Chapter 2: Aria's determination
Aria's pov
I hurriedly wore my clothes ignoring my aching pussy as I rushed to the training field.
I could see the other warriors gathered there with a frown but I had a smile on my face.
Today was the intra-team contest, although it was a practice match but it was everything to me.
The winner would earn the chance to lead a squad of fifteen people. To everyone else, it was no big deal.
But for me, leading men as the only female leader was a very crucial task.
It has been my goal since I joined the warriors.
I wasn't born with exceptional strength. It was a man's job to fight and defend the pack but for so long,
Women have been regarded as inferior beings, just a tool for child bearing and humiliating tasks like cooking.
I refused to be like them. I learnt a lot from my mother. She tried so hard to please my father but all she got was a heavy dose of abuse and a severe case of depression.
I watched her lose herself just to serve a man and despite her poor health, she was forced to carry a child because she was made to believe it was her purpose in life.
She died during childbirth alongside the child. That was never going to be me, I tried everyday and night just to be as strong as the rest of the men.
I gave myself a little pep talk and faced the towering man who was looking at me with a sneer on his face.
It wasn't a hidden fact that most men in the team hated me just for my gender alone, it was something I have gotten used to so it doesn't bother me. But I was going to prove them wrong.
I started jumping on the spot, rolling my neck and other joints of mine to get the blood flowing.
The leader announced, 'it's time!'
The warriors cheered loudly and I knew they were rooting for the man to beat my ass.
We circled each other but while he sized me up, I used the opportunity to learn his movements.
He suddenly slid across the floor, snapping his right leg out to trip me. I stumbled a little bit and managed to right myself but he threw a left hook.
I hit the ground with a loud thud, he smirked at me and I heard the crowd cheer him on.
He charged at me but I was on my feet, throwing a fake right hook at him, he dodged it but I got him with my fake punch.
He stumbled but I wasn't done, I did an uppercut getting him right in the jaw before tripping him up.
I smiled when his head slammed against the hard floor, I got on top of him and started throwing punches on his smug face.
He was able to block most of them but he wasn't that lucky.
He headbutted me and I went down, he caged me in and threw back all the punches I gave him. I heard cracks from my side and I was so sure my ribs were broken.
He left me and I was hardly breathing. He turned to the announcer to get himself announced as the winner.
My vision was blurry but it won't end like this. Everyone is waiting for me to fail so they can say they told me so.
Girls shouldn't fight. They should stay home and take care of the house.
I was angry.
'Get up, I will help you.'
'I thought you were mad at me.'
'Mad, yes but I won't let you lose. Get up!'
I smiled when Artemis came to my aid. I managed to stand up and the crowd went silent.
The man turned back to meet me, he was shocked.
"I broke you already, do you want to die?" He sneered, "You should have stayed down,"
I smirked at him.
"You are a sore loser, and you can never beat me," I said right before I lunged at him. With a loud growl, I threw a punch straight at his liver. He groaned and went down like a sack. He glared at me but I just smirked.
'Good job.' Artemis said.
His body was going to shut down and he wouldn't be able to move.
We waited for thirty seconds as was the given time before I was announced the winner.
I won.
I felt the tears drop from my eyes at the revelation. Nobody came to congratulate me, they were all still pissed that I had beaten him.
I could hear the whispers. They didn't want me to win but they said everything I have heard before.
I was directed to the podium where the leader would award me the badge. I could hardly control the grin on my face.
It was happening!
'We did it!' I told Artemis.
I was going to lead my own squad.
She rolled her eyes at me but she barked happily in my head. The leader and Chad walked up to me.
I saw the disgust in Chad's eyes but I found it hard to care. He couldn't make me cum, who made him president of women affairs?I looked down at the rest of the warriors and they all had similar frowns on their face and I grinned even harder.
"Aria, on behalf of the warriors of this Kingdom. You are officially a squad leader," he said as he handed me the insignia.
I smiled, "Thank you, chief."
As the chief stepped back, I held the insignia aloft, my fingers trembling slightly. But before I could revel in the moment, a hushed murmur swept through the crowd of warriors, and their eyes widened in shock.
"Look at the mark on her forehead!" someone exclaimed, and suddenly all eyes were on me.
My hand froze midair, the insignia forgotten as I reached up to touch my forehead. My fingers brushed against something strange, something I had never noticed before. Panic seized me as I turned to the chief, searching for answers.
"What's going on?" I asked, my voice quivering with uncertainty.
