I ,Sasuke , Why Should I Defect To Konoha

Chapter 34: Ch-34 Passionate master and apprentice meet Kaiban for the first time

---

Five Days Later at Ninja School

In the bustling school corridor, Naruto's voice echoed with a hint of frustration.

"Iruka-sensei really… Why didn't he give us a proper strength test? I almost thought he was treating me like a real enemy…"

His complaints hung in the air, especially after learning that Sasuke hadn't been tested. To Naruto, it felt like a direct snub, as if Iruka didn't consider him worthy of a challenge.

"Yeah, that's right… I mean, we're all ninjas now, right?" Sakura chimed in with a nod, but her gaze kept shifting to Sasuke. Her thoughts lingered on how strong he was, yet silently wondered if genjutsu might reveal a hidden weakness in him.

Meanwhile, Sasuke ignored their complaints, eyes focused ahead. He hadn't been idle during their recent break; instead, he'd been honing his skills, mastering two C-rank fire-style techniques: the Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique and the Dragon Fire Technique.

"Look at all these people…" Naruto muttered, his eyes widening at the crowd of ninja candidates gathered before them.

Sakura glanced around, nodding. "It's like the whole world's here…"

"Let's go." Sasuke wasted no time, moving purposefully through the crowd. "Excuse us, please," he said, making his way to the front where the enthusiastic ninja Lee was giving an intense performance. With him were his teammates: the skilled kunoichi Tenten and the prodigious Neji, whom Sasuke admired.

"Boring," Sasuke murmured as he watched. He stepped forward confidently, his attention drawn to the two examiners—a pair of mischievous gatekeepers known for playing tricks on candidates.

"Do I need to undo your illusion, or will you do it yourselves?" Sasuke asked them, a gleam of curiosity in his eyes.

Gangzitie, one of the gatekeepers, smirked as he heard Sasuke's words. "Oh? Not bad. You actually saw through our little trick…"

"What of it?" Sasuke replied indifferently, his expression calm and unbothered. But before he could react, Kamizuki Izumo, the other examiner, made a move to kick him.

Sasuke didn't flinch. He stood perfectly still, as if unfazed by the attack.

"Explosion…" A flash of green streaked by as Lee intercepted Izumo's kick, blocking it effortlessly.

"Lee…" Tenten sighed, shaking her head with a hint of exasperation. It seemed her teammate's zeal had disrupted their strategy yet again.

However, Lee was unfazed by Tenten's reaction, his eyes now fixed on Sasuke. "That was close," he remarked confidently, only to have Sasuke cut him off.

"Stop wasting time and keep moving. Naruto, Sakura, let's go."

Sasuke's dismissive tone made it clear that he wasn't interested in any interaction with Lee. The last thing he wanted was a public display in front of Sakura, especially against someone like Lee.

With a smirk, Sasuke led his team inside, shooting a mocking glance at Neji before stepping into the classroom. In one quick move, he formed a hand seal, dispelling an illusion that had transformed the classroom number from 301 to 201.

"When did he do that?" Gangzitie asked in amazement, turning to his partner.

"That's the power of the Uchiha," Izumo replied, awed by the skill. "The Sharingan is a force to be reckoned with."

"Fascinating…" Tenten whispered, her gaze lingering on Sasuke's back. Her teasing remark sparked a cold stare from Neji, who was clearly unimpressed by Sasuke's talents.

"Uchiha Sasuke, huh?" Neji mused, a slight sneer on his face. "He better not disappoint me."

With a flick of his wrist, he motioned for his teammates to follow him toward room 301. But Lee was already on the move, speeding forward with his eyes set on Sasuke.

"Hey! Uchiha Sasuke!" Lee's voice boomed from behind, catching Sasuke's attention. Sasuke sighed, annoyance flashing across his face as he turned.

"What do you want?"

Lee clenched his fists, his expression fierce. "I want to challenge you!"

Just then, a system notification pinged in Sasuke's mind, announcing a new quest and reward for engaging Lee in a sparring match. Sasuke hesitated for a moment before deciding that even a minor reward was worth his time.

"Oh, great! Another challenge for Sasuke," Naruto grumbled, feeling overlooked yet again. "What about me? Aren't I strong enough to fight you too?"

"Not interested," Lee said bluntly, his attention locked on Sasuke.

Naruto growled in frustration, charging at Lee with chakra-imbued fists. But with a casual flick, Lee sidestepped, sending Naruto sprawling to the ground.

Sakura watched the scene unfold in bewilderment, only to find Lee's gaze turning to her with an almost shy expression.

"Sakura… I…"

Before Lee could finish, Sasuke's patience wore thin. He activated his Sharingan and swiftly cast a genjutsu, immobilizing Lee in place.

"Let's move on," Sasuke said, his tone calm but commanding. As they walked away, Sakura couldn't help but glance at him in awe.

"Sasuke-kun's Sharingan is amazing…"

Naruto muttered, feeling both admiration and jealousy as he followed his teammates. Meanwhile, a figure clad in green appeared behind them, whistling with excitement.

"Kakashi's students, huh?" Maito Gai, the instructor of Lee, Neji, and Tenten, observed with a grin. "Kakashi really does have some promising protégés. To defeat my Lee with a simple genjutsu… Ah, the youth in them is vibrant!"

He quickly released Lee from the illusion, breaking the chakra flow with a gentle touch.

"Sensei…" Lee murmured, his head hanging in shame. He couldn't believe he'd been defeated so easily, especially by a single illusion.

"Lee, my youthful protégé!" Gai cried, hugging his student with an emotional grin. "You've found a worthy rival today. This challenge is the spark you need to grow even stronger!"

"But Sensei… I challenged Sasuke not because he's my rival, but because of my feelings for Sakura."

"Ah! What a youthful reason!" Gai exclaimed, his enthusiasm only growing. "In that case, why not set yourself a challenge? Defeat Sasuke and then confess to Sakura. That's the spirit of youth!"

"Yes, Sensei!" Lee replied, his eyes shining with renewed determination. Together, the two shouted their passionate vows, their voices echoing throughout the arena.
