Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Too Many Pokémon, Too Many Problems
"Bagon and Deino?"
As the system's voice came to a stop, Ryo muttered to himself.
"Isn't the probability a bit too low?"
Two hundred draws, yet he had only pulled two pseudo-legendary Pokémon.
"Host, your luck is already quite good. The probability of drawing high-quality Pokémon from the adoption lottery is naturally very low."
Ryo was momentarily speechless.
"Getting just two pseudo-legendaries is considered lucky?"
For a moment, he didn't even know what to say.
If this was considered good luck, did that mean if he had worse luck, he might not have gotten a single one?
Shaking his head, Ryo didn't dwell on it. Instead, he focused on reviewing the list of Pokémon he had just drawn.
With two hundred names being announced at once, it was impossible for him to remember them all.
After scanning through the list, he nodded slightly.
"If I don't focus solely on pseudo-legendaries, this pull wasn't bad at all."
Among the results, he spotted several starter Pokémon, which were always in high demand.
Additionally, there were rare Pokémon like Larvesta and Axew, which, while not pseudo-legendaries, were still extremely valuable.
However, these rare Pokémon were very few in number—he had only drawn one of each.
Most of the haul consisted of common Pokémon with lower base stats.
Pokémon like Caterpie and Weedle appeared in multiples, even more than a dozen times each.
At that moment, the system spoke again:
"Host, please select a suitable location to release the Pokémon."
Hearing this, Ryo didn't waste time. He got up and started heading toward the back mountain.
"Ryo, are you going out?"
Gardevoir, who had been observing him, asked curiously.
Ryo nodded. "Yeah, come along, Gardevoir."
With that, he stepped outside.
Outside, Cynthia was eating ice cream while watching a Pokémon egg.
Seeing her, Ryo grabbed her arm and dragged her along toward the back mountain.
After all, he was about to release two hundred Pokémon. It would be better to have extra hands.
—
On the way up the mountain…
"Ryo, you're just summoning Pokémon. Why are you dragging me along?"
Cynthia, still licking her ice cream, asked with mild irritation.
She didn't see the point.
Summoning Pokémon usually meant releasing just a few at a time, maybe a dozen at most.
Was it really necessary to call her and Gardevoir for this?
Hearing her complaint, Ryo glared at her.
"Just follow along. Otherwise, I won't give you any more ice cream."
Cynthia instantly fell silent and obediently followed along.
No ice cream?
That would be torture.
She could go without a meal, but not without ice cream.
Ryo shook his head.
Why does Cynthia act like a noble princess yet have the personality of a little kid?
Without her complaints slowing them down, their pace increased significantly.
Soon, they reached the midpoint of the mountain.
Ryo came to a stop. "Alright, this spot will do."
Cynthia and Gardevoir looked at him expectantly, waiting for him to begin.
Ryo mentally connected with the system.
"System, release the Pokémon here."
When summoning more than ten Pokémon, the system would not release them automatically. It would first ask for confirmation.
If not for this safety measure, Ryo would never have dared to roll the lottery inside his tiny room.
Two hundred Pokémon?
They'd cram his room so tight he wouldn't even be able to move!
As soon as Ryo gave the command, Pokémon began materializing around them.
At first, they looked a bit confused, but the moment they saw Ryo, they happily gathered around him.
Cynthia and Gardevoir remained calm—they had seen this before.
However, as time passed, their expressions began to change.
Their eyes widened in shock as more and more Pokémon continued appearing.
By the time the number exceeded one hundred, their faces were filled with disbelief.
And yet, the summoning wasn't stopping.
This was beyond anything they had seen before.
The most Ryo had ever summoned at once was around twenty Pokémon.
"Why are you both looking at me like that? Didn't I already say that tomorrow a lot of people would be coming?"
Ryo noticed their shocked expressions and decided to clarify.
Cynthia hesitated for a moment. "But… this is a LOT of Pokémon. We're almost at 150 already!"
Ryo rolled his eyes. "This is nothing. I'm more worried that it's not enough."
What was Cynthia so surprised about?
Konoha had thousands of shinobi, maybe even tens of thousands.
This was just two hundred Pokémon—barely a drop in the bucket.
And it wasn't just for the shinobi. There were civilians who would want Pokémon too.
This was only the first wave. There would be many more summons like this in the future.
Cynthia didn't know what to say.
So she stayed quiet and simply watched.
Gardevoir, as usual, said nothing and just observed silently.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the summoning process ended.
Now, Ryo found himself surrounded by 200 Pokémon, all eagerly looking at him.
Suddenly, he felt a headache coming on.
Pokémon were adorable, and their calls were usually pleasant.
But that was when there were just a few of them.
Now, 200 Pokémon were chattering at the same time.
Even the cutest voices became overwhelming noise when there were this many.
"Alright, alright! Everyone, quiet down and listen to me!"
Ryo rubbed his temples and raised his voice.
Instantly, all the Pokémon fell silent and turned their curious eyes toward him.
Ryo let out a deep sigh of relief as he began explaining the rules to the newly arrived Pokémon.
Cynthia and Gardevoir, standing nearby, also exhaled in relief.
That noisy commotion from earlier had been too much for them to handle.
—
"Alright, that's all. This entire mountain area is my territory, so find a place you like and settle in. Also, when it's time to eat, head in this direction. There's a log cabin just outside Konoha where we'll gather."
As Ryo finished speaking, the surrounding Pokémon nodded in agreement, chirping and responding in their own ways.
Seeing this, Ryo didn't say anything further and waved his hand.
"Alright, go ahead and do as you please. If you need help, just head to the cabin and find us."
The Pokémon nodded once more before dispersing, each searching for their own suitable home in the area.
Watching them leave, Ryo let out another sigh of relief.
Summoning so many Pokémon at once really was a lot of pressure.
"Ryo, did you really call me out here just to watch?"
Cynthia's voice carried a slightly resentful tone as she watched the Pokémon disappear into the forest.
She could have spent this time eating ice cream and studying her Pokémon egg instead.
Ryo turned his head and rolled his eyes at her.
"Who said I brought you here just to watch? You and Gardevoir will help me keep an eye on them and make sure they don't cause trouble."
With so many Pokémon in one place, conflicts were bound to happen—just like with humans, if not worse.
If he didn't keep an eye on them, they might end up fighting each other.
Cynthia's mouth twitched slightly, her expression even more bitter now.
But in the end, she had no choice.
Without saying another word, she and Gardevoir left to monitor the Pokémon, ensuring that things remained under control.
