Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Encounter
{AN: To clarify, in his previous life, mc's name is Kaito Arata. Then he was reborn in the MHA universe and took over the body of Satoshi Yamamoto. Therefor, although Kaito is technically in control, it's Satoshi's body, hence I'll start calling mc as Satoshi.}
Satoshi Yamamoto sat in deep thought, his mind swirling with the complexity of the powers he now wielded.
He thought of the Deva Path, the force manipulation that allowed him to control repulsion and attraction forces. With a mere thought, he could send his enemies soaring through the air or crush them in a rock sphere. It was the power to shape the battlefield to his will.
Then, there was the Asura Path. His body, a machine of steel was not fully human anymore. The enhancements made him stronger, faster, more durable—like a living cyborg.
The Human Path gave him another terrifying tool: The ability to read soul's memories, or temporarily expel a soul out of the body.
He also had the Animal Path, with its power to summon creatures or allies.
The Preta Path allowed him to absorb energy. It was a power that could render the most powerful of foes helpless.
And then there was the Naraka Path, the King of Hell. It granted him the ability to debuff, and interrogate—though it came with its own burdens.
But as his thoughts spiraled deeper, he couldn't bring himself to consider the Outer Path. That power, was something he wasn't ready to confront. It was a road he was unwilling to walk, for now...
Satoshi snapped out of his thoughts, his gaze shifting back to the woman in front of him. He gave her a cold look before speaking, his voice firm and steady, "I call my quirk Mecha Body."
The woman blinked, repeating the words softly, "Mecha Body?" Her eyes narrowed slightly as she took a moment to picture it, imagining Satoshi as a cyborg—a human body intertwined with metal, gears, and advanced technology. The thought seemed almost surreal, yet his presence, his cold demeanor, made it feel entirely plausible.
"So what does it do?" she asked, curiosity edging her voice as she leaned forward, eager for more details.
Satoshi's eyes flickered briefly before his usual calm returned. "When I use my quirk, my eyes turn purple and I'm able to augment my body with mechanized limbs, weaponry, and armor. In short, I turn myself into a human cyborg."
A faint smile touched the woman's lips as she absorbed this information. "That's a good quirk," she said with a nod of approval. "Very versatile. It could make you quite a formidable opponent."
Satoshi simply nodded in acknowledgment, his expression unchanging.
The woman turned her attention to her computer, her fingers flying across the keys as she inputted the details. After a moment of typing, she paused and glanced back at him. "What about weaknesses?" she asked, her voice soft but expectant. "Any limitations to your quirk?"
Internally, Satoshi flinched. "Large stamina consumption… and a huge physical demand." He thought before he blinked once before maintaining his composure. "I haven't noticed any yet," he replied, his tone neutral, though his mind remained focused on the strain he felt when using his quirk.
The woman nodded, satisfied for now. "Great," she said, her fingers returning to the keyboard. "And one last thing— Just to satisfy my curiousity, are you aiming to be a hero with such a great quirk?"
A brief smile flickered across Satoshi's face. "Yes," he replied, his voice quiet but confident. "But I'm behind the race. My quirk only manifested now, unlike most people my age. Most kids have their quirks by the time they're four. So, I'm a little late."
The woman's expression softened, and she leaned back slightly in her chair, her gaze warm as she spoke. "That's okay, Satoshi. You just need to work harder to catch up. You have a great quirk, and with determination, you can still make it."
...
A few minutes later.
As Satoshi continued walking back home, he once again passed the beach, and his gaze was immediately drawn to the two figures standing there. Izuku and the skinny man were still in the same positions.
Satoshi slowed his pace, his attention narrowing on them. With a subtle shift, he activated his Rinnegan, his vision sharpening as his eyes took in every detail.
"My eyes really look like they're deceiving me," Satoshi thought, glancing at Izuku. In his mind, he recalled the countless TikToks from his past life, where Izuku would be in intense battles, radiating power as he fought villains. But right now, the boy on the beach seemed so... ordinary. There was no energy, no hint of the strength Satoshi knew would come later. "This guy? This is the same person who'll be saving the day?" He looked like any other kid, standing there without a single trace of the potential he was supposed to hold.
