"Old One-Eye, I'm going to kill him!"

Amy's whole body trembled upon hearing the name "Old One-Eye." But it wasn't fear that caused her reaction—it was rage.

It was because of this dark wizard that someone like her, once the most promising candidate to head the Auror Office, had been reduced to her current state.

What stung the most wasn't the loss of honor or position. As an Auror, what haunted her was the helplessness and crushing defeat she felt when she had to watch fifty Muggles get slaughtered by the dark wizard, unable to do anything to stop it.

After being dismissed, she spent a frenzied period hunting down leads on Old One-Eye. But how could a dark wizard, wanted internationally, be so easily tracked by just one person?

When her search turned up nothing, she resorted to drowning her sorrows in alcohol. As the days passed and her drinking left her incapable of working, her pockets ran dry. Eventually, she was forced to sell her home and move into the Leaky Cauldron.

"Amy, don't be reckless. Old One-Eye is powerful and has a number of dark wizard subordinates. He won't be easy to deal with.

Stay home and wait. Tonight, I swear I'll catch him myself.

Given the crimes he's committed, the final verdict will undoubtedly be the death penalty!"

Lina hugged Amy to comfort her.

France's Ministry of Magic was different from Britain's. No matter how grave a wizard's crime in Britain, the most severe punishment was imprisonment in Azkaban. There was no death penalty.

However, France, like the U.S., permitted the death penalty for severe wizarding crimes.

For instance, Voldemort's Death Eaters would have all been executed long ago if they were in France.

If Old One-Eye were captured by French Aurors, he would face trial in the French Ministry of Magic, and if sentenced to death, the punishment would be carried out the same day.

"Ancient magical contraband, huh? Interesting."

George's attention wasn't on Old One-Eye but rather on the ancient magical contraband Lina had just mentioned.

Magical contraband typically referred to items imbued with dark magic through alchemy.

These items were extremely dangerous and were banned by the Ministry of Magic. If caught trading them, offenders would be arrested and put on trial immediately.

A prison sentence of several years was almost guaranteed.

Ancient magical contraband, however, referred to items crafted with ancient magic and excavated from wizarding tombs.

While the danger level of these items was often unknown, they held significant archaeological value and provided insights into ancient magic, making them highly valuable. Many wizards were willing to pay exorbitant prices to acquire them.

However, according to Ministry of Magic regulations, digging up wizarding tombs was illegal. After all, no one wanted their own grave to be desecrated in the future, only to have strange magic cast on their remains.

The bigger problem was that many ancient magical artifacts carried terrifying curses, which, if mishandled, could have catastrophic consequences.

A century ago, an American wizard purchased an ancient magical artifact stolen from beneath the pyramids at a high price from a dark wizard. Improper handling of the artifact resulted in the deaths of 300 Muggles in the surrounding area.

Thus, in every country, smuggling and trading ancient magical contraband was considered a severe crime.

Under Lina's persuasion, Amy finally calmed down.

However, later that evening, when Lina left to meet her team, George noticed Amy using a Disillusionment Charm to invisibly follow her.

How did George notice? Because he had also cast a Disillusionment Charm and was tailing them as well.

The difference was that Amy was walking behind Lina, tracking her footsteps, while George spread his wings and flew above them, keeping watch from the sky.

Since Old One-Eye was smuggling ancient magical contraband, George figured there might be clues about ancient magic among the items.

The two followed Lina to the western side of Magic Street, where she met up with a group of Ministry Aurors in front of a magical creature performance troupe's tent.

It was clear that Old One-Eye had chosen this performance troupe's tent as the location for his smuggling operation.

Magical creature troupes were similar to Muggle circuses, except the trainers were wizards, and the performers were magical creatures from around the world.

Unlike troupes from decades ago, which featured highly dangerous magical creatures like Runespoor, Chimaeras, Nundu Leopards, and Zouwu, modern troupes had been reformed.

Now, they showcased rare but visually captivating creatures, such as Mooncalves, Snidgets, and Fwoopers—beautiful to watch but far less dangerous.

These troupes were also one of the few private entities permitted to use undetectable extension charms on their tents, a precaution taken by the Ministry to prevent magical creatures from accidentally escaping and causing chaos.

During the summer holidays, every week brought a different magical creature performance troupe to France's Magic Street. George had attended two of these shows before.

However, since the performances didn't feature powerful magical creatures like the Zouwu, he lost interest and stopped going.

Now, as George watched Lina and the Aurors disguise themselves as ordinary visitors to buy tickets and enter the tent, Amy dispelled her Disillusionment Charm, bought a ticket, and followed them inside. Finding a spot to land, George also undid his invisibility charm and purchased a ticket to enter.

The tent used by the magical creature performance troupe was protected by various counter-charms, rendering spells like the Disillusionment Charm and Apparition ineffective.

This was primarily to prevent wizards from sneaking in invisibly or teleporting to avoid buying tickets.

"So many people—it's going to be hard to find them!"

As soon as George stepped into the tent, he was greeted by the sight of hundreds of witches and wizards packed tightly together. The crowd likely numbered in the high hundreds.

It was Saturday, after all. Adult wizards had the day off, and many took advantage of the summer holidays to bring their young witches and wizards to the show.

From the outside, the tent appeared to cover an area of about 100 square meters, but inside, it was likely as large as two football fields.

In addition to various stages scattered around, each hosting a unique magical creature performance, there were vendors selling all sorts of snacks and booths offering paid magical experiences.

Among the treats were enormous, soft cotton candies that made your body feel as fluffy as clouds and could transform into magical fireworks resembling dragons, phoenixes, or thunderbirds when pulled apart.

For just a single Silver Sickle, visitors could also ride floating magical bubbles that drifted through the air.

Weaving through the crowd amid magical fireworks, floating bubbles, and other distractions, George lost track of Lina and Amy, who had already blended into the sea of people. He decided to find a higher vantage point to observe the situation.

He wasn't too worried, though—once the Aurors confronted the dark wizards, it would be hard to miss.

As expected, less than half an hour later, a massive explosion erupted at a stage six platforms away from where George was.

Immediately afterward, he heard a voice amplified by the Sonorus Charm announce:

"Aurors from the Ministry of Magic are apprehending dark wizards. Uninvolved wizards, please evacuate the tent immediately!"

Chaos ensued as wizards began screaming and rushing out of the tent. As the crowd thinned, George finally got a clear view of the stage where the action was unfolding.

Two groups were locked in a standoff on the platform. On one side were Lina and the French Ministry of Magic Aurors, and on the other was Old One-Eye and his gang of dark wizards.

The confrontation hadn't escalated into a full-blown fight yet, likely because Old One-Eye's group had taken several ordinary wizards hostage.
