Multiverse Heroes: Magical Destinies(AmphibiaxSVTFOExTOH)

Chapter 38: Struggling Against the Odds

Within the halls of Newtopia castle, Andrias and Darcy led Belos toward the Throne Room. Belos took note of the amount of robots in the vicinity, almost completely replacing the actual guards.

"You've upgraded a fair bit," Belos said. "There is a much larger technological growth than I saw a few years ago."

"Yes, I figured now was as good of a time as any to fully upgrade if I am to conquer Earth," Andrias said.

"And this is just the start," Darcy said. "Soon we'll have whole fleets of technologically advanced henchmen at our command."

"I see...if I am being quite honest, technology does elude me, so it may not be as helpful to me as you would expect," Belos said. "Quite honestly, hearing about how much the world has changed, including seeing what I have during your Christmas mishap...I am saddened to admit that it does not fill me with much confidence."

"It's not hard to learn, you don't exactly need to know rocket science for this," Darcy said. "Just some basic knowhow is enough, and soon you can command robots like you command a Coven Guard. In a way, Science and Magic aren't too different. And witches do use some form of science with their potions and stuff."

"Perhaps you're correct," Belos said. "It might be wise of me to learn as much as I can about this topic."

"Good point, especially if you're going to Earth," Darcy said. "Technology is big there. The girl we're possessing has a mind full of technological wonder. Things like smartphones, tablets, video games. If technology was a type of witchcraft, this girl would be one of Hexside's Top Students."

"Yes, I do recall Andrias saying such marvelous things about this girl," Belos said. "I believe you said her name is Marcy Wu."

"Yes, but now, we're Darcy Wu," The Core said.

"Why did you pick that name exactly?" Belos asked.

"A combination of Dark and Marcy," Darcy explained. "Clever, isn't it?"

"...Yes..." Belos really could not care any less. "And this is why you desired the girl, Andrias?"

"Correct," Andrias confirmed. "Her intellect was greatly valued by The Core here. Of course I did suggest other alternatives."

"Hey, we needed someone smart," Darcy said. "The only other potential candidate was probably that Amity Blight girl."

"She is rather intelligent, a very gifted child in Witchcraft," Belos said. "Unfortunately, she has a poor choice in friends."

"Pretty awkward that you're working with her mother, isn't it?" Andrias asked.

"Curiously, Odaliah hasn't even brought up the fact that her daughter is wanted by The Coven," Belos said.

"Wow really? Sounds cold. I imagine she must be disappointed in her kid and I gotta say..." Darcy briefly glanced at Andrias. "Some of us here understand that feeling."

"...Right..." Andrias shamefully replied.

"But, at least some kids learn their place sooner or later," Darcy said, with Aldrich's voice dominating at the moment. "Just like Andrias here."

Belos found the tone change curious, but didn't care enough to dwell on it, "Speaking of troublesome kids, I have my own to deal with. Luz has been poking around in my private thoughts, and brought some friends along for the ride. Including Hunter."

"Got some secrets you don't want anyone finding out?" Darcy teased. "We jest of course, everyone has something we all deem worth hiding."

"I would not mind sharing a bit with you," Belos said. "After all, I still wish to learn more of these friends that Andrias had, and the Music Box. Not to mention the power you currently possess."

"You got it," Darcy turned to the current Newtopia King. "Hey, Andrias, tell your guards to get that tea ready."

"What type of tea would you like, Belos?" Andrias asked.

"Any will do," Belos said. "Just assure me that it will not taste like the swamp."

"Same here, I don't think this body will handle that well," Darcy said. "Come to think of it, we may need to consider the proper diet."

"Marcy lasted here just fine, and there's plenty of food edible for a teenage girl," Andrias said. "Besides, we can easily go to Earth for more of Marcy's preferable foods."

"One place this body wants to go to is Britta's Tacos," Darcy said. "It's in a place called Santa Monica, near where that Marco Diaz boy lives."

"Marco Diaz...such a formidable boy," Belos said.

"He is quite durable, I thought for sure he perished by my blade," Andrias said.

"He has skills for sure, after all there's a very good reason as to why Marcy has such fond memories of him," Darcy said. "Honestly though, for a young girl, she has quite a promiscuous mind."

"Uh..." Andrias felt a bit awkward. "Excuse me?"

"Kids really mature fast these days," Darcy said.

"Yes, certainly..." Belos said, also feel awkward. "Is there anything in Marcy's mind that can help counter Marco Diaz? Or even her friend Anne Boonchuy?"

"Oh totally, we just gotta dig around a bit," Darcy said. "Now, let's talk about strategy."

On Mewni, Star and the others continued looking on in disbelief. Mewni castle had been destroyed by Andrias's robotic forces. To make matters worse, a portal had opened to reveal some Coven Guards, who were on their way to apprehend the Mewman citizens.

Star looked on in disbelief, seeing her Family's Castle overrun like this was not settling well with her.

"What's going on!?" Star wondered. "Why is this happening!?"

"Looks like Belos and Andrias are back to conquer," Sasha said.

"Mom! Dad!" Star realized. "They're still in the castle! They're in danger!"

"What do we do now?" Sprig asked.

Star generated her powers, "I'll tell you what we do! We rescue my parents and get our throne back!"

"Star, wait up!" Marco urged.

"No Marco! I'm not losing my mother again!" Star said.

"If you rush in without a plan, you're going to make things worse!" Marco said. "You already got careless in going after Belos! Don't repeat that mistake!"

"He's right, Star," Amity said. "We need to be smart about this. Let's come up with a plan first."

"Screw that!" Star marched forward. "I'm done planning!"

"Star, wait!" Marco chased after the girl, with everyone else following.

"What's with her?" Luz asked. "Star's usually a bit more patient than this."

"Honestly, this feels like the Star I remember," Hekapoo said. "She's always had tunnel vision whenever she needed something done. It's what got her into really bad situations in the past."

"Something I can relate to," Anne said.

"Yeah, same here," Luz said.

"Star's always been up front about the things she wants," Tom said as he flew beside the girls. "It's what I always found attractive about her."

"Yeah, you and Marco sure love enabling that side of her," Hekapoo pointed out.

"Are you kidding? I never encourage this behavior from Star," Tom said.

"You just said you find it attractive whenever she goes off and does something stupid!" Hekapoo said.

"I said I like how up front she is, not really the same thing," Tom said.

"It's totally the same thing!" Hekapoo angrily insisted.

