Marvel: Beginning with the Collection of Shinra Tensei

Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Bounty Players

Hearing the voice in his mind, Han Yu grinned. Coupled with the maniacal smirk of his in-game character—a refined scoundrel—the scene carried an undeniable air of a supervillain in action. Even Wanda, who had initially been a bit annoyed, began to relax. The four of them laughed as they sped through the steel jungle of the city, leaving behind a visible "flood" of pursuers in their wake.

Just as Han Yu spoke, the car he was driving suddenly accelerated to an even higher gear. The vehicles chasing them were stunned.

"He can still go faster? What kind of car is that?!"

"I think I've seen it before. It's ranked first on the official list of 'Best Cars for Heist Missions.' Looks like it's the armored version of the Kuruma…"

"No way! That car costs over 500,000 AltCoins! Who on earth is this guy? Is he made of pure dedication or just loaded with cash? That's over $5,000 in real-world money!"

"No wonder we've been shooting at their car this whole time, and it hasn't even flinched. Turns out it's a bulletproof Kuruma. What's the point of chasing them now?"

"I refuse to believe we can't catch them!"

Some players, unwilling to give up, slammed down on their accelerators in an attempt to close the gap. But they soon realized that their opponent not only had a superior car but also insane driving skills.

Most NPC vehicles in Los Santos, even the better ones, weren't modified. Driving them felt slippery, and many players would find themselves spinning out after failing to brake properly around corners.

But the car they were chasing maneuvered each turn perfectly, sometimes even drifting flawlessly. Had someone already mastered advanced driving techniques in just three days since the game's launch?

When Han Yu got serious, the distance between them and their pursuers gradually widened. The game had only been online for three days, and more than half the players hadn't even started missions yet. Most were still marveling at the game's ridiculously detailed world. Even those who had begun exploring missions couldn't possibly match Han Yu's expertise.

It wasn't until they were out of the police's detection range and the mission was complete that the group snapped back to reality.

As the game mission results were tallied, Han Yu's system task was also marked complete, awarding him an additional 50 upgrade points.

"Platinum for everyone?!"

Ultron stared in disbelief at the results screen, which displayed platinum rewards across the board. The best result he'd ever achieved before was a single gold medal and two silvers. He'd only seen platinum medals in design previews.

Ultron turned to glance at Han Yu, whose smirk lingered on his face, and sighed internally.

"What's the deal with this boss of mine? Not only is he unbelievably strong in real life, but his gaming skills are out of this world."

But the truth was something Ultron could never uncover. No matter how much he speculated, he would never guess that their world had originally been nothing more than a movie.

"Woohoo, we're rich!"

Looking at the 100,000+ AltCoins added to his account, Quicksilver couldn't help but laugh out loud. This single haul was enough for him to buy the house he wanted and snag some decent weapons—a proper windfall.

"I can buy more clothes now!"

Wanda was so thrilled that she gave Han Yu a kiss on the cheek. For some reason, shopping in the game brought her even more joy than shopping in real life.

As he stared at this massive "fortune," Ultron was momentarily dazed. Over the past few days, the highest total mission earnings he'd managed with Quicksilver and Wanda had been around 200,000 AltCoins. Divided up, each person got barely 70,000.

But now? This one mission alone had netted them a staggering amount.

Now that Han Yu was leading them, each member had over 100,000 AltCoins. Calling it a fortune was no exaggeration.

"I can finally win while lying down," Ultron sighed deeply, basking in the satisfaction of having someone strong to rely on.

"Don't act like an old man," Han Yu laughed. "Get ready. This time, we're going straight for an A-level mission. Stick with me, and I'll lead you to big money today!"

"Got it!"

The trio answered in unison, even the usually stubborn Quicksilver nodding in agreement. This game wasn't designed to be easy for solo players, but having two pros in a team could make a world of difference. All the other teammates had to do was cooperate.

Quicksilver had no intention of acting out now. Han Yu had already helped them earn a fortune. If he screwed up at this point, Ultron and Wanda would probably skin him alive.

"Pietro, go say hello to those guys," Han Yu said with a sly grin.

Seeing his expression, Quicksilver immediately understood his intentions and became excited. He'd just resigned himself to quietly grinding missions, but Han Yu suggesting they provoke other players? How could he not get pumped?

Between missions, the four of them made it a habit to taunt other players. It became a common sight to see a long convoy of cars chasing after their pink-armored Kuruma. Soon enough, everyone started recognizing their car.

For an extra touch of flair, Ultron decided to repaint the Kuruma in bright pink, making it the flashiest car in any crowd. Among dozens of vehicles, their pink Kuruma stood out—especially since it was driven by a gentlemanly yet grotesque-looking clown. How could anyone not remember it?

"Boss, our total bounty has reached 250,000 AltCoins," Ultron said, checking the newly updated bounty leaderboard. Their team ranked first, with Han Yu alone accounting for 150,000—a significant portion.

"Not like they can catch me anyway. They're just donating money," Han Yu chuckled.

To make Los Santos a "freer and wilder" city, Han Yu had adjusted the bounty system. The original 48-minute real-world timer for bounties was extended to two hours.

During the bounty period, the targeted players appeared as bright red dots on the map, visible to everyone. Anyone who managed to catch them within the time limit would earn the reward. Logging off didn't reduce the timer; it merely paused it until the player returned.

On the flip side, if a bounty target survived the two hours, they would receive the full bounty themselves.

For Han Yu, this was child's play. These players thought that throwing more money and manpower into the chase would guarantee success.

But how could that be? In his previous life, Han Yu was a seasoned veteran of this game. He knew the city and surrounding areas like the back of his hand. Shaking off pursuers was almost effortless.

"Boss, why don't you let me kill you so I can collect the bounty? No point in letting outsiders benefit," Quicksilver said, his voice betraying his temptation as he stared at Han Yu's massive bounty.

"Why don't you try?"

Han Yu narrowed his eyes at Quicksilver, his tone unreadable. Despite the smile on his face, it sent shivers down Quicksilver's spine.

"Just kidding," Quicksilver said awkwardly, forcing a laugh.

By now, Han Yu had become a celebrity in the game. The primary reason his bounty was so high wasn't just because people wanted to catch him; most players simply wanted to find him and invite him to join their teams.