Then Satoshi's gaze moved to the other figure—the skinny man beside him. He studied him carefully, his Rinnegan giving him a deeper insight into the man's energy. "Normally, it would be impossible for someone this thin to have such energy," Satoshi mused, "But then again... this is All Might. He's the only exception."
Satoshi's mind drifted, wondering how long it would take before the world discovered the truth about the man standing beside the green-haired boy.
...
As Izuku continued to pick up trash on the beach, he was lost in his thoughts when All Might spoke up.
"You can take a break, young Midoriya," All Might said, his voice light and casual.
Izuku nodded gratefully and walked over to his bag, pulling out his water bottle. He opened it and took a long drink, feeling the cool liquid refresh him. As he set the bottle back down, All Might's voice called out again.
"Can you see the guy with purple eyes on the sidewalk?"
Izuku paused, bottle in hand, and looked around. He spotted a young man, about his age, standing across the street. His purple eyes seemed to glimmer as he observed them. Izuku blinked, a bit confused at first. "Who is he?" He thought as his heart started to race as worry set in. "Could he be a villain?" He thought further.
Without thinking, Izuku hurriedly asked, "All Might, is that gut a villain? Is he after you?"
All Might let out a booming laugh, causing Izuku to flinch in surprise. "A villain? Oh Young Midoriya... even if he were, there's no way anyone would think that I'm All Might." All Might gestured to himself, his skinny form clearly a far cry from his usual heroic build. "No one's gonna think someone like me for the symbol of peace right now!"
Izuku looked back at the boy, now feeling slightly embarrassed. The idea of anyone mistaking All Might in his current form for a hero seemed almost laughable. Still, the boy's purple eyes lingered in his mind, making him curious about what he was really doing there.
All Might, still chuckling, clapped Izuku on the back. "Don't worry about it. Let's finish up here, alright?"
Izuku nodded, still unsure about the stranger, but grateful that All Might's laughter had eased some of his worries.
...
Satoshi watched quietly from across the sidewalk as Izuku took a break, noticing how he seemed to relax as he drank from his water bottle. His gaze shifted back to the two of them, sensing that they had now noticed him.
A pang of panic stirred in his chest. "Did they notice me staring?" His thoughts raced as he considered what they might be thinking about him. "They're probably thinking I'm some kind of stalker..." He frowned at the idea, not wanting to come across as creepy. He had no intention of causing any trouble, but now, with them looking at him, the situation felt awkward.
Satoshi's mind spun as he thought about his next move. "I could just leave..." That would be the safest option, right? Just turn around and walk away. But then, the more he thought about it, the worse it seemed. "No, if I leave now, they'll definitely think I'm some stalker who got caught. I'll just look guilty." The thought of that made his frustration bubble up.
With a quiet sigh, he muttered under his breath, "Fuck it."
He pushed the nerves aside and decided to approach them. It was better to confront the situation head-on than to risk making it worse by running off. The purple eyes of his rinnegan shimmered briefly in the daylight, and he began walking toward the pair, as his eyes turned normal.
As Satoshi drew closer, he noticed Izuku glance at All Might. The skinny man simply smiled at him, his expression easygoing. However, in his mind, he thought. "Did his eyes change?"
Just as he was about to speak, the skinny man broke the silence first, his voice booming with a friendly tone. "Do you need something, young man?"
Satoshi kept his expression neutral, his voice calm and deliberate. "The beach used to be a dump," he said, casually glancing around. "Did you guys clean it up?"
All Might's smile seemed to widen as he let out a hearty laugh, clearly pleased with the question. "Oh, that's all him!" he said, gesturing toward Izuku. "Young Midoriya's been working hard on it. Give him credit, he's the one who did all the cleaning."
Izuku, clearly caught off guard, stuttered as he scratched the back of his head, his face flushed with embarrassment. "W-well, I've been cleaning it for months now…" he said, his voice trailing off.
Satoshi blinked. "Months?" He thought as he couldn't help but respect the dedication Izuku had shown, even if it was a seemingly small task.
Satoshi paused for a moment after hearing Izuku's response, his thoughts momentarily drifting. He looked at Izuku with a "renewed respect" before speaking up again. "You must be determined," he said, his voice calm. "After all, you cleaned the whole beach when even the government seemed to have given up on it."
