Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Feelings Matter? Just Paying Compensation?
"Rhyhorn—what a strong and imposing name!"
Zabuza exclaimed as he scanned the Pokémon with his Pokédex, his eyes lighting up in excitement.
Unlike the flashy dragon-types he had encountered earlier, this one was solid and straightforward—no unnecessary gimmicks.
He stepped forward and blocked Rhyhorn's path.
"Raaahh!"
Rhyhorn snorted and stared at Zabuza with slight confusion, wondering why this human seemed so excited.
Hearing the sound, Zabuza felt a bit nervous. "Uh... hey, Rhyhorn, nice to meet you. Can I capture you?"
Rhyhorn rolled its eyes and shook its head. "Raaahh!"
Its expression turned odd—who just randomly asks to capture someone the moment they meet?
Seeing this, Zabuza thought to himself, This confirms it—this Pokémon must be strong. If it were weak, it wouldn't refuse, since even regular people can capture Pokémon.
With this in mind, Zabuza continued, "Rhyhorn, come with me. I can make you stronger—trust me!"
Rhyhorn stared at Zabuza seriously before shaking its head again.
"You think I'm weak? That I can't train you properly?"
Zabuza frowned, then pulled out a scroll and retrieved his massive sword. "Then let me show you!"
With that, he swung the sword and hurled it at a nearby forest.
The massive blade spun through the air, slicing through several large trees, which crashed to the ground with a deafening noise.
Not stopping there, Zabuza clasped his hands together and rapidly formed a series of hand seals.
"Water Style—Water Dragon Bullet Technique!"
A massive water dragon surged forth under his control, circling in the air before dissolving into a shower of rain.
After showcasing his power, Zabuza turned to Rhyhorn. "What do you think? Want to come with me now? I can make you stronger than most Pokémon out there!"
Rhyhorn was dumbfounded.
Even Haku was stunned.
Zabuza had suddenly acted like a crazed beast in mating season, aggressively displaying his "strength" to impress his target.
However, Rhyhorn quickly snapped out of its daze and nodded in agreement.
After all, while Zabuza's methods were a bit... eccentric, his power was undeniable.
With someone this strong as its trainer, Rhyhorn knew it would benefit greatly.
Seeing Rhyhorn nod, Zabuza nearly jumped for joy, but he held back and instead smiled while pulling out a Poké Ball. "Alright, Rhyhorn, come inside!"
"Raaahh!"
Rhyhorn nodded and pressed itself against the Poké Ball, allowing itself to be captured.
"Congratulations, Lord Zabuza."
Haku approached after Rhyhorn was successfully caught.
Zabuza nodded. "Let's go. We'll catch one for you, and then we'll leave."
"Plap, plap, plap!"
Suddenly, a strange sound came from the side as something rolled toward them.
Sensing movement, both Zabuza and Haku stopped and turned to look.
"Is that... another Pokémon?"
Zabuza muttered as he saw a round creature rolling in their direction.
He frowned. How can a Pokémon look so... foolish?
Could something like this really be a powerful fighter?
"Plap!"
The Pokémon stopped in front of them, its round eyes filled with curiosity.
"Beep—Spheal, the Clap Pokémon..."
Hearing the Pokédex description, Zabuza immediately turned to leave. "Haku, let's go. We need to keep looking for a real Pokémon."
This goofy-looking Pokémon didn't interest him in the slightest.
He even wondered if it was weaker than the Caterpie he had encountered earlier.
"Lord Zabuza, I'll take this one."
Haku's voice suddenly interrupted.
Zabuza furrowed his brows. "Are you sure?"
Haku nodded. "Yes, I'm sure."
To him, he was merely a tool for Zabuza. Now that Zabuza had found his Pokémon, it didn't matter what Haku captured.
He didn't want to waste more of Zabuza's time.
Zabuza nodded. "Alright, go ahead."
Haku stepped forward, crouched down, and gently patted Spheal on the head. "Spheal, will you come with me?"
"Plap-ha!"
Spheal clapped its flippers, tilted its head, then nodded in agreement.
Haku smiled, patted Spheal's head again, and tapped it with a Poké Ball.
"Alright, let's go."
Haku stood up, and the two of them headed down the mountain.
With their Pokémon secured, they moved much faster.
Before long, they arrived at the Pokémon battle arena behind the cabin.
However, they found Ryo standing there alongside Dragonite and Gardevoir, watching them with an unreadable expression.
Seeing this, Zabuza grinned. "Boss, good afternoon."
Ryo smiled but remained silent, his eyes cold.
Seeing this, Zabuza suddenly felt uneasy. "Boss, we've caught our Pokémon, so we'll be leaving now."
That stare was unsettling—it was best to leave as soon as possible.
But just as they were about to leave, Dragonite appeared in front of them, blocking their way.
Then, Ryo's voice rang out. "You're not leaving yet."
Zabuza frowned. "Boss, what do you mean?"
"What do I mean?"
Ryo's gaze sharpened. "Who told you to cause destruction in the back mountain? And you even used ninjutsu?"
He knew exactly what had happened earlier.
After all, Dragonite and Gardevoir constantly monitored the area.
With how much noise Zabuza had made, there was no way they wouldn't notice.
"Uh—"
Zabuza froze for a moment.
He had tried to keep things under control, but apparently, he had still been caught.
"But Boss, I didn't cause too much damage. Can't we just compensate you?"
Ryo shook his head. "Compensation won't cut it. The trees in the back mountain have been growing under my watch for years. No amount of money can replace my bond with them."
Zabuza's mouth twitched.
Seriously? This guy has an emotional connection with trees?
"Boss, just tell me what you want."
He sighed, realizing that Ryo was clearly looking for trouble, and the trees were just an excuse.