"Hey, now's not the time to fight amongst ourselves!" Anne said. "Let's try thinking on our feet here so we can keep Star from getting hurt!"

"Better hurry, Star looks serious," Luz said. "I've never seen such fierce determination from her, it's like she's a totally different person nowadays."

"NARWHAL BLAST!" Star used her powers to send a wave of Narwhals at some machines.

Amity stopped a moment to raise her eyebrow, "When she says stuff like that, it kind of breaks the tension."

"At least she still has a bit of silly in her," Sprig said. "Anyway, don't stop now!"

"Right," Amity resumed her pace.

"There's Star Butterfly and her band of misfits!" A coven guard said. "Dispose of them!"

"That ain't happening!" Star used her magic to blast the Coven Guards as well. "I will not let any of you endanger my Family's Kingdom!"

"Considering this place is mostly run by Queens, isn't it a Queendom?" Luz asked as she blasted some enemies with ice.

"I don't think Queendom is a word," Anne said as she whacked a few with her racket.

"This is a war, not an English Test!" Marco took down a few robots with his sword. "Focus on fighting!"

"Well good grammar is important," Amity said as she whacked some robots with her Abomination.

"Just fight!" Star shouted as she blasted some Coven Guards.

"This might take a while," Sasha said as she kicked some guards away. "These things guys are coming from all over."

Hekapoo destroyed a robot with her magic, "It doesn't help that we're outnumbered here."

"We can handle it!" Star blasted some foes. "Are we mice!? Or men!?"

"Uh...neither?" Anne asked. "A chunk of us are girls."

"And even the men are technically boys," Luz said. "Marco, Tom and Hunter are pretty young."

"Same with King and Sprig," Sasha said.

"We can still be men," Tom said as he blasted some guards. "A real man fights for his Queendom after all."

"Still not a word!" Anne said. "Also, that sounds very weird out of context!"

"Weird how!?" Tom asked.

Star kept blasting, but for as many as she took out, it felt like they were not only getting replaced, but growing in numbers.

"This isn't working!" Star kept fighting regardless. "I don't even know what to do!"

"We'll figure something out!" Luz reassured as she used her vines.

"But how!?" Star asked. "How are we going to fight this off!? Belos and Andrias have us outnumbered!"

As Marco kept fighting, he spotted a family in danger. "Civilians in trouble!"

"I got this!" Anne struck down the foes with her sword.

Marco turned to a woman and her cat, "More civilians that need assistance!"

"Leave that to me!" Luz used her fireballs to destroy the foes while using her vines to save the woman and her pet.

As Star kept fighting, she noticed her friends assisting the civilians. It didn't take her too long to realize that other civilians were in danger. It was at this point that her priorities began to shift.

"Everyone, focus on saving the civilians!" Star said. "Get them as far away from the town as possible!"

"That might be a better call," Marco said, taking a moment to assist a family. "This way! Quickly!"

"Wait, where are we going to take them!?" Amity asked.

As they tried helping the civilians, a few monsters got blasted with unknown magic. Showing up to assist was former Queen Moon. "This way!"

"Mom!?" Star asked in disbelief. Another creature was promptly destroyed by King River, the man having used his brute strength to destroy a robot. "Dad!?"

"Listen to your mother dear!" River said as he destroyed another robot. "Hurry and go!"

"Don't gotta tell us twice!" Sasha said as she led the civilians away.

Star kept up the offense as she provided cover for her friends, keeping the creatures away from them. Each person helped the best they could, trying their hardest to keep the monsters back.

"There's more than I would like here!" Star shouted as she kept blasting her foes.

"That's life," Maddie said as she perched herself onto Star's shoulder to throw some petrification bombs at the Coven Guards. "We just need to continue until everyone's safe!"

Hekapoo struck down many enemies as well in an effort to keep her friends safe from harm. Of course she grew concerned by the amount that was coming through the portal.

"It might help if we closed that portal, somehow!" Hekapoo said.

"I got this!" Tom flew toward the portal in a haste.

"Huh!?" Star noticed her boyfriend doing something that she deemed reckless. "Tom! Are you stupid!? Get back here!"

Tom flew aggressively toward the portal as he charged his demon magic, "It's over!"

Within seconds, the entire area was covered in an explosion, causing worry and stress from Star as she looked on in disbelief, "TOM!"

"Whoa, that was gnarly!" Anne said.

Star stood still in disbelief, worried about the demon boy. Unfortunately for her, some more foes began coming her way.

"Star! We gotta go!" Maddie tugged at Star to get her to move. "Come on!"

Despite her initial shock, Star kept moving, the girl joined by the others as they got the civilians out of harm's way. Unfortunately it meant leaving the castle behind. All that remained were the guards futility defending it against those who opposed them.

Marco looked back in worry and disbelief. Much as he wanted to return to the castle, he knew doing so would likely result in his defeat. He carried on and strived to find a solution.

From within Andrias's castle, a reporter newt came by while the King discussed plans with Belos and Darcy. "Sir! A report fresh from the Siege of Mewni Castle."

Andrias took the letter and read it, the King looking almost impressed, "Wow, the Siege was successful. Mewni Castle has been taken."

"Ha, we had a feeling that things would work out that way," Darcy said. "The moment Star Butterfly let her guard down, the moment we struck. It was a beautifully calculated plan."

"It seemed more like a spur of the moment decision," Andrias said. "Even Belos didn't expect-"

"Can it, Andrias! We already told you that we planned a backup, we hope you're not doubting our skills!" Darcy scolded.

"...Forgive me, I misspoke," Andrias said.

"Try not to do it again," Darcy warned. "Anyway what matters is that our plan worked. Mewni Castle is finally under our control, as are the resources of Mewni itself."

"Your plan was brilliant," Belos said. "But, does that report say anything about our persistent party?"

"Some scouts caught them fighting, but they were forced to retreat," the newt said.

"Seems like this was too much for them," Andrias said. "They were ill prepared, and it led to their downfall."

"Many of their allies are stuck on The Boiling Isles too," Darcy said. "Even more of an advantage for us."

"Well, until we have our victory, there is still much more work to be done," Andrias said. "Even more so, we need to dispose of our foes. Their survival is too much of a risk to our plans."

"You are correct, any victory of ours could be short lived if they survive," Belos said. "As much as I hate to admit it, they are quite formidable. It's a shame, they would make for remarkable allies."

"Oh forget that," Darcy said. "Just eliminate those pests. Let it be known that Anne Boonchuy, Sasha Waybright, Luz Noceda, Amity Blight, Marco Diaz and Star Butterfly are top priority. If we kill them, we'll no longer have any serious threat."

