Chapter 1011
<1011 – Eastern Chronicles (10)>
The gathering of wizards, Alliance of Necromancers.
They cursed Shaman Amhyeol to die instantly if he did not fill a certain amount of energy into the Necromancer’s Stone within ten days, under the rule of Sonbaek Sword Examination and Sonyeongsi.
A resolute decision made with the intent to not share the organization’s power with those who fail to prove their qualifications as companions in a great undertaking!
But the situation seemed a bit strange.
The instant death curse was lifted.
This hinted that Amhyeol had somehow succeeded in a comeback.
Moreover, the entire Sonyeongsi area had become a gigantic magical territory shrouded in darkness.
The inside and outside of the city felt different.
A city of eternal night where shadows loom and daylight does not exist.
The dense dark mana that prickles the skin had already spread its infamy across the Eastern Empire.
Weird creatures and demons, who should have been led by the wizards, broke free from the closed circle, the artificial magical territory, and set out to find the real magical territory.
Overwhelming.
The one who had once been the organization’s outcast and target for elimination successfully turned the tide at the brink of death.
Out of nowhere, he achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the country’s most formidable wizard, making his name widely known in the wizard and beast industry.
If good relations were maintained, one could have had a comrade becoming a chairperson in a major corporation, offering lucrative business opportunities through old ties and connections.
However, in business terms, they had been co-investors who, amidst the person’s scandals and crisis, frowned and pushed him to the cliff.
The idea of receiving good business opportunities thanks to networking was a pipe dream; it had turned into a terrible relationship where one might just end up being trampled to death.
“Still no contact?”
“Right… I can’t reach out anymore, be it through the natural life force or the burdens of karma I’ve built up.”
“It’s a tricky situation, yet there’s something admirable about it. An ordinary human bringing a part of hell down to the mortal realm and becoming a lord of his own territory.”
Even the dark sorcerers of the Western World who believe in lordship must be astonished at such a magnificent achievement of rising to the rank of an infernal devil and noble!
Yet, Amhyeol, who achieved all this, cut off all connections with the Alliance of Necromancers.
Looking seriously angry, it seemed clear that he intended to exclude them from his board and venture off on his own.
Of course, that may only be how they perceived it.
Amhyeol had long since moved on from the body of the lord he had possessed to the point of losing his very own soul.
The lack of contact stemmed not from achieving the realm of the great sorcerer but from the fact that he was dead.
“If I had known it would turn out this way, I would have treated him better from the start.”
“I judged too hastily.”
“My stomach churns at the thought of the missed opportunity.”
Opportunities that have slipped away do not return.
However, looking at his success, wasn’t it all thanks to the Necromancer’s Stone?
Considering that he started with the shared knowledge and strength of everyone, cutting off all ties and thinking he could thrive alone was hardly a respectable attitude.
“Isn’t that achievement ours?”
“That’s true. He didn’t start everything by himself.”
“We have a rightful share to claim.”
“However, since he severed his bonds so ruthlessly, he probably won’t acknowledge our contributions willingly, will he?”
“Then we’ll have to exercise our rights as investors through force.”
“Against a lord-level great sorcerer like Amhyeol?”
“One wizard alone wouldn’t stand a chance, but if we unite our powers, there’s nothing we can’t do.”
A cruel excitement rose on the lips of the wizards.
*
Sadi’s soldiers spread out to nearby regions gathering information.
“It seems the events in the East may wrap up sooner than expected. This magical territory commotion has made matters easier than anticipated.”
“What’s going on?”
“All the flagbearers have moved. Under the pretext of quelling the magical territory, of course, there will be wizards behind the flagbearers too. It’s all too perfect for a complete eradication.”
Sadi had absolute certainty.
The leaders of each flagbearer, consisting of wizard-level strongest individuals manipulated by a behind-the-scenes puppeteer like himself, would be tough to handle.
However, if true competent individuals like Sing or Oknodie took action, success could certainly be within reach.
Especially since Oknodie had a favorable match-up.
The grand premise of dark mana.
Those with more power could forcibly control those with lesser powers.
Oknodie was the embodiment of dark mana and the Dark Princess, a being who could never lose against the weird creatures or wizards of the Eastern Empire.
“This is perfect! I also have a quest lined up.”
“A quest?”
“Or you can call it a task! It’s a mission to save a million poor souls at the behest of the Old God <Disciple of Seokga>.”
