Chapter 26: Chapter 25. Mission Complete and a New Summoning!
In Noah's Manhattan home, the floor in one section of the living room suddenly began to dampen. Water seeped through the floor, and soon a small puddle formed. Without warning, a giant catfish leaped out of the puddle, and the floor immediately dried, as if nothing had happened.
"Huh? Why is the floor wet?" Noah noticed as he regained his senses, seeing the wet patch in his living room. It annoyed him. He used a bit of magic to evaporate all the water from the floor.
"Much better. Now, let's get that vibranium out of my stomach, and we can finish the mission," he said, feeling much better. He couldn't stand it when the floor was wet. He then patted his stomach, where all the collected vibranium was stored. Noah could feel its presence and was ready to extract it.
"Uh... what to do?" Noah thought. If he pulled out such a huge chunk of vibranium here, the house might collapse. So, he needed to figure out a way to store it. If he completed the mission and Tahm Kench's card effect wore off, the vibranium might either appear right in front of him or vanish completely.
"Got it! I wonder if this will work," Noah remembered his system backpack, into which he could store a large number of items. He decided to try transferring all the vibranium into the backpack, hoping it would work. He concentrated and attempted to move all the vibranium from his stomach into the backpack.
"It worked!" Noah cheered as he felt the vibranium disappear from his stomach. He opened his system backpack and saw that all the vibranium had turned into an icon displaying its weight: tons, representing the total weight of the vibranium.
"Perfect! The system backpack is really enormous! And I can even take out the vibranium in smaller parts," Noah marveled. He adjusted the value to 100 grams and extracted a small piece of vibranium.
A small cube of vibranium floated in his hand.
"Only 100 grams, and it's worth a million dollars," Noah thought. He returned the vibranium to the backpack and moved on to completing the mission. Noah eagerly awaited to see how much essence he would receive for completing an A-rank mission. He opened the system panel and selected the option to complete the mission.
[Mission Complete. Summoner receives 6000 Essence and a Hextech Chest.]
"6000 essence! That's ten summons! A-rank missions really do pay off! And a Hextech Chest? Seems like you can get shards or something from it," Noah thought, filled with joyful anticipation. He decided to start with the magic engine and test his luck.
He clicked on the magic engine, which slowly began to open, emitting a radiant glow.
[Shard: Sheriff of Piltover – Caitlyn]
[Shard: Piltover Enforcer – Vi]
[Shard: Highlander Tryndamere]
[Shard: Waterloo Miss Fortune]
"Hmm, four shards, two from Piltover, not great," Noah noted. Vi and Caitlyn, in their universe, were just regular humans, so their shards could only be used for merging. The skins weren't impressive either—just fusion material.
"But the power of these champions will come in handy," Noah thought. He decided to absorb their strength, gaining Vi's combat skills and Caitlyn's shooting abilities. He felt his battle prowess improve.
"Now for the main event – ten summons!" Noah shook his head, feeling a slight tension from the rush of new knowledge. He eagerly anticipated the new summons, filled with excitement and hope.
Rubbing his hands together, Noah opened the summoning panel. He already had 2500 essence, and now, after completing the mission, he had an additional 6000. He now had 8500 essence. He knew that after completing ten summons, he would receive even more essence, allowing him to perform additional summons. But first, he had to focus on the current task.
Pressing the summon button, Noah watched the familiar effects: lights, orbs, all flashing quickly before his eyes. Then, the light dispersed, and the results of the summoning appeared before him.
One of the orbs glowed brightly and flew toward him, indicating that a valuable item had dropped. A flood of memories rushed into his mind.
Piltover, school life, the disappearance of parents, adventures – all these filled his consciousness. But Noah was already used to such sensations, so he quickly regained his composure. He looked down and saw a bronze gauntlet with a bright stone in the center had appeared on his left hand.
"That's Ezreal's Gauntlet! So, I summoned Ezreal this time," Noah thought, as new knowledge filled his mind. This time, he had summoned the champion named Ezreal, the Prodigal Explorer, often called "Riot's golden boy" by players.
"This time, I got gear along with the summon! So why didn't I get Yasuo's sword last time?" he wondered, recalling that when he summoned Yasuo, he hadn't received his weapon.
However, thinking about Ezreal's backstory, Noah understood the reason. Yasuo's power didn't depend on his sword, whereas Ezreal wielded magic through the ancient bronze gauntlet he had found in a Shuriman tomb. This artifact was once the weapon of the Shuriman tyrant Ne'Zuk.
"This gauntlet is amazing—it can attack and teleport," Noah thought, feeling the energy of the artifact. He recalled Ezreal's memories of using the gauntlet to teleport several hundred meters to the tomb's entrance just as it began to collapse. The gauntlet also allowed him to fire Mystic Shot and use the Essence Flux ability, which sent out an unstable energy orb that enveloped the target and exploded upon impact.
The Arcane Shift skill was Noah's favorite. This skill was far more useful than the simple Flash spell, as its cooldown was much shorter. And Trueshot Barrage (Ezreal's ultimate ability) allowed him to release a powerful energy wave after charging the gauntlet.
Noah channeled his magical energy into the bronze gauntlet, which began to glow with a blue light. He could feel that he could release these energy waves at any moment.
"Not bad at all," Noah concluded, feeling satisfied. Although Ezreal was just a regular human, his gauntlet was a powerful Ascended artifact. The strength displayed by Ezreal and Noah would differ, as with each new hero summoned, Noah's power would also grow.
Next, Noah inspected the remaining nine summon items.
[Health Potion x2]
[Control Ward]
[Kircheis Shard]
[Long Sword]
[Mana Potion x3]
[Special Building: Hextech Laboratory]
[Blasting Wand]
[Health Potion x2]
[Dagger]
"Now the potions come in packs? And the gear is quite varied," Noah remarked in surprise. He remembered that at the beginning, potions used to drop one at a time, and figured his luck had either improved or the system had been updated.
Among the gear was a yellow-orange bolt—one of the components for assembling Statikk Shiv. There was also a Blasting Wand, which was part of several legendary items. But since he couldn't yet assemble these legendary items, he simply placed all the obtained gear in his inventory.
"A special building? What's that?" Noah's curiosity was piqued by one of the items. It was a card depicting a high-tech building in Piltover's architectural style.
[Hextech Laboratory: After use, allows you to build a Hextech Laboratory in a selected location. This laboratory, owned by Heimerdinger, is where he created many amazing and groundbreaking technologies.]
After reading the card's description, Noah was thrilled. This was truly a gift from fate. Now he could sell some vibranium and start building his own base. This card would be extremely useful, especially with the knowledge he had received from Heimerdinger.
"Today, my luck is incredible! I need to take advantage of this and open the chest," Noah said, not forgetting about the chest that still hadn't been opened. Riding the wave of good fortune, he opened the chest.
[Received 2000 Essence]
[Received Ruby Crystal]
"2000 essence and a Ruby Crystal—now I have 4500 essence. Awesome, I'll soon have 6000 again," Noah celebrated, placing the Ruby Crystal in his inventory. He felt a slight enhancement in his body, though, due to the constant strengthening from the Courage Rune, the effect was barely noticeable.
"Now I need to figure out how to sell the vibranium," Noah thought. Moments later, an idea came to mind.
