clean white lotus.
Sheng Youxia hadn't expected her rival to be like this.
"Tang Hui, where did I lose?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Hui turned her head to look, her eyes full of pity.
She hugged Sheng Youxia's shoulder, "You didn't lose shit. My Xiaxia's beauty is unparalleled, breathtakingly gorgeous; it's Fu Gou who went blind!"
Sheng Youxia and Liang Nianwei were completely different, two extremes. Tang Hui adored Sheng Youxia's looks; no plastic surgery could achieve that effect.
"Xiaxia, have you ever thought that Fu Shilv's circle wouldn't come across such a woman?" Tang Hui spoke carefully, minding her words.
"I heard it wasn't easy for Liang Nianwei to get a consultation with Fu Shilv; her family couldn't afford the surgery fees. When she left, she bowed to Fu Shilv and said, 'Thank you, Doctor, I will leave it be.'"
These were all things Tang Hui had heard from the nurses.
She lowered her voice, swearing, "Damn it, your Fu Gou has never seen such a weakling flower like her and then just..."
Sheng Youxia's eyes were cold as she stared down at the cup in her hands.
The fizzy drink inside bubbled and gurgled, "So, he fell for her like that."
Tang Hui wanted to comfort her, "It's not really falling for her, right? It's just a novelty."
Sheng Youxia had liked Fu Shilv for three years; the Fu and Sheng families had arranged a marriage, but Fu Shilv thought she had schemed her way in.
Now that this girl had suddenly appeared, didn't that cast Sheng Youxia in a scheming light?
People just can't withstand comparisons.
"I can't swallow this insult, I'll teach her a lesson!"
Sheng Youxia, seeing this, hurriedly grabbed Tang Hui's arm. "Stop, hold on a bit longer."
Tang Hui helplessly sat back down, while Sheng Youxia's gaze remained fixed on Liang Nianwei.
"When it comes to the cornea, I never had much chance anyway. If I confront Liang Nianwei directly, I'm afraid Fu Shilv would become suspicious."
Some things, she could only do in secret.
Tang Hui wore a worried look, "But are we any match for Fu Shilv?"
Of course not, it was like an egg striking a rock.
"So now we're in the dark, I can't consult with Fu Shilv, I can only rely on grabbing."
Tang Hui knew her entire plan, which was risky, riskier than parachuting from tens of thousands of feet in the air.
"I'm just afraid that even if you manage to grab it, Fu Shilv might settle the score with you afterward."
Sheng Youxia saw Liang Nianwei smiling, her future bright; of course, she was happy.
Sheng Youxia's lips curled into a mocking smile, "When the time comes, if the surgery is all done, why would I be afraid of him settling the score with me?"
What's he going to do, dig the eyes out again?
Hearing this, Tang Hui gave her a thumbs up, "Xiaxia, I like your style. Weren't there so many women who wanted to get close to Fu Shilv before, and they all fell at your hands?"
Sheng Youxia, a rich girl who grew up under a stepmother, could she possibly be some simple, sweet fool?
Tang Hui then said, "Go for it!"
Suddenly, Sheng Youxia seemed to understand where she had lost.
Being too high-profile, Zhang Yang, not humble, those qualities in front of Liang Nianwei, all became fatal flaws.
Some people, just by standing there, can stir up a man's protective desires; Liang Nianwei was just such a person.
Returning to Xi Zi Bay, Sheng Youxia spaced out for the entire afternoon.
In the evening, when Fu Shilv came back and saw her sitting there motionless, a slight displeasure appeared on his face. "Aren't you going to get ready? We're leaving."
"Where are we going?"
"Ji Xingtang's birthday, I told you two days ago, we're going together."
The Ji Family had been closely related to the Fu Family since their ancestors, and if Sheng Youxia didn't attend, the news would probably reach the Fu Family's ears.
Fu Shilv walked over to where Sheng Youxia was with his long legs; she slightly lifted her head to reveal a gorgeous face.
He had just returned from the hospital, and he took off his glasses from the bridge of his nose, his eyes unobstructed, much sharper.
From a cultured hoodlum, he had successfully evolved into a beast in sheep's clothing—in any case, neither was good stuff.
Fu Shilv lowered his gaze, "Where did you go today?"
Sheng Youxia was startled, thinking he knew. "I went to have tea with friends."
The man scrutinized her, his gaze sweeping back and forth across her face.
"That lipstick color is too dark, you could try something lighter."
Sheng Youxia held back, otherwise, she would have plastered 'go to hell' right across his face.
Isn't it just that Liang Nianwei doesn't wear makeup?
She smiled and nodded, "Okay."
After Fu Shilv changed his clothes, he took Sheng Youxia out with him.
Despite being a surgeon, he was quite wild behind the scenes. After dinner, Sheng Youxia followed him to Royal Hong Du.
The girls at the nightclub would naturally not let go of someone rich and powerful. Fu Shilv, however, was relatively well-behaved, sitting next to Sheng Youxia without calling anyone over to drink with them.
There were many people sitting on the sofa, their legs touching each other, and Sheng Youxia could feel the heat from the man's body through his suit pants.
As a bunch of folks drank, Sheng Youxia suddenly saw Ji Xingtang come close with an undisguisable smirk on his lips.
"Sister-in-law, what's today's date?"
Sheng Youxia didn't understand, "The 8th."
"Hahaha—"
The room burst into laughter instantly, as if they had heard some kind of joke.
Ji Xingtang slapped Fu Shilv's shoulder, uttering something quite inappropriate.
"Then you can't drink tonight, Mr. Fu works during the day and overtime at night. So hardworking, I sympathize with you—"
Fu Shilv pulled Ji Xingtang's arm down, telling him to get lost.
Sheng Youxia's intuition told her that there was definitely something hidden between them, and it was related to her.
