Chapter 537: How Many Innate Talents?!

The students with the greatest attack power launched their Spells simultaneously, shattering the Sun Stone Golem's forcefield from the sheer quantity of Magic.

By themselves, the students could hardly hope to damage an Initial Deity Realm Magical Beast, but together it was simple. Or at least, it was supposed to be.

The students' accuracy wasn't as high as William's, so the majority of attacks didn't target the left shoulder of the Sun Stone Golem as planned. Instead, they pelted the Boss' upper body in waves, the fastest Spells landing first.

In this manner, the Boss was able to suppress the damage, only showing several chips and discolorations. One Lightning Ball hit the marble joint on its shoulder, but only a small crack as thin as hair appeared at the targeted location.

Mikaela's voice relayed several orders in quick succession, "Offense, move backwards! Defense, raise a dome to cover the Boss! Support, slow it down!"

Each group did their part in the battle, using their superior numbers as an advantage to overwhelm the Boss. William nodded in satisfaction as the group was hardly recognizable compared to how they moved and acted just a few days ago.

The Sun Stone Golem broke through the dome with a single sweep of its fist, but it was slowed by almost thirty percent from the combined efforts of several crippling Spells. Less than a second later, another wave of attacks struck the Boss, this time over half of them landing on the shoulder joint.

The Sun Stone Golem dropped to the ground while its injuries were healed and the shoulder joint filled with the milky liquid. It glistened in the students' eyes, none of whom had ever seen the special liquid. All they knew was that it was filled with an unbelievable amount of vitality, each drop feeling like they were staring at an Ascension Realm Life Mage.

The students didn't have time to marvel at the rare treasured item for much longer, though, since the Boss was already sprinting forward towards the defense group. Its frame was massive, but so were its legs, allowing it to cover a large distance even without being extraordinarily fast.

Odessa, who was part of the defense group, stepped forward and raised a hundred-meter-thick Ice Wall that was larger and more durable than the rest of the defense team combined. It wrapped around the Sun Stone Golem's thick fist and traveled up its arm, locking the Boss in place.

William, who had been preparing a tungsten wall in secret, immediately canceled his Spell and looked at Odessa's in awe. This wasn't an ordinary Ice Wall Spell, since it wouldn't have spread to the Boss so quickly, nor had Odessa cast two Spells in quick succession.

He tried to compare it to his strength in the Mortal Realms, but William realized that it couldn't be compared. While he could make an Ice Wall the same size and thickness, there were finer details that raised the defense of the Ice Wall even further than the average student would notice.

Is her Ice Magic stronger than mine? Mine is X-Rank, though! William couldn't believe what he was seeing, but the System responded without requiring him to give it any Ascension Points.

-It seems like an Innate Talent.

Another one? How many Innate Talents are in this school? In the Five Elements Sect, I'd be lucky to see two or three people with an Innate Talent in one day, compared to tens of thousands of normal Cultivators!

Here, though, they're like cabbages growing on the street!

-It IS a prestigious school, after all. The students with the greatest potential come here. The other schools are probably similar.

William sighed. He imagined challenging Odessa's Ice Magic in a duel, but he realized that he'd have to reveal at least two more Talents just to win. Just like Yuhe, he could now see why Odessa was placed near the top of the rankings during the entrance exam.

Mikaela caught herself staring at Odessa's Spell as well, realizing she'd made a mistake. In that window granted by Odessa, they could have at least fully destroyed one of the joints, but the Boss was already breaking free.

She issued the order regardless, channeling her own Lightning Mana to create a Lightning Spear that would home towards the Lightning Ball Spell that she'd cast earlier. Just before the Boss broke free, the Lightning Spear pierced through one end of the marble joint and exited the other, sending the Solar Nectar flying in all directions.

William, already practiced from having gathered the same loot thousands of times, reacted on instinct and almost opened a portal to drop the Solar Nectar into his Space Ring. At the last second, William swapped Elements and sped forward with a large jug made of Earth, barely managing to catch half of the liquid before it landed on the ground.

He sighed in relief, glad that he hadn't used another Element before the floor was cleared. If he had, even if the Boss died now, William would have to go back and clear it again. He still hadn't figured out how long the Bosses needed to respawn, but he didn't want to waste even a single day.

With Odessa's powerful Ice Walls trapping the Sun Stone Golem, the group was able to repeat the same steps with the second marble joint. Until the Boss entered the third stage, their simple plan was very effective and allowed the group to cross the gap in Cultivation.

Of course, this was only possible because the entire group was littered with geniuses that couldn't be compared to normal people. If any of these students went into the outside World and battled a normal Cultivator at the peak of the Ascension Realm, it would be hard to tell who'd win.

Against an Initial Deity Realm Cultivator in the Lower Stages, Yuhe and Odessa, possibly even Mikaela would still have the upper hand. William guessed that there were several others amongst the class that had greater strength than they were showing now, but he didn't blame them for hiding it.

William didn't need to join the group for the third stage either, since the group had grown accustomed to the Sun Stone Golem's movements and were able to maneuver more efficiently than before.

Even though its speed had greatly increased, Odessa's Ice Wall was still fast enough to keep up, and the range was so wide that the Sun Stone Golem couldn't avoid it without being punished by the offensive group.

It tried to switch targets to the support group, but they were positioned in the perfect location behind the defensive group, allowing them to rest easy while Odessa and the others raised several defenses to protect them.

After several minutes, the Sun Stone Golem's third marble joint was shattered and the battle turned into one of attrition. At this point, the normal students had just about reached their limit and the only useful combatants remaining were the Second-Years, Mikaela, and Odessa.

At this point, the offensive and defensive groups both became support for the aforementioned, while Yuhe stood back and waited. To lessen the pressure on the group of five, William stepped back into the Boss Room and assumed a mixed offensive-defensive role.

When the Sun Stone Golem used compressed balls of earth and targeted the others, William raised a Starmetal Wall that absorbed the entirety of the impact in one go. When it used attacks that Odessa could block, he swapped to his old Comet Pellet Spell and targeted the last remaining marble joint, firing one pellet off as if he was a trained sniper.

The shot struck its mark, shattering the last marble joint for the first time while another followed up immediately after and finished it off before the Boss had even finished repairing itself.

"Everyone, now!" William shouted as a powerful forcefield rose up around the Sun Stone Golem and all of its vitality was concentrated in a single point. It had finally entered its fifth phase.

William was especially nervous since he detected several presences approaching from the 14th floor. There were a dozen students in the Second- and Third-Years that had probably gone over new strategies, and they probably wouldn't be happy if they saw the one who sold them the information battling the Sun Stone Golem.

The students all gathered their Mana and fired off the strongest Spells they could muster. Lightning Spears, Massive Fireballs, Ice Spikes, and a weakened Comet Pellet Spell cast by Nihlo were all fired off at once, slamming against the forcefield and creating small cracks.

Yuhe jumped into the air and cast her Magic half a second later than the rest, gathering hundreds of thousands of Light Mana into a single point and turning it into a laser that possessed power that easily broke into the Initial Deity Realm.

The Light Laser sliced through the Sun Stone Golem's forcefield in an instant, followed by a sizzling sound as it melted the Boss' stone into a puddle. The Boss exploded into a shower of loot, just as a new group reached the top of the stairwell.
