Lord of The Mysterious World

Chapter 4: The Fallen Angel

Jon and Victor were inspecting the injured Angel when suddenly, a thunderous roar shook the entire valley. The sound was so intense that Jon instinctively covered his ears, and even Victor looked uneasy.

Both of them quickly turned towards the source of the noise, and what they saw made their blood run cold.

A monstrous creature was advancing toward them through the icy valley. It resembled a rhino but was far more terrifying. Its thick, armor-like skin gleamed under the snowy light. Five massive horns jutted out from its head, looking like deadly weapons. Its body was as large as a mountain, and its six powerful legs left deep imprints in the snow.

"This thing... it's ten times bigger than an elephant!" Victor muttered in disbelief.

Jon tightened his grip on his sword. Victor also drew the blade gifted by Dipendra, its sharp edge gleaming in the icy glow.

Victor spoke in a tense voice, "If this beast reaches our region, it will destroy castles and large buildings within minutes."

Without hesitation, Jon replied, "We can't escape from it. We have no choice but to fight it head-on!"

The massive rhino-like beast let out another earth-shaking roar and charged forward. As it ran, the impact of its heavy steps caused the entire valley to tremble. Cracks began to form in the snow, as if an earthquake was unfolding beneath them.

Amidst the chaos, the Angel's eyes fluttered open. Her vision was blurry, but what she saw was astonishing—two humans, standing fearlessly, swords drawn, ready to face the monstrous creature!

She struggled to rise due to her injuries, but her gaze remained fixed on Jon and Victor.

Jon and Victor launched their attack, using their incredible speed to strike at the monstrous rhino-like beast. Jon leaped high as the creature swung its massive horns at him. With lightning reflexes, he planted his foot on one of its horns and executed a backflip, landing swiftly on the beast's back. Without wasting a second, he plunged his sword down with full force.

Clang!

The impact was jarring. Jon's sword barely left a scratch on the beast's rock-hard hide. It was as if he had struck solid stone.

On the other side, Victor faced the same problem. His attacks, despite their power, had no effect on the creature's thick armor-like skin.

The monster roared in frustration. While it was far stronger than them, they had the advantage in speed.

Victor shouted, "Jon! If we keep fighting like this, we'll tire out before we can even wound this thing!"

Jon responded quickly, "Then we have no choice but to try a different approach. Get on its back with me! Maybe attacking the same spot will do some damage!"

Victor nodded and leaped, flipping through the air to land on the beast's back alongside Jon. The two warriors then unleashed a furious barrage of strikes, hammering at the same spot over and over.

The beast howled in pain and started thrashing wildly. It jumped and bucked, trying to shake them off. The force of its movements sent cracks through the thick snow beneath them. Suddenly, one of its massive legs lost traction on the icy surface.

THUD!

The colossal beast lost its balance and crashed onto the snow-covered slope with a deafening impact. The sheer force of its fall caused the thick layer of ice beneath them to fracture and collapse.

Jon and Victor reacted instantly. As the ice shattered, both warriors leaped off the creature's back just in time.

Jon hit the snowy ground hard and immediately started sliding down the steep, icy slope. He clawed at the snow, trying to slow himself down, but the slick surface offered no grip.

Victor, seeing what was happening, acted fast. As he slid past the unconscious Angel, he grabbed her hand, pulling her along with him.

The entire section of the mountain was now crumbling, sending Jon, Victor, the Angel, and massive chunks of ice tumbling toward a deep, shadowy ravine below.

They were falling straight into the abyss.

Falling into the Abyss and the Unknown Identity

As they slid down rapidly, Jon, Victor, and the angel fell into a deep gorge. Fortunately, the thick layer of snow cushioned their fall, saving them from serious injuries. However, the giant rhino that had fallen with them remained motionless upon impact, as if lifeless.

Jon pushed himself out of the snow and immediately started searching for Victor. In the distance, he saw a faint silhouette.

The angel's white wings had now folded back into her back. As she steadied herself, she realized that she was in someone's arms—not Jon's, but Victor's.

The angel felt slightly uncomfortable but remained silent when she remembered that Victor had risked his life to save her. Her gaze was filled with unspoken emotions as she quietly observed Victor.

Victor, too, seemed lost in another world. His eyes were fixed on the angel's beautiful face. His breathing slowed, as if time had momentarily stopped.

Just then, a voice echoed from a distance—

"Victor! Where are you?"

But Victor seemed oblivious to it.

The angel softly broke his trance, "Someone is calling you."

Victor, snapping back to reality, "H-huh? Haha!"

Hurriedly, he set the angel down. At that moment, Jon arrived.

Smirking, Jon teased, "If you need more time, I can go ahead and find the way."

Victor immediately tried to look serious, "You're misunderstanding!"

Jon chuckled, "Then what's the truth? Go on, explain yourself!"

Victor remained silent, slightly embarrassed.

Interrupting them, the angel finally asked, "Who are you two?"

Jon quickly replied, "That's exactly my question! Who are you? And how did you end up fighting that monstrous beast?"

A faint glimmer appeared in the angel's eyes. There was something mysterious in her expression, hinting at a hidden truth.

(What will happen next? Who is the angel? Where did that giant beast come from?)
