In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 89: Chapter 89: The Sand Village Trio

Ryo smiled. "It's simple—you two will work for me for three years. After that, you can leave."

Zabuza and Haku's expressions darkened.

"Boss, isn't that a bit excessive?"

Hearing Zabuza's protest, Ryo scratched the back of his head. "Excessive? My bond with those trees goes back years. Having you work for just three years is more than fair, don't you think?"

Zabuza clenched his teeth. "Do you really think you can keep me here? If I want to leave, you can't stop me."

Ryo's expression turned amused. Did this guy not even bother to investigate before coming here?

He shook his head. "You can try."

At that, Zabuza exchanged glances with Haku, and they both darted in opposite directions.

Seeing that Ryo made no move to stop them, they felt a moment of relief.

But before they could get far, Dragonite and Gardevoir appeared in front of them, casually swiping their hands and sending both of them flying back to where they started.

Ryo crouched in front of them. "So? Still think you can escape?"

Zabuza's expression was one of shock.

He hadn't expected these Pokémon to be so absurdly strong. With just a casual flick, they had knocked him away effortlessly.

"Boss, isn't this going too far? It's just a few trees, and you're asking us to work for you for three years?"

Ryo nodded. "True, I do have a deep connection with those trees, but I guess three years is a bit much."

He then smirked. "How about this instead—you spread the word about Pokémon throughout the ninja world for me. That's an easier deal, right?"

This was actually quite convenient.

He had been wondering how to get the news of Pokémon outside Konoha, and now Zabuza had given him the perfect opportunity.

Although the upcoming Chūnin Exams would eventually spread the information, that was still at least a month or two away.

And there was no guarantee that information would get out.

Do you really think Hiruzen Sarutobi would allow information about Pokémon to leave Konoha so easily?

Of course not.

While it was inevitable that the secret would eventually leak, delaying that information gave Konoha a major advantage.

Hearing Ryo's offer, Zabuza's face twisted.

Seriously? Couldn't you have just said that from the start? Did we really have to get smacked around first?

"So? Still not agreeing? Then fine, you two can just stay here."

Seeing their silence, Ryo stood up and waved his hand dismissively as if he was ready to leave.

Zabuza quickly reacted and sighed. "Fine, I agree."

Ryo's smile returned as he turned back. "See? That wasn't so hard. I was starting to think you wanted to stay here permanently."

Zabuza clenched his fists in frustration. As if we even had a choice! You had this planned all along!

"Alright, get up already."

Ignoring Zabuza's irritation, Ryo casually helped them to their feet.

"Hmph—"

Zabuza dusted himself off. "Boss, you sure are ambitious. You actually want the entire ninja world to know about Pokémon."

Ryo shook his head. "Ambitious? No, I just want ninjas to be a little safer."

Zabuza snorted. "Yeah, right."

He didn't believe that nonsense for a second.

"Boss, if there's nothing else, we'll take our leave. We'll spread the message as promised."

Ryo nodded. "Of course. You're free to go. Besides, if you don't deliver the message, you won't be able to escape anyway."

Zabuza narrowed his eyes but said nothing. He turned and started walking away.

"Oh, by the way, be careful—leaving Konoha right now won't be easy."

Zabuza understood the implication. "Thanks for the warning, boss. We'll be careful."

As they disappeared into the distance, Ryo turned his gaze toward Konoha's bustling streets.

"The Chūnin Exams, huh? A perfect chance to earn some treasure boxes."

Meanwhile, on another street, Naruto and his team were casually walking around.

After finishing their meal at the Pokémon Home, they had decided to take a break from training.

They had been working hard the past few days and needed some rest.

Besides, learning about Pokémon wasn't something that could be mastered in just a day or two.

"Let me go! Let me go right now!"

Suddenly, Naruto heard a familiar voice and his expression changed.

Without hesitation, he sprinted toward the commotion, with Sakura and Sasuke following closely behind.

A street away, they saw Konohamaru being lifted off the ground by a strange boy with face paint, who was gripping him by the collar.

"Hey, brat. You stepped on me. What do you think you should do now?"

Kankurō sneered as he held Konohamaru up, his eyes filled with menace.

Konohamaru struggled, his face contorted with fear. "Let me go! Let me go!"

"Hmph—"

Kankurō scoffed and pulled out a kunai. "Kid, you better quiet down, or I'll kill you."

Hearing that, Konohamaru trembled, his nose starting to run from fear.

His two friends, Moegi and Udon, were so terrified they collapsed onto the ground.

Kankurō looked down at the boy with mild disgust. "Annoying brat. Maybe I should just kill you."

He raised his kunai, ready to strike.

"Kankurō!"

"Slakoth!"

Two voices rang out simultaneously.

The first came from behind Kankurō—Temari's worried voice.

She knew their mission required discretion, and they couldn't afford to attract Konoha's attention.

The second voice came from Konohamaru himself.

At some point, a Poké Ball had appeared in his hand, and he threw it onto the ground.

"Huh?"

Kankurō's eyes narrowed as he watched the Poké Ball pop open, revealing a sluggish-looking Slakoth.

Even Temari, who had been concerned about the situation, was now puzzled.

"Brat, what the hell is this? How did that thing come out of such a tiny ball?"

Kankurō stared at the Pokémon in confusion.

Slakoth, meanwhile, just lay on the ground, unmoving.

Seeing Kankurō's confusion, Konohamaru regained some confidence. His fear disappeared, and he crossed his arms arrogantly.

"Hmph! That's a Pokémon! You better put me down, or I'll make it teach you a lesson!"