"Yes, that is quite beneficial to us," Belos said. "Now, with that said-"

"Emperor Belos!" Came Raine's voice as the witch came running in.

"Who's this guy again?" Darcy asked, earning a quick eyebrow raise from Raine.

"This is Raine, one of my subordinates," Belos reminded, then focused on Raine. "Speak up."

Despite Raine's confusion regarding Darcy, priorities took place in the musician's mind, "Meteora is missing!"

Belos's calm demeanor slowly began to fade away, "Pardon me?"

Raine could tell that Belos was a lot angrier than he sounded, and that fear swarmed around from within. Despite that Raine continued to speak, "I went to check on Meteora during the raid, and she's gone!"

"Could it have been one of Star Butterfly's allies?" Andrias asked.

"I'm not sure, but there was no way any of them could have gotten to her, could there?" Raine asked.

"I recall leaving her with The Collector..." Belos said as the tyrant focused on Raine. "Tell me, who is accounted for!?"

"Well, there's Terra, she however was engaged in battle against Star's troops. Kikimora's tending to some injured Coven Guards right now," Raine said. "I haven't seen Darrius or Eberwolf in quite some time. I don't know if they took Meteora or not."

"For their sake, I hope not," Belos said. "What of Ludo?"

"I'm not sure," Raine said.

"I see..." Belos slowly stood up. "Raine, go see if you can find your brother. I will look for Ludo."

"Not alone, the big guy and I are coming with you," Darcy said.

"Me?" Andrias asked.

"Do you know any other big guy?" Darcy asked.

Raine looked on in confusion, "Sir, if I may ask. I thought you severed your ties with Andrias. Also who is this girl? She kind of reminds me of Marcy Wu."

"This is Marcy Wu, we in The Core are using her body by inhabiting her mind," Darcy said. "She should be honored, only the most intelligent may have this role."

"Right..." Raine replied, feeling unsure about this.

"Point is, we need Belos and Andrias to work together a little better, so going on a nice fun journey to find a monster baby and a potential traitor seems like just the trick," Darcy said.

"Come if you wish," Belos said. "Raine, go and keep an eye on my castle. Make sure things stay in order."

"Yes sir..." Raine walked along, though not without slightly scowling at Belos before fully departing.

"Alright! Road Trip time!" Darcy said as she grabbed anything essential for the travel.

"Is that normal behavior for The Core?" Belos asked.

"Not quite, inhabiting Marcy's body is having an effect on The Core's personality," Andrias said. "She is a young girl after all."

"Strange, despite her supposed age, she seems much older at times," Belos said. "The same could be said of Luz Noceda and her friends."

"Kids grow up fast, I certainly had to," Andrias said. Despite some brief hesitation, the King began walking along. "Let us not waste time."

"I am right behind you," Belos said as he followed Andrias.

Off in a safehouse near the outskirts of Mewni, many of the civilians were gathered and placed under the care of Moon.

"I do hope this is everyone," Moon commented as she started counting how many there were. "It's a lot but not nearly the whole town."

"Sad to say, but those savages may have already gotten to several of the townsfolk," River sadly commented. "We saved all we could, but there are still many that remain."

Star laid against the wall and slid down in despair, irritated at how badly things had gone. "This was a disaster."

"Hey it's fine, we just need to fight back," Sasha said. "All the civilians are safe, now we can go bring the fight back to our enemies."

"I want to Sasha, but let's face it, we were outmatched," Star said.

"Oh no way, they're just generic grunts," Sasha said. "Like come on, we're gone against Meteora, haven't we?"

"Belos is the one who defeated her," Star said. "Then kidnapped her in the process."

"But what about the time we...I mean, you all drove away the Toad Army from Newtopia?" Sasha asked.

"I wasn't there for that one," Star said.

"I was," Marco said. "And Sasha, we didn't really drive them away, we had to block them off. We would not have had a chance against them if they completely invaded Newtopia."

"Well..." Sasha tried to think about something else. "What about the time-?"

"Sasha, enough," Anne said. "I know you're trying to keep up morale, but let's face it. We're completely in over our heads here."

"Honestly, I can't even remember the last time we had a proper victory," Luz said. "Any time we've gone against Belos or Andrias, we come up short. The first time, Marco nearly died. The second time, a lot of our friends got captured. Now here, we saved some friends, but others got caught too, and now Mewni Castle is as good as gone."

"Not to mention that now Belos and Andrias have Marcy on their side," Amity said.

"She's not on their side," Marco clarified. "She's under mind control. That girl was not Marcy. The real one is locked away."

"Point is, what can we do at this point?" Star asked.

"We'll think of something," Marco said. "Regardless of how bad things look, we can't give in."

"How are we going to gain the advantage?" Luz said. "Is there anything that can help?"

"You could try going to Quest Buy," Came Janna's voice, the girl suddenly in the same room as the heroes.

"Janna? Where'd you come from!?" Marco asked.

"My mother's womb," Janna replied.

Marco furrowed his brow in annoyance, "Not what I meant. How'd you even get here?"

"I followed you, duh," Janna said. "I lived in the castle too."

"I'm not gonna lie, I keep forgetting she's there," Luz said.

"Yeah, you don't exactly show up enough," Anne said.

"Show up to do what?" Janna asked. "All you guys do is talk about how you're going to defeat Belos and Andrias, yet all this time passed and no one is close to accomplishing that goal. Not like me being there is going to do much, I'm not a warrior like most of you."

"You've still been involved in the past," Marco said. "It's like you just come and go as you please."

"Oh, pray tell Marco, what do you expect me to do?" Janna asked.

"I...am not sure," Marco admitted.

"You're upset because I'm not involved much," Janna said. "Yet, when I am here, a good chunk of you look at me like some type of nuisance. Feels like a no-win situation no matter what I do."

"Hey, you better not be trying to shame us or anything," Amity warned.

"Who me? Gee, what could have given you that idea?" Janna asked.

"Okay, when you talk like that Janna, it's one reason most of us get annoyed when you're around," Marco said.

"Oh, how nice of you to say," Janna sarcastically replied.

"Okay, that's enough," Star said. "Janna, you said something about Quest Buy?"

"Yeah, don't you get a lot of your spells and weaponry from there?" Janna asked.

"Oh, that's a good point!" Star said. "If we can go to Quest Buy, then-"

"That won't be of any use, Star," Moon interjected. "Quest Buy closed down unfortunately."

