Chapter 13: The Dress Dilemma and Asgard's Festivities
Kael's POV
It's been three days since we arrived in Asgard, and things have been... eventful. Odin himself announced that tomorrow would be his second daughter's birthday.
Wait — second daughter?
Yeah, I was surprised too. In the MCU, Odin only had one daughter, Hela. But according to Hela, she had an older sister named
Eris Odinsdottir who was kidnapped when they were just newborn babies. That revelation threw me off for a while, but hey, this universe has its own surprises.
Asgard was in full festive mode. The entire realm was being decorated for two major events: the celebration of the long-lost daughter's birthday and, more importantly, our wedding.
I was lost in those thoughts when I woke up, blinking at the bright sunlight streaming through the window. My gaze shifted to the edge of the bed, where Hela sat, completely engrossed in something on the phone.
Yes, my phone.
Honestly, I expected to wake up with her lying on my chest or at least curled up beside me. But nope — she was flipping through photos with a focused expression, as if she were planning a battle strategy.
Kael: "Good morning, darling."
She glanced up, a sly smile playing on her lips.
Hela: "Good morning, darling. Look what I found."
She turned the phone toward me, showing a bunch of wedding dress photos on the screen.
Hela: "Which one do you think I should wear?"
My brain short-circuited for a second.
Kael (thinking): Oh no… one of the trickiest questions in existence. The 'Which outfit looks better?' trap!
I took the phone from her, scrolling through the photos as if my life depended on it. Each dress was stunning, and imagining Hela wearing them made my heart skip a beat.
Hela watched me with amusement, her head resting on her hand.
Kael: "You're really making me pick?"
Hela: "Of course. It's my wedding, but you're the groom. I want to see which dress you think will make me look perfect."
Kael: "You already look perfect."
Hela rolled her eyes, though a faint blush colored her cheeks.
Hela: "Flattery won't save you. Pick one."
I kept scrolling. There were elegant gowns with long flowing veils, regal dresses that would make her look like an empress, and even a bold black dress that reminded me of her battle armor.
Kael (internal monologue): Okay… if I pick something too simple, she'll think I'm not serious. If I pick something too flashy, she'll think I'm trying too hard. Damn it, why is this so hard?
Finally, I stopped on a particular photo — a dress that stood out from the rest. It was a sleek black gown with intricate gold patterns, a long cape flowing from the shoulders, and a crown-like headpiece to complete the look. It screamed power, elegance, and majesty.
Kael: "This one."
Hela raised an eyebrow, taking the phone back to examine the photo.
Hela: "Interesting choice… why this one?"
Kael: "Because it's you. Strong, regal, powerful. It doesn't just make you look beautiful — it shows who you are. The Goddess of Death, oh wait, now you're also the Goddess of Life and the Queen of Hel. And… my wife."
For a moment, she said nothing. Her emerald eyes softened, and a rare tenderness crossed her face.
Hela: "You really see me like that?"
Kael: "Every day."
She set the phone down and leaned in, her lips brushing against mine in a gentle kiss.
Hela: "You're getting better at this, Kael."
Kael (grinning): "I try."
But before I could bask in the moment, Hela's mischievous smirk returned.
Hela: "Now, let's talk about your outfit."
Kael: "Wait, what?"
Hela: "You didn't think I'd let you get away with wearing just any suit, did you?"
Kael: "I was planning on a nice tuxedo…"
Hela: "Tuxedo? You're marrying me, Kael. You're not just any groom — you're the husband of Hela and son-in-law of Odin. You need something that commands attention."
Kael (thinking): Oh no… here we go.
Meanwhile, in Asgard...
Thor paced the length of the courtyard, muttering to himself.
Thor: "A mortal… my sister is marrying a mortal…"
Loki lounged on a bench nearby, a smirk on his face.
Loki: "Still stuck on that, brother?"
Thor: "It just doesn't make sense! What's so special about him? He's not even a warrior!"
Loki: "Oh, Thor. Not everything is about brute strength. Besides, haven't you heard the stories? Kael's powers are far from ordinary."
Thor frowned. "What stories?"
Loki leaned in, lowering his voice conspiratorially.
Loki: "Father said that he's been chosen by something far more ancient and powerful than any of us."
Thor's eyes narrowed. "So what? He has to defeat me?"
Loki shrugged. "You just want to fight him. Look, if Father approved of him, there must be more to him than meets the eye."
Thor crossed his arms, deep in thought.
Thor: "I need to see for myself. I'll challenge him to a duel."
Loki chuckled. "Oh, I'd love to see that. Just try not to lose, brother. It would be embarrassing."
Thor shot him a glare. "I never lose."
Loki: "We'll see…"
Back in Hela's Room
Hela and I stood in front of a mirror, examining our reflections. She had created our wedding outfits using magic.
Kael: "So… what do you think?"(AN please leave some picture of hela and kael in the cooments)
Hela tilted her head, a playful smile on her lips.
Hela: "You'll do. But we'll need to add a crown."
Kael: "A crown? Isn't that a bit much?"
Hela: "You're marrying the Queen of Hel, Kael. You need to look the part."
Kael sighed, shaking his head with a grin.
Kael: "Fine. But if I'm wearing a crown, I'm picking it."
Hela: "Deal."
I turned to her, taking her hand in mine.
Kael: "Are you nervous?"
Hela's expression softened.
Hela: "A little. But with you by my side, I know we can handle whatever comes."
Kael: "Then let's do this. Together."
Hela: "Together."
Suddenly, a familiar ding echoed through the room.
Kael (thinking): Oh no… what does this dog system want right now?
