In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Danzo's Fear

Ryo's expression remained ice-cold, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

This issue should have already been settled. Hiruzen could have gradually convinced the other ninjas, leading to a resolution without unnecessary conflict.

Everything could have ended peacefully.

But Danzo, that meddlesome troublemaker, had to go and stir things up again.

Now, the entire discussion had to be restarted from scratch.

After all, Hiruzen couldn't just ignore the emotions of the gathered ninjas.

If he did, his credibility as Hokage would be severely damaged, and the majority of ninjas in the village would begin to question his leadership.

Danzo, wearing a sly smile, asked, "Ryo, did I say something incorrect?"

He showed no fear in the face of Ryo's threatening tone.

Ryo glanced at Danzo, then at the murmuring ninjas surrounding them. His expression gradually turned unreadable.

"Dragonite, use Dragon Rush."

"Roar!"

A thunderous roar shook the air as Dragonite shot into the sky at an astonishing speed.

The sheer velocity left the crowd momentarily speechless, their whispers ceasing as all eyes turned toward the ascending Dragonite.

Even Hiruzen and Kurenai watched with concern.

Danzo, despite his usual arrogance, felt his heartbeat quicken. His instincts screamed at him to flee.

"Roar!"

Another mighty roar echoed from the sky.

Then, in an instant, Dragonite's body became enveloped in a shimmering aura of energy as it dove straight toward the ground.

This time, its descent was even faster than its ascent, resembling a bolt of lightning tearing through the sky.

BOOM!

The impact was deafening.

The entire village of Konoha turned their heads in the direction of the explosion, their expressions filled with fear and disbelief.

Rumble—

The ground trembled violently, the vibrations growing stronger by the second.

Cracks spread across the earth, causing trees and soil to shift and collapse outward in all directions.

"No! Everyone, retreat immediately!"

Hiruzen's urgent shout broke the silence.

The gathered ninjas reacted instantly, leaping away from the expanding destruction.

They continued retreating for dozens of meters before the shaking finally stopped.

But even as the tremors subsided, their fear only deepened.

A hundred-meter-wide crater now marred the landscape.

At its center stood Dragonite, its blood-red eyes brimming with raw, oppressive power.

The sheer intensity of the pressure it emitted made every ninja in the area shudder involuntarily.

Even Hiruzen felt the overwhelming presence, his body instinctively tensing.

If he had taken that attack head-on, he would have barely survived—and even then, only as a cripple.

Cold sweat dripped down his back.

That single attack had far surpassed the capabilities of a typical Kage-level fighter.

It wasn't quite at the level of the legendary Six Paths, but it was dangerously close.

Far stronger than Hiruzen had initially estimated.

Before today, he might have believed he had a 30% chance of defeating Ryo.

Now? That chance had dropped to barely 10%—if that.

BAM!

Suddenly, a figure was sent flying from within the crowd, crashing hard into the ground.

A deep dent formed where Danzo landed, his face now twisted with pain.

"Danzo," Ryo's cold voice echoed through the silent battlefield, "if you keep pulling your little schemes, next time it won't just be a slap."

As everyone else remained frozen in fear, Ryo and Gardevoir descended slowly from above.

Though his expression was calm, his eyes gleamed with a dangerous light as he stared down at Danzo.

A part of him truly wanted to end this nuisance once and for all.

If that meant turning against Konoha, so be it.

Lying sprawled on the ground, Danzo's face paled visibly at Ryo's words.

His hands clenched into fists.

He couldn't believe it.

He—Danzo Shimura—had just been humiliated in front of so many people.

But the next moment, his grip loosened.

Because he had understood something.

Dragonite's attack just now had shown him the difference in power.

No matter what secret weapons or trump cards he had hidden away, they wouldn't be enough.

For the first time in years, Danzo felt genuine fear.

That one attack had crushed his arrogance completely.

He had no choice but to endure.

Even as humiliation burned inside him, even as his pride screamed at him to retaliate…

His survival instincts overpowered everything else.

"Humph!"

Ryo sneered at Danzo's silent defeat, then turned to the rest of the ninjas.

"Let me be clear," he said, his voice carrying across the stunned crowd.

"I am not asking for your permission to spread Pokémon. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant."

"You can try to stop me—but be ready to face the consequences."

Danzo lowered his head.

There was nothing else he could say.

If he spoke now, he might not live to regret it.

Hiruzen, Asuma, and the others familiar with Pokémon exhaled in relief.

They had feared Danzo would try to escalate the situation further.

But now, even the infamous schemer had been silenced.

Those unfamiliar with Pokémon, however, exchanged confused glances.

They didn't quite understand what had just happened.

Ryo noticed their puzzled expressions but had no interest in explaining.

His work here was done.

He turned to Hiruzen.

"Hiruzen, I'll leave the rest to you. I'm heading back."

Everything that needed to be said had been said.

Whatever happened next was Konoha's problem, not his.

With a final, ice-cold glance at Danzo, Ryo snorted dismissively and leaped onto Dragonite's back.

As Gardevoir gracefully followed, they soared into the sky, disappearing from sight.

Ryo had made up his mind.

Danzo's schemes would not be forgotten. One slap wasn't nearly enough, nor would this matter be settled so easily.

He glanced at Gardevoir and gave a slight nod.

In the next instant, a surge of psychic energy erupted as Gardevoir activated Teleport, instantly whisking Ryo and Dragonite away.

The surrounding ninjas were left in stunned silence.

Even Hiruzen, who had some understanding of Pokémon, couldn't hide his surprise.

Ryo and his two Pokémon had vanished without a trace.

If it had just been Dragonite's speed, Hiruzen could have at least sensed their movement.

But this time, they were gone in an instant—completely undetectable.

Asuma, noticing Hiruzen's bewildered expression, decided to explain, "That must be Teleport, an ability used by Psychic-type Pokémon. It's similar to the Flying Thunder God Technique, but it doesn't require kunai as a marker. Instead, it relies on the user's energy perception. As long as they can sense a location, they can teleport there. And, compared to the Flying Thunder God, it's even faster."

Over the past weeks, training with Pokémon had taught Asuma a lot.

He had even developed a friendship with Cynthia, and Ino often brought ice cream over when they visited. Through these interactions, they had learned much about Pokémon, though some things had initially been hard to believe.

When he first heard about Teleport, Asuma had been skeptical.

Now, seeing it firsthand, he had no choice but to accept reality.

The surrounding ninjas, upon hearing this explanation, were once again left in shock.

Even Hiruzen and Danzo couldn't suppress their astonishment.

Every ninja in Konoha knew the significance of the Flying Thunder God Technique.

The Fourth Hokage had risen to legendary status based on that one technique alone.

And yet—

Here was a space-time ability even more advanced than the Flying Thunder God.

Pokémon… just how terrifying were they?