Star looked very disappointed to hear that, "It did what!?"

"Yes, sad news," River said. "Business just wasn't keeping up, so they closed the store."

"Well that's a relief," Marco said. "No offense, but I really hate that store. I did not have a lot of good memories there."

"Marco, that store is where you got your High Security Wallet," Star pointed out.

"Oh yeah," Marco pulled the wallet out. "I got this to keep Janna out of my stuff."

"It didn't work," Janna said. "I still got into his wallet."

"You know that's very rude to do, don't you?" Luz asked.

"Not just that, I'm pretty sure it's illegal," Anne said.

"Making a copy of his house keys is rude and illegal, but it didn't stop me either," Janna said.

"Wow, and everyone thinks I'm nuts," Sasha said. "Janna, you are on a whole different level."

"Still, big bummer about the wallet," Marco said as he placed his away. "How am I going to get more if anything happens to this one?"

"They probably sell them elsewhere," Luz said. "I bet there's plenty like it in the Boiling Isles."

Marco tapped his chin, "Not a bad idea."

"Can we focus?" Star asked. "No offense, but I'm not exactly worried about Marco's wallet."

"Yeah, what you should be worried about is Janna," Sasha said. "Who knows how many times she invaded Marco's privacy."

"Many times, even some recent stuff," Janna said as she pulled out some pictures. "I got picture of Marco with his girlfriend Marcy that are so sexy, it puts most porn to shame."

"What the hell, Janna!?" Marco reached to grab the pictures, but Janna kept them out of his reach.

"Come on, reach for it big guy," Janna teased.

"Janna!" Luz went to help as she also tried reaching for the pictures. "This isn't funny!"

"I never said I was a comedian," Janna said, stepping on a nearby chair for leverage.

"You better not have shown that to anyone!" Anne warned as she also tried reaching.

"Don't worry, I made sure that person paid good money," Janna said.

"JANNA!" Marco knocked the chair over, to which Janna leapt and landed a few feet away.

"Geez dude, you could hurt someone doing that," Janna said. Suddenly she felt her wrist being grabbed as she was lifted off the ground. "HEY!"

Standing nearby was Amity, who had just used her abomination to grab Janna, "You have two choices. Drop the pictures yourself, or I'll drop you after my beast here breaks your arm."

"Ugh, fine," Janna said as she released the pictures. "All you had to do was ask anyway."

"We did ask!" Marco said as he quickly picked the pictures up.

"Technically, you started demanding things from me," Janna said as the monster released her.

Marco glanced over the pics, though to his surprise, it was not what he was expecting. It was him and Marcy, but it looked very tame. It was merely the two in their pajamas while in each other's embrace, or even making out.

"This isn't what you described Janna," Marco said.

"Of course it is," Janna said. "It's sexy, and it puts porn to shame."

"But, Marcy and I aren't doing anything," Marco said. "The only thing raunchy here is one picture without my shirt."

"You and Marcy have a cute relationship," Janna said, this immediately taking Marco by surprise. "The pictures are sexy, but in a good way. You have a type of intimacy that shows trust. It puts porn to shame because most of it is just pointless sex, while anything you have with Marcy just feels genuine."

"Wow...I did not expect anything so deep from you," Marco said.

"Have you bothered to get to know me?" Janna asked.

"...Yes, I have," Marco said. "I'm pretty sure I have."

"Well, point is, what you have with Marcy is special," Janna said. "Quite honestly, it's not just her. It's your relationship with these other girls."

"Other girls?" Marco looked around the room. "You mean the ones that are newer to Mewni?"

"Duh, of course," Janna said. "Anne, Sasha, Luz, Amity, each of those girls are special to you. You take good care of them, you're always watching over them. You seem to do a good job in dividing your attention between them."

"Keenly observed," Luz said.

"I just kind of feel bad for Star here," Janna said, getting the girl's attention.

"Who? Me?" Star asked.

"Yes you," Janna said. "I used to joke that you had competition with girls like Kelly, Jackie, and even Hekapoo."

"Pfft, Marco wishes he could have a girl like me," Hekapoo said, much to Marco's annoyance.

"Point is, now Marco has all these other girls," Janna said. "Of course he's dating Marcy, but the way he takes care of all these girls, they might as well all be dating him."

"Uh, wow," Sasha said. "That was kind of forward of you to say."

"Yeah, I can't date all of these girls, I'm only one person," Marco said.

"You say that now, but something tells me you have the stamina to keep them all satisfied," Janna teased.

Marco awkwardly glanced at the aforementioned girls. Luz looked curious but kind of embarrassed. Anne awkwardly turned away. Amity used her hand to hide her face, but it was obvious she was blushing. Sasha was the only one who looked very curious.

"What on Earth are you even doing with these ladies, lad?" River asked.

"Nothing!" Marco quickly insisted. "Look, this is a very serious situation, can we stop screwing around for a few minutes!?"

"Sure, whatever you say," Janna said. "Sucks about Quest Buy, didn't expect it to close."

"Janna, you were there," Moon pointed out. "We went there just before it closed down."

"Oh right..." Janna said. "That would explain why the store looked practically empty."

"Janna, if the store looked practically empty, how would that not signal to you that it's closing?" Marco asked.

"I thought someone was late on Inventory or something," Janna said. "I don't understand how stores work dude."

"Holy crap..." Luz said. "You are something else, Janna."

"At least I was able to get this," Janna snapped her fingers and what looked like a baby resembling Marco rolled in on wheels.

"What the!?" Marco asked at the little version of himself.

"I'm Baby Marco and I have wheels for hands!" The baby said as he sped off. "Wheeeeeeeee!"

Marco stood there in disbelief while everyone else looked on in confusion.

"What in the fuck did we just see?" Sasha asked.

"I don't even want to know," Star said.

"I almost got one for you girl, but Moon pulled me out of that room, saying it could ruin my mind," Janna said.

"You planned on making an army of Evil Marcos," Moon pointed out. "At that point, it was less about your mind going astray and more on keeping you from making things worse."

"I don't even want to know what the Evil Marco Army thing is about," Star said. "But the mind thing reminds me. Mom, how are you normal again? You were so out of it before."

"The more I reaccustomed to Mewni, the more my memories began to return," Moon said. "Some details are still fuzzy, but I do remember running into Meteora along with Eclipsa, Hopediah, Lilith and Edalyn."

