Marvel X The Boys

Chapter 40: The Literal End (For Now)

The Kaiju was gone.

The battle had ripped the city apart, but thanks to Alex's reality-warping god-tier nonsense, it was finally over.

But nobody was celebrating.

Because the TV screens were still buzzing.

And that voice—the slow, mocking clap, the shadowed figure standing in fire and ruin—

It wasn't over.

The Aftermath

The battlefield was eerily quiet.

No more explosions. No more monsters.Just the wind blowing through broken glass and rubble.

Spider-Man landed beside Alex, eyes narrowed. "Okay, man. We gotta talk about what just happened."

Alex still felt the Gauntlet's energy tingling in his veins.

He looked at his hands.

"I just… erased a goddamn Kaiju."

Deadpool threw an arm around him.

"Yeah, and IT WAS AWESOME!"

Butcher, dusting himself off, muttered, "Too awesome, if you ask me."

Steve sighed. "We need answers."

Tony's AI flashed warnings in his HUD.

"Agreed. Because whatever just spoke on that broadcast? It wasn't bluffing."

The TV Broadcast Continues

The TV flickered violently.

Then—

The shadowy figure stepped forward.

Fire raged around him. The city behind him was unrecognizable.

His face remained hidden, but his presence?

Pure menace.

Then he spoke.

"This world… is getting interesting."

A slight chuckle.

"A god-tier weapon in the hands of a nobody? Heroes and villains fighting side by side?"

He tilted his head.

"Pathetic."

The screen glitched again.

For a brief second, a name appeared in distorted text.

But only Alex saw it.

[High Priority Target: Alex Harper]

Then, the feed cut to black.

Alex's Panic Mode

Alex felt his stomach drop.

"Uh. Guys?"

Tony turned to him. "What?"

Alex swallowed hard.

"I… I think he was talking about me."

Everyone turned to him.

Deadpool gasped.

"OH MY GOD, YOU'RE THE MAIN CHARACTER!"

Homelander scoffed. "You? Please."

Spider-Man folded his arms. "You do have the freaking Infinity Gauntlet."

Steve clenched his jaw. "Then we protect you."

Alex exhaled. "Yeah. Cool. Great. Love being hunted by a mystery villain."

Then—

Strange opened a portal.

"We don't have time for this. We need to regroup."

Everyone exchanged glances.

Nobody argued.

And one by one—

They stepped into the portal.

The portal opened inside Avengers Tower.

They had all made it back.

The battle was over.

For now.

A Plan Moving Forward

Tony sat at the table, arms crossed.

"Alright. First things first—what the hell do we do now?"

Doctor Strange tapped his fingers.

"We need to train Alex. He has power, but no control."

Alex groaned. "Oh yay. A training arc."

Deadpool cheered. "HELL YEAH, TRAINING MONTAGE!"

Spider-Man patted Alex's shoulder.

"Look at it this way—at least you have cool powers. I got bitten by a radioactive spider and now I pay rent in New York."

Homelander rolled his eyes. "Pathetic."

Butcher lit a cigarette. "We also need to figure out who that bloke on the screen was."

Steve nodded. "Agreed. We don't know what's coming."

Strange turned to Alex.

"And you? You need to master the Gauntlet. Fast."

Alex sighed.

"Yeah. No pressure."

The TVA's Next Move

Meanwhile, back at the TVA…

Mobius stood in front of a massive screen, reviewing the damage.

The Kaiju battle. The time breaches. The interference.

And then—

His gaze locked onto Alex Harper.

The screen flashed warnings.

[VARIANT THREAT LEVEL: UNKNOWN][INFINITY GAUNTLET POSSESSION: UNAUTHORIZED]

Mobius exhaled.

"Well. That's not good."

Then—

A voice behind him.

"Perhaps it's time to bring in a specialist."

Mobius turned—

And his eyes widened.

Back at the tower, Alex stood on the balcony, looking at the city.

New York was still standing.

Barely.

The Gauntlet felt heavy on his hand.

Deadpool popped up next to him.

"Whatcha thinking, champ?"

Alex sighed.

"That I have no idea what the hell I'm doing."

Deadpool nodded.

"Yup. Sounds about right."

A pause.

Then Deadpool grinned.

"BUT HEY—at least you're still alive! For now."

Alex groaned. "Great. Super reassuring."

He looked out at the skyline.

Something big was coming.

And for better or worse—

He had to be ready.

End of Volume One.