Izuku seemed to brighten at the praise, a shy but proud smile forming on his face. Satoshi, noticing the awkwardness of the situation, quickly added, "Oh, and I'm sorry. I should've introduced myself earlier." He straightened up, offering a polite nod. "I'm Satoshi Yamamoto."
Izuku then quickly responded. "I-I'm Izuku Midoriya!" he stammered, glancing briefly at All Might before continuing, "It's nice to meet you."
All Might, seeing the brief exchange between the two, chuckled. "You can just call me Yagi, Young Yamamoto." he said, his voice still light and friendly.
As the introductions wrapped up, Satoshi's mind began to turn. He watched the two, Izuku and All Might, carefully. "All Might is still trying to hide his identity... and they think I don't know." A small smirk tugged at the corner of Satoshi's lips as he realized the situation. "If I suddenly ask for help with training, they might get suspicious, or worse, think I'm trying to dig into their business." The last thing he needed was to make a bad impression, especially on someone like All Might.
"But..." Satoshi thought, "it would be rude if I bluntly asked for advice... However... if they offered it first, that's a whole different story." His eyes shifted slightly as he considered how to steer the conversation in his favor.
After a beat, Satoshi spoke, breaking the silence that had lingered between them. "Midoriya's actions here are really impressive," he said, a touch of admiration in his voice. "Unlike me, I've mostly just stayed at home and studied for the UA entrance exam."
His words were carefully chosen, the tone casual but with a hint of humility. He watched as Izuku reacted, the shy but proud smile returning to his face, while All Might's expression seemed to soften.
As soon as Izuku heard Satoshi mention the UA entrance exam, his eyes lit up. "Wait, you're applying for UA too?" Izuku asked, excitement and curiosity clear in his voice. "Are you applying for the Hero Course?"
Satoshi's smile grew in his mind at the perfect turn of events. "This is it." He quickly shifted his expression to a more subdued one, letting his joy fade into a mask of embarrassment. His gaze dropped slightly as if hesitating before he spoke.
"I... I actually applied for the General Studies course," Satoshi said, the words coming out with an intentional pause, letting the information sink in. He gave them a moment before continuing, lowering his voice slightly. "I want to be a hero, yes... but I've been quirkless."
The moment the words left his mouth, he watched Izuku's and All Might's faces change. Izuku's expression quickly shifted from curiosity to empathy, while All Might's face tightened, as though the information caught him off guard. Both were clearly taken aback by the revelation. Satoshi could practically feel the weight of their thoughts as they processed what he'd just said.
All Might was the first to break the silence, his voice filled with genuine sympathy. "I'm really sorry to hear that," he said, his tone softening as he looked at Satoshi.
Izuku, however, was still processing Satoshi's words. As he thought about it, his mind began to compare their situations. "He's quirkless... just like me..." Izuku thought. The similarity made him pause, feeling a sense of understanding toward the other boy. He was about to speak, but Satoshi cut in before he could.
"You don't need to apologize, Mr. Yagi," Satoshi said, his tone steady. "I'm a late bloomer. My quirk only manifested yesterday."
Both Izuku and All Might blinked in surprise, their eyes widening at the unexpected turn of events. Satoshi paused for a moment, letting their surprise settle in, before he continued.
"But even though I have a quirk now," Satoshi went on, "my body's still too weak to properly handle it. And the applications for the Hero Course have already closed." He let out a small sigh, his expression reflecting his determination. "For now, my plan is to get into UA through the General Studies course, work on my body, and impress the teachers during the UA Festival to get promoted to the Hero Course."
Izuku and All Might both nodded, contemplating the strategy. It made sense—it was a practical and strategic plan. Izuku, in particular, couldn't help but admire Satoshi's resolve.
As Satoshi finished speaking, Izuku thought about how he could help someone like him—someone who had been quirkless, just like how he currently is. "Maybe I can offer him some advice or training, just like I wished someone would've done for me." The thought lingered in Izuku's mind as he glanced at All Might, who was looking at him in turn.
Their eyes met, and in that moment, it was like they were communicating without words. Both of them understood the experience—the feeling of being behind because of being quirkless. Izuku still hadn't gained his quirk, and All Might had once been in the same position before he became the holder of One for All. Both of them knew what it was like to be in Satoshi's shoes.
