Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Supreme Sorcerer Spider-Man!

"What just happened in that world?"

As soon as they arrived in another world, Gwen immediately asked the question.

Peter still had a lingering look of fear on his face.

He replied, "That world was actually already destroyed. What we just saw was it being restored to its original state."

"What? My world was destroyed?" Electro was shocked, his expression shifting dramatically.

Peter gave him a sympathetic look, nodded, and then reached out to pat his shoulder in consolation.

It was hard to say whether Electro was unlucky or fortunate.

Unlucky, because he should have already died in the "past." However, by some twist of fate, he encountered Peter, who changed his destiny and saved him.

Compared to the others, he was far luckier.

But if you really called it luck... the world he had lived in all his life was gone, leaving him as nothing more than a true multiversal wanderer.

That was tragic.

Like being the ultimate version of homeless.

(Though, to be fair, Peter wasn't much better off himself.)

However, Peter didn't have much attachment to his original world. Instead, he had started to enjoy his current life.

Though it was hectic, it was fulfilling.

And being a superhero was actually pretty great.

Unlike most Spider-Men, he didn't just stay in a single world, doing good while basking in the gratitude of countless people.

He also wasn't like the Avengers, who were widely revered by the public.

Nor was he like Iron Man, gaining both fame and fortune.

Yet, through his own efforts, he had built something for himself—from a penniless dimensional traveler to where he was now.

He had met numerous superheroes, earned the friendship of figures like Black Panther, and even formed his own network, establishing financial partnerships across different worlds.

Compared to his previous life as a struggling writer, this was infinitely more exciting.

Unfortunately, he didn't know how to comfort Electro.

This was something he would have to work through on his own.

Maybe time could heal everything.

Peter briefly explained the situation of the Extraordinary Universe-2 to Electro, but after that, he left him standing there, questioning his entire existence.

Instead, Peter began observing his surroundings.

Since their teleportation had been rushed, he wasn't exactly sure which universe this was.

There were no buildings in sight—only an endless expanse of jungle stretching as far as the eye could see.

Peter smacked his forehead.

He had completely forgotten—earlier, when they were in the Extraordinary Universe-2, they had been in a vast forest in the central region of Britannia.

And interdimensional travel sometimes worked like phase-shifting, meaning they had likely arrived in a parallel universe at roughly the same location.

In other words, this should also be the central region of Britannia in this world.

Peter extended his hand, only then remembering that in the chaos, he had grabbed the Sling Ring left behind by that universe's Doctor Strange.

It was a simple-looking ring with an ancient design. Other than that, it didn't seem particularly remarkable at first glance.

In the original timeline, it didn't get much screen time.

But its function was far from insignificant.

Its primary purpose? To distinguish between a true Sorcerer Supreme and a fake one. (Cross that out.)

A certain "true Sorcerer Supreme" had merely happened to get his hands on the Sling Ring, casually drew a circle in the air, and—just like that—opened a portal, summoning two lost Spider-Men.

A certain "fake Sorcerer Supreme" practiced for two and a half months, nearly froze to death on a snowy mountain, and only then barely managed to learn how to use it.

So, now it's clear who the real Sorcerer Supreme is and who the fake one is, right?

Ahem, back to the main topic.

The Sling Ring may not have been particularly prominent in the original story, but it is actually a very important piece of equipment for sorcerers.

Its biggest function is serving as a tool to assist in spellcasting.

When Peter first got his hands on it, he quickly realized that with the help of the Sling Ring, a spell that originally had a difficulty level of 10 now felt more like a 9.

Don't underestimate that 1-point difference.

That single point could be the deciding factor in whether a spell can be successfully cast.

In the heat of battle, if every spell required just a little less effort, it would reduce the overall energy consumption, increase the casting speed, and allow for more spells to be cast in total.

For a magic novice like Peter, the usefulness of such an item was undeniable.

Gwen asked, "Is this something you got from the last world?"

Peter nodded, took off the Sling Ring, and held it out to her. "Want to give it a try?"

Gwen took it and attempted to use it, but unfortunately, nothing happened. She returned it to Peter with a shrug.

Peter reassured her, "I'll teach you some magic when we have time. Who knows? You might just pick it up."

"Okay!" Gwen nodded with a smile.

Then, Peter turned to look at Electro.

Although Electro still seemed a bit down, he had clearly adjusted his mindset. Now, he was simply waiting for Peter's next move.

Seeing this, Peter let out a small sigh of relief.

Good. Electro had been through enough that he wasn't overly fragile. Otherwise, Peter really wouldn't have known how to cheer him up.

With a casual swipe of his hand, Peter conjured a portal in the air.

"Let's go check out what kind of world this is."

He had barely finished speaking when something exploded through the portal from the other side.

His Spidey-Sense tingled slightly—but not too strongly.

Peter immediately knew that whatever it was, it wasn't a significant threat to him.

He shot out a web, caught the object, and flung it aside.

Thud!

The thing hit the ground.

Only then did Peter realize—it was just a chunk of rubble.

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

Explosions echoed non-stop.

Peter and Gwen exchanged glances, both speechless.

What the hell? Why is it that every time they enter a new world, they always end up in the middle of a fight?

Is this just how the Marvel Universe works? Heroes and villains clashing at all times? Kinda love it.

Well, as frustrating as it was, Peter had already grown used to it.

Maybe this was his fate—to always end up in chaotic worlds.

So, it wasn't trouble coming to him—it was him constantly walking into trouble.

"Come on, let's see what kind of mess this world is in now," Peter said, pretending to be helpless as he stepped through the Any-Door.

Gwen giggled behind her hand and followed with a cheerful bounce in her step.

Behind them, Electro watched their carefree demeanor. The heaviness in his heart lifted slightly.

His world was gone, but looking at it another way… he had been given a new life.

And the ones who had given him that chance were the two people in front of him.

"Maybe this kind of life isn't so bad after all. A cross-dimensional task force? Sounds like something I should be part of!"