"That's when Eclipsa sucker blasted you and caused you to retreat into that freaky magic place," Eda said. "Meanwhile I had to get Lilith back to the castle because she got her soul sucked out of her."

"Where is Lilith?" River asked.

"I don't know, wasn't she with all of you?" Eda asked, the woman looking around in fear. "Lil!?"

"Looks like we lost track of her," Moon said, the woman now worried. "This chaos is unimaginable."

"Sure is," Eda said as she grabbed her staff. "I'll be back later."

"Eda wait, where are you going?" Luz asked.

"To find Lilith," Eda said. "No way I'm leaving her out there with Belos around."

"But it's dangerous," Luz ran to stop her mentor. "Please Eda, I don't want you getting hurt!"

"Luz, I know you're worried, but this is something I gotta do," Eda said. "Don't worry about me, I can handle myself."

"But Eda!" Luz pleaded.

"I must concur with the girl's worries," River said. "Edalyn, going out there alone is too dangerous."

"River, you went to hell and back to find your wife," Eda said. "You think I wouldn't do the same for my sister?"

"I...suppose you have a point," River said.

"Well, I'm going with her," Hop Pop said.

"Wait, seriously?" Anne asked.

"Hop Pop, you can't go!" Polly ran over to her grandfather. "It's dangerous!"

"I can't let Eda go alone," Hop Pop said. "Two are better than one."

"Make that three," River said.

"River, are you insane!?" Moon asked.

"Sorry Moon Pie, but I understand Eda's drive, plus this could be a chance to save any other stragglers," River said. He then called over to his daughter's best friend. "Marco! I will be off with Edalyn and Hopediah. You are Man of the Safehouse until I get back."

"Huh? Why me?" River asked.

"Because, very few can walk the ocean of sand in a hot summer's day, and come back without the blisters," River said.

Absolutely no one understood what River was trying to say.

"Uh...Ocean of Sand?" Marco asked.

"Exactly," River said as he grabbed his sword. "Edalyn! Hopediah! We march!"

"River, you just got your wife back, I can't ask you to come," Eda said.

"That's why I'm not asking, I'm leading," River said as he flung the door open. "Let us go!"

Eda couldn't understand River, but she definitely respected him. She then turned her attention to Moon, "I'll keep an eye on him. I promise he'll come back."

"Do be safe yourself," Moon said.

"Eda!" King ran to his adopted mother.

"I'll be back soon, little guy," Eda said. "Make sure you keep Luz safe for me, alright?"

"Yeah, I will," King said. "Please be careful."

"Tch, when am I not?" Eda joked as she left. "Let's go Hopediah."

Hop Pop turned to his grandson, "Sprig, while I'm away, keep a close eye on your sister."

"Sure thing, Hop Pop," Sprig said.

"Anne, keep an eye on Sprig and Polly," Hop Pop said.

"Just promise you won't croak out there," Anne said. "Uh, in a bad way I mean."

"There's a bad way?" Hop Pop asked.

"Just be careful," Anne said as Hop Pop left.

Everyone was understandably concerned, but if there was a chance to rescue more people, it needed to be taken.

"So...Moon," Marco said, getting her attention. "Is it safe to say that you're basically cured? I know you don't remember everything, but it sounds like you remember most of it."

"I remember the important parts," Moon said. "This whole thing with Meteora, it created quite a downward spiral for Mewni."

"She was not easy to beat," Marco said.

"You mentioned that it was Belos who ultimately stopped her, then took her for himself," Moon said.

"Yeah, right after that fight, he disappeared and the rest of us had to figure things out," Marco said. "Star spent forever looking for you, then while she was rescuing you from the Island of the Pie Folk, me along with Anne, Sasha, Marcy, Luz, Amity, The Clawthornes and Plantars went to deliver that Calamity Box to Andrias."

"Then he betrayed us," Sasha said.

"I seem to recall that you were initially the one who betrayed everyone, along with your ally General Grime," Moon said.

"Ooooh, guess you were filled in on that," Sasha said.

"It sounds like you were not alone," Moon said as she glared at Hekapoo.

"Hey, don't judge me, I was too busy trying to fix your mistakes," Hekapoo said.

Moon looked absolutely offended by that remark, "Mistakes!? What in the world could you even be alluding to?"

"Don't think I forgot about how you hid the fact that Ludo stole the Book of Spells which damn near brought back Toffee," Hekapoo said. "Then you screw up trying to find Meteora, something you should have just not even indulged in!"

"I was keeping a promise to Eclipsa!" Moon said

"Then she betrayed you," Hekapoo said. "You knew talking to her was dangerous, but you basically guilted us into allowing it because you were grieving your mother's death."

"Do NOT bring my mother into this!" Moon warned.

"Well because of that, you cut a deal with Eclipsa, which allowed her to be free, and then she demanded to know where that hybrid freak of a daughter was," Hekapoo said.

"Whoa, easy there," Marco said. "Hybrid freak? That sounds like a very prejudice thing to say."

"Look, my job is to keep Mewni safe, and because of what you did, you ended up leaving everything to Star, and she nearly turned Mewni on its head by bringing monsters in on a whim," Hekapoo said.

"I had to, it's the best way to end the discrimination!" Star insisted.

"Star, I understand what you were going for, but you did too much too fast," Hekapoo said. "In the end, did Mewmans and Monsters get along? Or did they just begrudgingly coexist? Because honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they planned a Coup. Everything I did was to keep you safe."

"Usurping the throne doesn't feel safe to me," Star said.

"Hey, you're the one who didn't want the responsibility," Hekapoo said. "Had things gone well on Newtopia, then Sasha and Grime would have brought that authority to Mewni where they would maintain control."

"Would that have included bringing the monsters to Mewni?" Star asked.

Hekapoo shook her head in confirmation, "You know that would have been a bad idea. I'm sorry to say Star, but Mewni was not ready for that."

"Because no one wanted to give it a chance!" Star said.

"Star, Hekapoo's got a point," Sasha said. "Given how long Mewmans have been rivaled with Monsters, there's no way immediate harmony was possible. At the very least, you should have taken it slow."

"You honestly believe that?" Star asked.

"Yes, I've seen it in Amphibia," Sasha said. "There was a huge divide between Frogs, Newts and Toads. Most of it was caused by Andrias who wasn't doing anything. We took over the castle to have a chance to rebuild the world."

"Uh, that's not the vibe we got," Sprig said.

"Yeah, you straight up stated that you just wanted to be in charge," Polly said.

