Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Multiverse

Chapter 156: Chapter 155: The Hidden Hand Behind Chaos

After this world reached its end and became a desolate wasteland, the universe once again fell into a state of chaos.

By some "coincidence," the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom from another world arrived here, triggering this world's equilibrium mechanism and causing a massive energy eruption.

In the ensuing battle between the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom, they inexplicably managed to defeat him.

However, behind the scenes, there was a hidden hand at play.

Before his death, the extraordinary Doctor Strange of this world had foreseen this outcome.

Everything pointed to a "great being" of multiversal significance.

This entity wielded an immense power and had a particularly close connection with one—or perhaps several—members of the Fantastic Four.

It was for this reason that the entity covertly influenced events, orchestrating everything from the shadows.

Yet, for reasons unknown, Extraordinary Doctor Strange-2 did not leave behind the entity's name or any specific information within the fragments of his memory.

However, Peter—who had been to the Extraordinary Universe—immediately made a connection.

A multiversal-level being!

An entity with vast influence!

A figure closely tied to one or more members of the Fantastic Four!

Wasn't all of this pointing directly to Nathaniel Richards?

Could it be that the destroyed universe that Extraordinary Doctor Strange had seen was actually Extraordinary Universe-2?

Or was it that Nathaniel Richards had discovered Extraordinary Doctor Strange's traces during their confrontation and pursued him?

And in the end, unable to locate the hidden Extraordinary Universe, he instead, by sheer mischance, stumbled upon and annihilated Extraordinary Universe-2?

The lack of information was frustrating. No matter how hard Peter racked his brain, he couldn't piece everything together.

For now, he chose to keep this revelation in mind, deciding to search for more clues in his future travels.

But this also meant that he had to be even more cautious moving forward.

If before, Extraordinary Doctor Strange's warnings about Nathaniel Richards had only scratched the surface, then now, the tragic fate of Extraordinary Universe-2 stood as undeniable proof—gruesome and undeniable.

An entire universe...

Wiped out simply because of certain connections...

Compared to him, Thanos was nothing more than child's play.

After silently digesting all this information, Peter opened his eyes once more.

Crack—

Just then, a sudden sound echoed from nearby.

Peter's expression changed.

He stretched out his hand and desperately began drawing a circle in the air.

"Portal, open!"

Nothing happened.

"Portal, open!"

Whoosh—

A faint glimmer flashed, forming a hole the size of a fist, but there was still no significant response.

At that moment, a streak of light suddenly shot out from the corner of the room and struck Peter's hand.

Instinctively, he caught it—only to realize that it was a ring.

The Sorcerer Supreme's Ring!

"P-Portal... OPEN!"

Sliding the ring onto his left hand, Peter drew another circle and shouted once more.

Whoosh—

Rip—

Space tore open.

A halo appeared before the three of them.

"Peter?" Gwen looked at him in shock. She had no idea when Peter had learned this trick.

"Is this... magic?" Electro asked in surprise.

But Peter had no time to explain.

"Hurry, go!"

Gwen and Electro quickly jumped through the portal.

Peter followed closely behind.

As soon as they passed through, the portal closed rapidly.

On the other side, they found themselves in a vast jungle.

At that moment, the pterosaur Norman and the three-headed mutant dinosaurs were happily feasting.

The jungle's predators were having terrible luck, encountering these four behemoths.

Not only were they fast, but they were also incredibly strong and heavily armored, leaving the forest creatures with no choice but to be beaten and devoured.

When Peter and his companions appeared, the pterosaur Norman was in the middle of tilting its head back, swallowing a wolf whole—fur and all—making their scalps tingle in horror.

"Boss, what's going on?"

A mutant dinosaur, chewing on its meal nearby, asked curiously.

Peter's expression was serious. Without a word, he grabbed the dinosaur's tail and tossed it into the quantum space.

Then, using the same method, he threw Norman and the other two mutant dinosaurs in as well.

As he did this, the mountain where the Sanctum Sanctorum stood behind them began to collapse at an alarming rate, transforming into a pitch-black void.

Peter knew exactly what it was—

It was the End of the World.

A time vortex!

It turned out that this world's version of Supreme Doctor Strange—Doctor Strange-2—had glimpsed the future and, using immense soul energy, influenced the past to warn his former self in advance.

As a result, his past self had begun collecting the six Infinity Stones.

Using their power, he sealed this world's "past" and significantly prolonged it.

The sealed location was none other than the locked basement!

That basement was a time vortex connecting the "past" and the "present."

And right now, Peter and his friends were in this world's "past."

Now, the seal had been undone.

The "present" was rapidly overwriting the "past," restoring the world to its original state.

Just as Peter had seen through the Soul Stone fragment—

A world that was connected to the universe of the Fantastic Four!

But Peter didn't want to go there!

First, he wasn't sure if arriving at that moment would lead to an encounter with that world's Doctor Doom.

That Doom was completely unhinged—his mind was filled with nothing but destruction, like a full-blown maniac.

Wait, scratch that—he was a maniac.

And yet, this maniac was ridiculously powerful.

Bullets? Even at point-blank range, they were useless against him.

Meanwhile, he could take down anyone just by glaring at them.

It was like he had an invincibility cheat activated!

If the Fantastic Four hadn't suddenly powered up at the last moment, and if Doom hadn't randomly frozen like a broken NPC, he would've wiped the floor with them.

From the memory fragments left by Doctor Strange-2, Peter knew that all of this was orchestrated by Nathaniel Richards!

Reed Richards and Sue Richards were his ancestors—of course, he would go to any lengths to ensure their survival for his own existence!

But Peter and his team wouldn't be so lucky.

Chances were, they'd get caught by Doom and wiped out.

And there was another reason.

Peter already knew that Nathaniel Richards was the one pulling the strings.

His influence likely spanned the entire multiverse. He was a multiversal-level overlord—a major villain.

So why on Earth would Peter willingly jump into his trap?

That would be like lighting a candle in a restroom—just asking for death!

His only thought now was: Get as far away as possible!

With that in mind, Peter swiftly tossed the parchment vulture into the quantum space, hurriedly opened another portal, and escaped into another world!
