In Naruto, the System Asks Me to Entrust Pokémon

Chapter 75: Chapter 75: The Troublemaker

"Boss Ryo, do we really have to do this?"

Faced with Ryo's firm stance, Hiruzen Sarutobi did not show anger. Instead, he sighed and asked again.

Ryo nodded heavily. "Yes, Third Hokage. I've already made myself clear. You should understand."

"Sigh..."

Hiruzen let out a deep sigh, falling into contemplation without saying anything further.

At this moment, Might Guy spoke up. "Hokage-sama, isn't this a good thing? Based on what the boss said, the use of ninjas won't decrease. In fact, Konoha's overall strength will increase."

Even he found this whole situation a little baffling. Wasn't this a great deal?

Even Asuma and Kurenai nodded in agreement. From their perspective, Ryo's proposal seemed beneficial.

Sure, some ninjas might not be happy about it.

But that was life—there's always give and take. And what they would gain far outweighed what they might lose.

For Konoha, the advantages clearly outweighed the risks. No matter how they looked at it, this was a beneficial move.

Hiruzen observed the expressions of those around him and sighed inwardly once more. Of course, he understood all of this.

But he had his concerns. If ordinary people gained Pokémon and obtained power, then—

Inevitably, some would rise with ambition.

And that was dangerous for Konoha. More importantly, it could threaten his position as Hokage.

That was why he hesitated.

People obeyed because they lacked power.

But once they had power? That was an entirely different matter.

"Rizu, we cannot agree to this. You should understand—if this truly happens, even we will be at risk."

A deep voice interrupted Hiruzen's thoughts, and everyone turned toward the source—Danzo Shimura.

As soon as he spoke, all eyes, including Hiruzen's, focused on him.

The surrounding ninjas instinctively parted, making way for Danzo, who approached with several members of Root at his back.

His gaze swept over his injured subordinates, who had lost their arms. His brows furrowed slightly before he turned his attention to Ryo.

"Boss Ryo, injuring my Root ninjas—are you trying to make an enemy of Konoha?"

The surrounding ninjas, who had been silently watching, now shifted their gazes toward Ryo as well.

Ryo simply chuckled, his eyes filled with icy disdain. "Danzo, since when do you represent all of Konoha? The Third Hokage is still standing right here. Even if you dream of being Hokage, now's not your time."

Hiruzen's expression darkened, and he shot Danzo a sharp glare. "Danzo, I am not dead yet!"

Danzo's fury flared, his eyes burning with killing intent. He wanted nothing more than to strike Ryo down immediately.

"Hmph!"

Under Hiruzen's cold gaze, Danzo merely scoffed but didn't press further.

"Then perhaps you'd like to explain yourself?"

Ryo smirked mockingly. "Danzo, are you seriously pretending you don't know what's going on? Do you really need me to spell it out?"

"You—!"

Danzo's lips trembled with rage, his face turning red as he pointed a shaking finger at Ryo.

"What, you thought your little schemes went unnoticed?"

Ryo didn't even give Danzo the chance to speak further, cutting him off with disdain.

Hiruzen, who had been listening, furrowed his brows deeply. He turned his gaze to Danzo once again.

Ryo's words made everything clear—this was Danzo's attempt to test him.

Anger rose in Hiruzen's heart. His eyes grew colder.

"Hmph!"

Danzo noticed the shift in Hiruzen's expression and let out a cold snort but said nothing further. However, his killing intent intensified.

Ryo paid no mind to Danzo's hostility and instead turned back to Hiruzen. "Third Hokage, have you made your decision?"

Hiruzen frowned, hesitation written all over his face.

He truly didn't know what to decide.

He didn't want to agree, yet he also didn't want to turn Ryo into an enemy.

"Rizu, we cannot agree to this. You must think about the consequences. If ordinary people gain power, Konoha will fall into chaos."

Danzo, seeing Hiruzen's hesitation, grew anxious. He was actually afraid Hiruzen might go along with Ryo's proposal.

Ryo, however, only scoffed at Danzo's words. Chaos?

Wasn't he just afraid that too many people would have power, making them harder to control?

He wasn't concerned about Konoha at all—he was afraid that he would lose control over the village!

Ryo's gaze turned sharp as he stared at Danzo. "Danzo, I'm not here to negotiate. I'm telling you my decision. If Root objects, I won't stop you—but be ready for the consequences."

"Cough..."

Hiruzen cleared his throat. "Boss Ryo, is there no room for compromise?"

"No!"

Ryo's answer was immediate and unwavering.

He was getting irritated. They had dragged this out long enough—why were they still trying to act diplomatic?

At this point, wasn't it simpler to just fight it out?

"Sigh... Alright then."

Hiruzen let out a deep sigh before nodding. "Truthfully, ordinary people gaining Pokémon isn't necessarily a bad thing."

"Rizu!"

Danzo's eyes widened in disbelief. He had never expected Hiruzen to actually agree.

Hiruzen turned to glare at him. "Danzo, don't forget—I am the Hokage!"

Ryo's dissatisfaction with Danzo deepened.

Not only had Danzo schemed against him, but now he dared to stir up trouble in public?

Did Danzo truly think Ryo would tolerate this?

The nerve of this old fox...

But what could he do? Ryo was strong, and Danzo knew it.

If they really fought, Danzo had no certainty of victory.

Danzo clenched his teeth, his expression shifting as he seemed to realize something. He suddenly sighed, putting on a sorrowful expression.

"Hiruzen, if ordinary people gain the power to challenge ninjas, it would be a disaster for us!"

"Sigh... It seems fate has decided that the era of ninjas must end. If even civilians can rival our strength, what purpose do we, the shinobi, serve anymore?"

The moment Danzo spoke, Asuma and the others immediately sensed danger.

Their relaxed expressions stiffened.

Hiruzen's face darkened with fury. His tolerance for Danzo was wearing thin, and for the first time, a hint of killing intent flickered in his heart.

The surrounding ninjas, who had been silent observers until now, exchanged shocked glances.

"What? The downfall of shinobi?! Hokage-sama, you must not allow this!"

"That's right, Lord Hokage! You can't make such a decision!"

The murmuring turned into full-on protests.

Hiruzen clenched his forehead, feeling an incoming headache.

Originally, he had planned to slowly explain things to the ninja community, to help them understand.

But Danzo had ruined that by bringing everything to the surface all at once—forcing the situation into a direct confrontation.

He had successfully provoked the emotions of the ninjas.

And then—

A cold, chilling voice rang out through the air.

"Danzo, it seems you really have a death wish."
