Chapter 32: Ch-32:Gaara's three brothers and sister participate in the test
"Does arrogance kill people?"
"Hmph, then I want to see how you let me die..."
Sasuke's eyes grew colder as Kankuro's arrogance only seemed to heighten. Kankuro glared at Sasuke, his eyes wild with anger. He casually tossed Konohamaru, who had accidentally bumped into him, to the side. Without hesitation, he flicked his finger, and an almost invisible line of chakra shot towards Sasuke with blinding speed.
"Idiot..."
Sasuke's cold voice cut through the air, his sharp eyes narrowing. With a swift movement, he released chakra from his feet, destroying the line of chakra. His eyes instantly turned red, and with a fluid motion, he formed a one-handed seal.
At the same time, Naruto grabbed his younger brother Konohamaru and glared at Kankuro, anger flashing across his face.
'Illusion: Narakujū no Jutsu...'
The moment Kankuro locked eyes with Sasuke, the genjutsu was activated via Sasuke's Sharingan. The illusion was simple yet powerful—designed to make the target face their worst fears.
Kankuro's pupils constricted as the fear overtook him. His body trembled violently, and his breath came in short, gasping breaths. He staggered, barely able to stand.
"Kankuro!"
Temari, noticing her brother's distress, quickly stepped forward. She reached out to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder, trying to break his focus and stop the flow of chakra.
"Hisss... Illusion? When did you seal it?!"
Kankuro's face was pale with fear as he regained his senses. His mind raced, trying to piece together what had just happened. He was trapped in an illusion, something he had not expected from such a young and seemingly indifferent opponent.
Sasuke, unfazed, turned his back on the scene and looked at a nearby tree. His red, double magatama Sharingan glowed menacingly.
"Sasuke-kun is so handsome..."
Sakura's voice filled with awe as she put her hands over her face, blushing at the sight.
"Brother Sasuke is so handsome..."
Konohamaru and his two followers echoed, their eyes sparkling with admiration. Even Temari, standing a bit further away, couldn't help but blush, her gaze lingering on Sasuke.
"Is there anyone? Where is there anyone? Sasuke, what are you talking about?"
Naruto snapped, irritated by Sasuke's apparent exhibitionism.
The next moment, a line of sand suddenly appeared beside Kankuro, swiftly forming into a protective shield. A boy with red hair and dark circles under his eyes, carrying a large gourd, appeared. His expression was cold and indifferent.
"I'm Gaara..."
Without a hint of fear, Gaara's voice was low and menacing as he scolded Kankuro.
Kankuro, still shaken from the illusion, instinctively shivered at Gaara's arrival. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that..."
"Trash, do you want to continue embarrassing yourself?" Gaara interrupted, his eyes narrowing as he turned away.
Sasuke tilted his head slightly, his gaze meeting Gaara's. There was a trace of bloodlust in Gaara's eyes, a look that sent a chill down Sasuke's spine.
"Your name is...?" Gaara asked, his voice as cold as ice, his gaze unwavering.
"It's not polite to ask someone's name. Shouldn't you introduce yourself first?" Sasuke smirked, his expression taunting as he countered with sarcasm.
"Gaara Sunagawa..." Gaara muttered, his eyes still locked on Sasuke. After a moment of contemplation, he finally spoke.
"Okay, I know! But I don't want to say my name just yet... Naruto, Sakura, let's go..."
At Kankuro and Temari's confused expressions, Sasuke shrugged lazily and smiled, turning to walk away without hesitation.
"Ah? Are you leaving now?"
Naruto called out, still confused, as he glanced back at Gaara.
"Sasuke, you haven't asked my name yet!"
Sakura also turned back, giving Gaara a wary look. "Don't you think you should at least tell us your purpose in coming to Konoha?"
Temari, sensing the tension in the air, spoke up. "We're here for the Chunin Exam..."
"The Chunin Exam??" Sakura gasped in surprise.
"Sasuke-kun, wait for me!" Sakura quickly ran toward Sasuke, eager to follow him.
"My name is Uzumaki Naruto... I'll remember the guy with the painted face and the one who called me Gaara."
Naruto yelled as he dashed off after Sasuke, his voice full of resolve.
Kankuro's face twisted in annoyance. "Painted face ghost? This brat..."
"These Sharingans... Sasuke!! Uchiha Sasuke? Now this is an interesting hunt..." Gaara muttered to himself, a gleam of curiosity and malice in his eyes as he observed Sasuke's retreating figure.
Kankuro, who was still reeling from the effects of the genjutsu, felt a chill run down his spine. He remained frozen, unsure of what to do next.

Hokage's Office
"This year's head student, Uchiha Sasuke... A beautiful boy!!"
Asuma blew out a ring of smoke, watching the confrontation unfold in the crystal ball with a look of approval. He couldn't help but praise Sasuke's performance in front of Sunagakure's team. Sasuke had kept Konoha's pride intact with his actions.
"The boy..."
Beside him, Kakashi's expression was thoughtful as he watched Gaara's form. His mouth curled into a slight smile, clearly pleased by the developments.
"Alright, let's get down to the advisory meeting..."
The Third Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen, wore a serious expression as he dismissed his jutsu, causing Kakashi and the other elite jounin to take a couple of steps back.
"Ahem... Now begins the official Chunin Exam recommendation."
The Hokage's voice filled the room with authority. "Kakashi, Asuma, Kurenai... We have the names of the Genin teams who have completed more than 8 D-rank missions, making them eligible for the Chunin exam. According to Konoha's practice, it is better to complete more than two times the number of quests. Have you made your decision?"
Looking at the assembled jounin, Sarutobi Hiruzen spoke seriously, as though waiting for a response.
Kakashi, without hesitation, stepped forward. "Sir Hokage, I present Team 7, led by me. Uchiha Sasuke, Uzumaki Naruto, Haruno Sakura. I recommend they participate in the Joint Chunin Selection Exam."
Kakashi spoke solemnly, his hand raised to seal the recommendation.
"As for me, Sir Hokage," Asuma followed, "I recommend Team 10—Shikamaru Nara, Ino Yamanaka, Choji Akimichi—to take the Chunin Exam."
Asuma's voice was steady and confident, his demeanor serious as he continued.
"Sir Hokage..."
Yuhi Kurenai, not one to be left behind, stepped forward. "Class 8, led by myself. Kiba Inuzuka, Hinata Hyuga, Shino Aburame. I also recommend that they participate in the Joint Chunin Exam."
After Kakashi, Asuma, and Kurenai had each given their recommendations, a hushed silence fell over the room. The sight of three Genin teams participating in the Chunin Exam at once was unprecedented.
For the first time in five years, three newly graduated Genin would be taking the exam. This would surely be a turning point in Konoha's history.
---
And thus, the stage was set. The Chunin Exam, a test that would change Konoha, was about to begin. The young ninjas, including Sasuke, Naruto, and Sakura, prepared for the challenges ahead, each harboring their own ambitions, fears, and hopes for the future.