"Well I think I could have fixed everything," Sasha said. "We needed a stern ruler. Star was too soft, and while I obviously didn't know at the time, I thought Andrias was too soft too!"

"A good leader needs to be reasonable and strong," Hekapoo said. "That's what made a Queen like Solaria respectable. She knew how to find that balance."

"Solaria was Eclipsa's mother, right?" Luz asked.

"Oh, did you study up on Mewman History?" Hekapoo asked.

"Sort of, I've been reading the Book of Spells," Luz said. "I know I'm technically not supposed to since I'm not a Butterfly but-"

"That's quite fine," Moon said. "It's great that you took such an interest in our family history."

"I find it fascinating," Luz said. "A long line of amazing Queens who each left their mark on Mewni. I was amazed that you nearly had a natural born King once in Jushtin Butterfly."

"Oh yeah, I remember him too," Hekapoo said. "Had his sister not been born, he definitely would have taken the throne. But rules are rules, only the first born daughter can take the crown."

"Seems kind of harsh," Anne said. "First born daughter? What if Jushtin had a better way of leading his Kingdom? Like why is it a Matriarchy?"

"Hey, nothing wrong with a little Girl Power," Sasha said.

"Meh, Girl Power seems as toxic as Macho Tough Guy," Luz said. "It'd be just as bad if the crown only went to the first born son."

"Exactly," Anne said. She turned her attention to Moon, "I mean no disrespect by the way. It sounds like your family did a good job regardless, even Marcy was impressed."

"I am not bothered," Moon said. "I firmly believe in our traditions but I can understand your confusion. It's possible that Jushtin would have made a fine King, but he was a success in his own right, and he is still honored as the only male Butterfly with his name in the Book of Spells."

"I wonder if Jushtin's mother was pressured into having another baby?" Sasha asked.

"There might have been some persuasion," Hekapoo said.

"So basically, if I had a baby, and it turned out to be a boy, would I be expected to try again?" Star asked.

"Imagine if Star had only boys," Luz said.

"If that happened, then her oldest son would still be King," Hekapoo said. "But statistically, Mewman Royalty does produce female children."

"Is there something special about it?" Luz asked. "I understand if it's a Royal Bloodline thing, but if Festivia Butterfly was not born to Eclipsa like previously recorded, then how does she have the Mewman Royalty thing?"

"It's a special magic that can be obtained, but it's very difficult," Hekapoo said. "Theoretically speaking Luz, if something happened to Star and she had no kids, you could become Mewman Royalty yourself."

Luz looked amazed by this revelation, even if it did sound more hypothetical than factual, "Well, I don't want anything bad happening to Star, but that is interesting to know."

"So, Hekapoo, could Star become a better Queen?" Anne asked.

"Of course, she just needs to listen more," Hekapoo said. "But she's pretty young, so I don't blame her for the lack of wisdom."

"Wow, rude much?" Star said. "Not that it matters, if my mom's memories really have returned, then she can take back the throne."

"Can that happen?" Anne asked.

"It can, Star has the power to give the throne away," Hekapoo said. "It might be better if Moon took the throne back."

Star turned her attention to Moon, "Well mom? Do you want the throne back?"

"Ideally, yes," Moon said. "Not because I want to be Queen, but I don't want to burden you with that title at your age. It was a lot for me to handle after all."

"Oh tell me about it, I had to make decisions for every little thing!" Star said. "Honestly, the cooks need way more freedom than to just do things just because you ask them too. I know you're Queen but I can't think of dinner all the time!"

"Yes, I can see that," Moon said. "I will say, Star. You may not think it, but you are more capable of being Queen than you give yourself credit for."

"Ugh, don't give me that," Star said. "I know you're trying to make me feel better, but I royally screwed up as Queen. No pun intended."

"You struggled, but you didn't collapse under the weight," Moon said. "You've shown that you can handle the pressure, and you performed a lot better than you think you did."

"Moon, we're losing a war," Hekapoo said. "No offense to Star, but that's not exactly a sign of a good Queen."

"If Star were a bad Queen, we would all have been defeated by now," Moon said. "Star's kept us afloat, that should count for something."

"I'm with Moon," Marco said. "Star does great, she's got that potential."

"She is very mature for her age," Luz said.

"And she can come up with a good plan," Anne added.

"Hey, don't make me blush," Star said. "Look, remember that I did abandon my throne."

"You didn't, you saw a chance to take down Belos and you took it," Marco said. "Yes, the plan failed, and yes, all this happened, but it's an easy mistake to make."

"I've made plenty of mistakes," Moon said. "It's cost me a lot, but mistakes allow you to grow. Now, you still need a bit more time before you become Queen, so I will take the throne back. But somehow, I imagine you'll be ready to take the crown again before you even expect."

"...All I'm hearing is that I can be Princess Star again, and not Acting Queen," Star said.

Moon chuckled at her daughter's response, "Yes dear. I will be taking the crown back."

"Sweet!" Star cheered as she fell back on a chair. "No more Queenly duties."

"For now at least," Marco said.

"Yeah, yeah," Star replied. "Still, I'm not done with this war, but with mom's help, we can come up with a better strategy."

"Let's make some plans then," Marco said.

"One problem," Anne gestured to a depressed Hunter.

"Right, nearly forgot about him," Star said.

"It's hard for me to forget, especially after that trip we took through Belos's mind," Anne said. "I knew the dude was evil but, the stuff we saw..."

"Yeah, we're dealing with quite the psychopath here," Star said. "Andrias is probably no different too."

"I still can't believe he's been Phillip Wittibane this whole time," Luz said. "It sucks so much, I actually admired him! He was the first human in the Boiling Isles. I thought he wanted to learn about witches like I did!"

"Instead, he wants to completely wipe them out," Marco said. "It sounds like that Day of Unity thing he mentioned is the key to that."

"Belos wants to destroy Wild Magic," Star said. "Andrias wants to Conquer the Realms. Do their goals really align that much? Without certain magic, what would happen?"

"Hey, without magic, that does disarm a lot of creatures," Janna said.

"Belos mentioned only wild magic," Luz said. "Meaning he wants magic he can control."

"That or he wants to wipe it out entirely," Janna said.

"I can't see him doing that," Star said. "Is there even a way?"

"Theoretically, there is one way to destroy Magic," Hekapoo said. "Granted I don't know the range of it or how it might affect The Boiling Isles or Amphibia."

"Probably not a good idea to destroy magic, that sounds like a desperate move," Luz said. "Besides don't certain beings need magic to survive?"