Changing the heart of a single person is usually a cumbersome task, let alone saving their lives.
Saving a monumental unit of a million souls is a feat even politicians might struggle with.
However, Oknodie was no ordinary person.
Neither was Sadi.
Even Sadi could twist someone’s heart without breaking a sweat.
For Oknodie, it would be even easier than her.
“Just saving the local residents suffering under the Eastern Empire’s flagbearers would easily hit that million mark, wouldn’t it?”
“That’s certainly possible.”
“Of course~ You see~”
“Hehe. You’re throwing in some charm I see. That’s a bit scary. What are you trying to say?”
“Could you mind looking after the house for me for a bit?”
“The Sonyeongsi?”
“Yep.”
“What are you planning to do while we’re gone?”
“When all the flagbearers and wizards arrive.”
“Yeah.”
“Their base is bound to be empty, right?”
“… Huh?”
“Are they not constructing artificial spirit veins needed for area establishment to nurture their weird creatures while going about finding the secret organization of the Eastern continent?”
Being greedy is one thing, but who would have thought that they would come all the way to the mysterious Eastern continent and start thinking of backdoor heists amidst the turmoil?!
As a fellow dark shadow, Sadi Chocolate thought this was truly impressive.
“It should be empty. To enhance their weird creatures and wield even greater power, it’s only natural for them to covet the magical territory.”
“Hehe. Well then, I’ll leave it to you while I’m gone. Please keep a close watch with Sing. I’ll be off to pull some spirit herbs and create a livable land while completing my task!”
Oknodie, the rogue’s apprentice.
Picking up the art of theft once again after a long time (about two weeks)!
As Sadi waved goodbye to the excitedly dashing Oknodie, she suddenly sensed a foreboding atmosphere.
“Did she leave?”
“Yeah?”
The usually obedient Mini Nodys waved goodbye to Oknodie at roughly ankle-level behind Sadi and Sing.
What had started as harmless, round-eyed creatures suddenly had their eyes morph into triangular shapes as they exchanged sinister smiles among themselves.
“She’s gone.”
“She won’t come back.”
“Then we can’t stop her, right?”
“We can’t stop her.”
In a hurry, Sadi called up her terminal.
-Oknodie. How about coming back for a moment?
The message she sent to the terminal came back with the following reply.
[The current terminal cannot receive the call. Please leave a message after the beep… ]
Gone at breakneck speed, Oknodie disappeared into the unreachable area!
The Mini Noddy Sisters’ sinister gaze, certain that nobody could stop them, turned toward Sadi.
“Sadi sister. Give us snacks.”
“I want to sneak some junk food without sister knowing.”
“Give me a calf.”
“I want fresh liver.”
“Fifty fingers.”
Sadi broke into a cold sweat at their revealing of their true colors.
Giving was not the issue, but what would happen after?
Oknodie would come back from her bank heist and find the Mini Noddy Sisters had grown unrecognizably fat!
How could a half-blood like her, supposedly the biological daughter of the Chairman of the Foundation, chow down on food that even she wouldn’t use herself!
The Mini Noddy Sisters would be left with their souls sucked out and stuffed into an item, and the blame for not managing them would inevitably spill over to Sadi.
Sadi calculated that there was over a 90% chance that a very realistic ominous future awaited her!
“Hey guys. I have a brilliant idea, wanna hear it?”
“I’ll listen for just a bit since my sister’s friend is saying it.”
“I’m hungry. Keep it short.”
“Hurry up and give me fingers. If you don’t, I’ll bite your fingers.”
“I’ll tell you about something much tastier than that junky food, and you can eat as much as you want while it keeps growing.”
The sinister triangular eyes of the Mini Noddy Sisters turned to half-circles of surprise and doubt.
“Really?”
“What’s the name of that food?”
“Emotion.”
A master of gaslighting and a genius of psychological manipulation.
Sadi Chocolate twisted the minds of the gullible babies who hadn’t even been alive for a week in whichever way she pleased.
“The body won’t grow back if eaten, but emotions can resurrect if given proper stimuli. You can eat as much as you want without the worry of getting caught by big sister. What do you think?”
The half-circle eyes of the Mini Noddy Sisters transformed back into full circles.
Seeing their expressions filled with admiration and respect, Sing wondered if she should intervene or not.
