Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Whose People Are They?
"Boss, this is it—the Pokémon my son captured."
Inside the Pokémon Home, Old Feng glanced at Feng Tian with a look of satisfaction, his face beaming with pride.
"Not bad, Old Feng. Your kid's got potential."
Looking at the Teddiursa Feng Tian had released, Ryo nodded with a smile.
Although Teddiursa wasn't an exceptionally strong Pokémon, it was still a lot better than Old Feng's Rattata.
"Hahaha—"
Old Feng laughed heartily, patting Feng Tian on the shoulder. "Of course! He's my son, after all."
Feng Tian scratched his head in embarrassment, his tall frame making him look a little awkward.
Ryo, on the other hand, shook his head with a helpless expression before his gaze turned serious.
"Old Feng, did you tell anyone about your Pokémon?"
The smile on Old Feng's face faded. He let out a sigh and nodded. "No, I didn't dare to."
"Hm?"
Ryo furrowed his brows. "You didn't dare to?"
Old Feng nodded again. "Yeah. At first, when I got my Pokémon, I thought about keeping it a secret and raising it on my own."
"But after spending two days with Rattata, I realized something—not only do we need Pokémon, but Pokémon also need us."
"That's when I decided to introduce Pokémon to others, so more of them could appear. But..."
Old Feng sighed again and shook his head slightly.
"But what?"
Ryo nearly cursed in frustration. Damn, this guy really learned the art of suspense from TV dramas.
"But just as I made up my mind, two masked shinobi approached me."
At this point, Old Feng stopped speaking.
Ryo, however, had already pieced things together. His brows knitted further.
Could it be Danzo?
But as soon as the thought surfaced, he dismissed it.
Considering Danzo's usual methods, he wouldn't have approached so peacefully.
Then was it Hiruzen Sarutobi?
He quickly shook his head again. That didn't seem likely either.
From their previous conversation, Sarutobi had already laid out his terms.
As long as Ryo didn't cause any major disturbances, Sarutobi shouldn't have done anything drastic.
After all, if Sarutobi made a move now, it would antagonize him—and he wasn't the kind of person to overlook that.
So whose people were they?
Masked shinobi appearing in Konoha… that left only two possibilities: the Hokage's Anbu or Danzo's Root division.
Both had motives to act, yet neither seemed to fit completely.
Shaking his head, Ryo pushed aside his thoughts and looked back at Old Feng.
"Old Feng, if I take care of those shinobi, would you be willing to help spread the word about Pokémon among the civilians?"
"Ryo, are you serious?"
Old Feng looked confused.
Ryo nodded. "I am. My Pokémon aren't just for shinobi—ordinary people should have the chance to get them too."
Hearing this, Old Feng's eyes filled with admiration.
But then, he hesitated. "But those shinobi won't allow it."
If only a few people had Pokémon, Konoha might tolerate it.
But if a large portion of the population started obtaining them, things would change drastically.
Not only would it disrupt the balance of power, but it would also reduce the demand for shinobi missions—directly affecting their income.
The noble clans might not care as much since they had other sources of wealth.
But for a large number of shinobi, missions were their primary means of survival.
Ryo understood this concern but still nodded.
"I'll deal with those shinobi."
Even if it meant becoming their enemy, he had no choice.
Right now, Dragonite and Gardevoir were strong enough to keep him safe during the early stages of the story.
But in the later stages—when Kage-level threats became commonplace, and even Six Paths-tier enemies appeared—Dragonite and Gardevoir alone wouldn't be enough.
That's why he needed as many people as possible to obtain Pokémon.
More people meant more points for him.
If he relied solely on the shinobi for points, he'd never gather enough to obtain Mega Evolution stones or Z-Crystals before the final battles.
While special treasure boxes could contain Legendary Pokémon and other rare items, the chances were too low.
A single Golden Box required at least nine storyline characters to capture Pokémon.
And for a Platinum Box, that number jumped to twenty-seven.
Even then, there was no guarantee he'd get what he needed.
He needed a safety net.
The best way was to spread Pokémon among ordinary people.
Old Feng hesitated. He trusted Ryo's abilities but was still worried about his own safety.
Ryo patted him on the shoulder.
"Don't worry. I won't let those shinobi trouble you."
But Old Feng remained silent. This was his life at stake—he couldn't gamble on it.
At that moment, Feng Tian suddenly spoke up.
"Boss, leave it to me. I'll help introduce Pokémon to everyone."
Both Ryo and Old Feng turned to him in surprise.
Seeing the determined look in Feng Tian's eyes, Old Feng's expression turned furious. He raised his hand and smacked his son on the head.
"Hand it over? Hand over what? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
He then turned to Ryo with an apologetic look.
"Boss Ryo, he's just joking around. Don't take it seriously."
"Father, I'm not joking. I mean it," Feng Tian replied, looking at his father with unwavering resolve.
"You…"
Old Feng was momentarily speechless. This was the first time he had ever seen this side of his son.
Then, his anger flared up again.
"Mean it? Do you even understand how dangerous this is? Those shinobi aren't as easy to deal with as you think!"
Feng Tian didn't flinch, his eyes locked onto his father's enraged gaze.
"I know. But I'm not afraid."
"You're not afraid? Fine, let's see if you're still not afraid after this!"
Old Feng lifted his hand again, ready to give his son another smack.
But just as his palm was about to land, he stopped himself. Letting out a deep sigh, he turned to Ryo.
"Boss Ryo, are you absolutely sure those shinobi won't cause trouble?"
Ryo nodded. "I'm certain."
Old Feng gritted his teeth and took a deep breath before finally speaking.
"Alright. I'll do it."
Hearing this, a smile appeared on Ryo's lips.
"Old Feng, thank you."
Old Feng waved his hand dismissively.
"It's fine, as long as you can guarantee our safety."
With that, he turned to Feng Tian and barked, "What are you looking at? Let's go home!"