"Yeah, like me," Hekapoo said. "Without magic, I would die."

Sasha's eyes widened in worry upon hearing that, "Okay, so this confirms that we are protecting magic, not getting rid of it."

"Regardless, we need as much information about the Day of Unity as possible," Anne said, then called over the boy. "Yo, Hunter!"

"Huh?" Hunter glanced at Anne.

"Mind coming over here a second, buddy?" Anne asked. Hunter walked over and sat beside the girl as she continued. "Now, I know you're sulking, so I don't know how much you heard. But we need information about Belos's Day of Unity."

"I can't help," Hunter said. "He's been very secretive about it. After today, it looks like he's been hiding a lot more secrets than even I expected..." He gently held his Palisman close. "Our family...what has he even done to them? Why would he do all those terrible things? So many were hurt because of him, so many dead too."

"I know this is hard, but I need you to try to be a little strong here," Anne said. "Regardless of what Belos did, you have a chance to put a stop to it, and avenge those he's done wrong."

"No, I'm useless," Hunter said. "Someone like me is better off dead."

"Hey! Don't say that!" Luz scolded as she sat beside Hunter. "Regardless of what Belos has done, you can make things right. Do it for yourself and for your family. Make Belos pay for his crimes."

Flapjack propped onto his shoulder and chirped at Hunter, "You really think so?"

"Is that bird talking to him?" Polly asked.

"It's a Palisman, and don't worry, it just means he's close to it," King said.

The bird continued chiping, instilling Anne with hope, "Sounds like Flapjack believes in you."

"Yeah, I'll be honest, the idea of going against Uncle Belos worries me," Hunter said. "I just don't know what to think. How do I go against someone I trusted my whole life?"

"I know the feeling, Hunter," Star said. "Growing up, I looked up to Mina Loveberry. Then she turned out to be a jerk."

"Star, no offense, but the lousy things that Mina's done pales in comparison to the messed up shit that Belos has done," Marco said. "At least Mina isn't the reason your family's missing or dead."

"Not to mention that Belos is family to Hunter," Amity said. "I don't know the full story of what Mina did, but I trust Marco's word that it's not even close."

"Honestly, even Andrias is tame compared to that," Anne said. "Granted I wasn't close with Andrias. If anything Marcy probably felt more betrayed than I did. But she didn't know Andrias as long."

"Betrayal can sting, no matter where it comes from," Hekapoo said. "Some are worse than others, but the pain is still real."

"That's why you have to count on your real friends," Anne said. She placed her arm around the former Golden Guard, "Hunter, you're one of us now, and we hereby dub our our pal."

"...Thanks," Hunter said. "But I don't deserve it. I tried to kill you."

"So? Sasha's tried to kill me and we're still friends," Anne said.

"Hey! I never did that!" Sasha said. "I was only ever going to just hurt you a bit, there's no way I would have taken your life."

"You did fight pretty hard," Sprig said.

"I had no choice," Sasha insisted as she defiantly crossed her arms. "Anne, regardless of what you think, I do care a lot about you. I was never going to seriously hurt you."

"Okay, I believe you Sasha," Anne said. "Sorry for the extreme example."

Sasha nodded her head, accepting the apology, "I'm sorry if I made you feel like I was an actual threat to your life."

"If you want a better example, Amity's tried to kill me too," Luz said.

"Oh sure, just casually bring that up," Amity said in annoyance.

"You challenged me to a duel once, you even cursed me into accepting!" Luz said. "I get the feeling that you weren't going to hold back."

"Keep it up Luz, and I will call for a rematch," Amity warned, freaking Luz out.

"Uh...okay, Amity isn't a good example either," Luz nervously said.

"Here's one," Marco said. "Star's boyfriend, Tom. He tried to kill me, now he and I are bros."

"Okay, better example," Star said, then felt worried. "I hope Tom's alright. I can't believe he did what he did. Then he wonders why I think he's so stupid sometimes."

"Tom did what he felt he had to do to protect everyone," Luz said. "It might have worked too."

"With any luck, Hop Pop will find him," Sprig said. "Especially with Eda and King River by his side."

"I'll be honest Sprig, I'm just as worried about your grandfather," Star said. "Can he handle something like this?"

"He's a lot tougher than he looks," Sprig reassured. "He'll be fine. Meanwhile I'll keep my end of the deal and keep an eye on things. Marco may be the Man of the Safehouse, but a second pair of eyes is always helpful."

"Yeah, Sprig and I totally got this," Marco then held out his hand. "High five my man." Instead of a high five, Sprig slapped Marco's hand with his tongue, grossing the boy out. "What the heck, dude!?"

"You get used to that," Anne said as Marco wiped his hand. "Now, let's get to planning."

Elsewhere within a forest in Mewni, Ludo was seen running along with Meteora Butterfly. "Not much longer before I return home. You, my dear will be the ticket to my future."

"Dada?" Meteora asked.

"Dada? You mean Belos?" Ludo asked. "Oh boy, if your actual father were here to hear such a thing. Or even your mother. Poor Eclipsa, I think we could have really gotten along."

As he continued along, he spotted a giant bird flying overhead, confusing the kappa.

"Huh? That's unusual," Ludo said as he drew closer to his home. "Oh well, soon we'll be back and...oh no..."

As Ludo arrived home, to his horror, he found his house in flames. The little monster creature fell to his knees, wondering what happened.

"What...? Who did this!?" Ludo asked in disbelief. "Mom? Dad?" Despite his terrible relationship with is parents, he still worried for their safety, but not as much as his brother. "DENNIS!"

"So...you did come home," Belos said as he emerged from some nearby trees. "And as I suspected, you have Meteora."

"Belos!?" Ludo asked. "Wait, you did this!?"

"I had no choice, your family was rather unfriendly," Belos said. "I merely asked if you were around. Your parents didn't say much, but there was that pesky older son."

"That's...that's my brother!" Ludo shouted. "What did you do to Dennis!?"

"What I had to," Belos said. "Had he cooperated, then he and your parents would still have a home."

"You...you miserable old bastard!" Ludo shouted as he took a few steps back. Upon doing so, he bumped into someone's leg. He turned to see that it was Darcy he bumped into, the Core possessed girl smiling down at Ludo.

"Hello, Ludo," Darcy greeted.

"You!" Ludo shouted as he took a step back.

Suddenly a large shadow was cast over him as Andrias stood tall next to Darcy, "I knew you couldn't be trusted."

"You're one to talk," Ludo said, taking a look around. "I dare say, I'm surrounded by fakes. A fake King who lied to his Kingdom. A fake Emperor who lied to his empire, and his nephew. And a fake being who needed a poor girl's body just to exist."

"Oh you're not wrong, we're a rather deceitful group," Darcy said as he pulled out her energy scythe. "Make no mistake though, we have no tolerance for traitors."

"Or kidnappers," Andrias said.

"Bah...again with the Hypocrisy," Ludo said as he held Meteora even closer. "This child does not belong to you. She is the daughter of Eclipsa, the woman whose life you personally struck down!"

"She made things difficult, so I had to make a difficult choice," Belos said. "It's simple really. Now if you would kindly return Meteora, perhaps I will leave you be. I am feeling generous after all."

"Generous?" Ludo asked in disbelief as he carefully placed Meteora down. "You come to my realm, you murder my family, and you still hope to keep this child from her rightful family! Then you have the nerve to tell me that you're generous!?"

"You're alive, aren't you?" Belos asked as his hand transformed into claws. "Try to keep it that way."

"Otherwise, things might not go well for you," Darcy warned while aiming her scythe.

"Choose wisely," Andrias said as he pulled his sword out. "We'd rather avoid causing more destruction."

"I have chosen wisely," Ludo said as he glared at Belos. "I've chosen to do to you what I did to Toffee! Burn in hell, Emperor Belos!"

Ludo leapt at the Emperor, with the sound of skin tearing following shortly afterwards with a flock of birds flying away from the noise.

It wasn't long before the forest was quiet again as footsteps emerged from within the woods. Belos was holding Meteora in his arms, the girl seemingly happy to be back with the Emperor.

Darcy walked beside Belos, wiping something off of her, "Looks like his blood got on these clothes."

"Shame it had to come to that," Andrias said as he also left the forest. "But, such is life. The weak will always perish."

"Indeed, it is survival of the fittest after all," Belos said.

"At least you got your kid back," Darcy said. "She looks happy to be with you."

"I too am happy." Belos looked down at Meteora as he gently tickled her stomach. "I'm sorry you had to go through that my dear. I won't let anything happen to you. After all, through you, my dreams can be maintained, as will my perfect Utopia."

"And with us around, we'll ensure that there aren't any more problems," Darcy said. "You use your Day of Unity thing to wipe out all the dangerous magic, and we'll help you wipe out those witches, and anything that can be deemed a threat. You can even be the official General of Earth. You will be the savior of Mankind, just like you want."

"I am surprised you are being so generous," Belos said.

"Hey, our goal is to conquer realms," Darcy said. "If you're willing to keep Earth under your rule, that would be a big help. Us and The Big Guy here can worry about Amphibia and Mewni. Plus any other realms that look ripe for the picking."

"Very well," Belos said. "I do wish you luck on that."

"Raise that girl well, Mewni will need a proper ruler one day," Darcy said. "Man, this is going to be so great!"

As they walked, the bird once again flew over, stopping in midair to look down.

"What is this?" Andrias asked as he looked up.

"Is that the bird from Amphibia?" Darcy asked.

"No, this one's actually larger," Andrias said.

"A native perhaps?" Belos asked.

Darcy narrowed her eyes, "I see a woman riding the bird."

Indeed the woman in question was the Mewman Warrior, Mina Loveberry. She suspiciously kept an eye on the villains before flying off, leaving them confused.

"Who was that girl?" Belos asked.

"Hm, it seems like Marcy has some faint memories of her," Darcy said. "It'll come to us sooner or later."

"She may be a formidable foe, be cautious," Andrias said.

"You worry too much, there's nothing we can't handle," Darcy said as she sinisterly chuckled. "Now, let's hurry. We got one more surprise in store for Mewni."

That night, everyone was asleep in the Safehouse. Everyone was scattered across the floor while Marco slept in a corner not too far away from Anne, Luz, Sasha and Amity. Star slept close to Maddie while Sprig and Polly slept near King. Hunter slept not too far away, or he tried to. He was still too concerned to fully fall asleep.

Suddenly there was a large thumping sound. The first one barely did anything, but the second slowly started waking everyone up.

"Huh?" Star rubbed her eyes. "What's going on?"

Within moments, the house was attacked with fireballs, startling everyone awake.

"What the hell!?" Sasha grabbed her swords.

Moon quickly stood up and took charge, "Everyone, with me!"

As she attempted to lead everyone out, more fireballs attacked, both from machines and from magic as the house was destroyed.

Everyone struggled to escape as the house was torn down, but Moon tried to keep her composure. Unfortunately the foes in question were persistent, and dangerous.

"We gotta run!" Marco said.

"Screw that, I'm fighting!" Sasha pulled her swords out. "Hey! Try coming after me you-"

The girl got hit by a fireball, knocking her near her friends.

"Mom!" Star called.

"Star, escape, quickly!" Moon urged.

"Moon, this way!" Hekapoo pulled out some scissors and opened a portal, trying to help everyone through while Maddie provided her with some cover.

"Come on!" Star led her friends toward the portal, but the house collapsed again, separating Star from her mother. "NO!"

"Star! This way!" Marco opened a portal as he along with Hunter, Sprig, Polly, King, Anne, Luz, Amity and Sasha jumped through. "Star! Hurry up!"

Much as Star did not want to leave her mother again, she had no choice and jumped through the portal just as it was blocked off by debris.

On the other side, Marco coughed up some dust, then took a quick look around. "Who's here?"

"Me, Sprig and Polly are present," Anne said, then looked to her injured friend. "So is Sasha."

"Me and Amity are here," Luz said, then took a quick look around. "So is Hunter."

"I'm here too," Star said. "But...mom, Hekapoo and Maddie..."

"Janna too," Marco said.

"I'm right behind you dude," Janna said, startling everyone.

"Sweet Jesus!" Marco shouted in worry as he and the others turned around.

"Jesus ain't here to save you my dude," Janna teased.

"Where are we?" Star asked.

"My backyard," Marco said, glancing at the Diaz House. "Looks like we're going to have to settle here for a bit."

"What about Mewni?" Luz asked.

"Yeah, and everyone else," Anne said. "What happened was nuts, how do we counter that!?"

"Worry about it tomorrow," Marco said. "Try to get some sleep if you can, we'll figure things out in the morning."

Star grumbled in annoyance. It felt like she had fewer and fewer friends right now. If she didn't act fast, there wouldn't be anyone left.

This battle was not in their favor, but that only meant they needed to try harder.
