HxH: I became stronger even after I died.

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Humanity

The rusty iron bars of the cage have become brittle.

With the enhancement of his Nen, Moro bends the vertical iron bars, creating an

opening that allows him to escape the cage.

Ignoring the fearful gazes from those around him, Moro crouches down and steps out

of the cage. He hears noises coming from outside the compartment, quickly

sidesteps, and reaches for one of the iron bars.

He intends to break the bar but finds himself unable to do so.

In a moment of urgency, Moro notices that the ends of the bar are not welded shut, so

he exerts force to pull the bent bar away from the cage frame.

Just then, the compartment door swings open, sunlight floods in, revealing a tall

figure—and—

A handgun!

Moro's expression changes suddenly.

Given his current level of just having opened his Nen, even a small-caliber handgun

could inflict direct harm on him.

Furthermore, a Nen user's control over their "Nen" primarily comes from years of

practice, allowing their body to instinctively remember habits.

So even if Moro successfully opens his Nen, he will still need time to adapt and

familiarize his body with how Nen operates.

In this situation, firearms pose a clear threat to him.

Almost simultaneously with spotting the gun, Moro has no time to think; he throws the

bent iron bar at the person who opened the door.

Thanks to his proficiency in emission-type abilities, he has no issues with direction or

accuracy.

The rapidly spinning iron bar cuts through the air and precisely strikes the person who

opened the door.

A scream erupts as that person is hit and sent flying backward.

But at that moment, accompanied by a slight sound, a knife wrapped in Nen energy

flies through the air toward Moro's leg.

It's an attack from another person…

And it's from a Nen user!

In a rush, Moro barely manages to shift his body.

Swish.

The knife grazes Moro's knee, causing a spray of blood.

Moro's expression tightens as he endures the pain tugging at his wound and decisively

retreats deeper into the compartment, putting distance between himself and the iron

door.

He knows there are two people responsible for transporting goods, so he had been

mentally prepared from the start.

However, the sudden stop of the truck and that one of them is a Nen user still catches

him off guard.

More critically—

Based on when the knife was thrown, it seems that they had prior knowledge about

what was happening inside the truck before it stopped; that's why they instructed their

armed companion to open the door.

Moreover, since there was no heightened alertness when opening the door, it's clear

they hadn't disclosed too many key details to their armed partner.

This means they deliberately had their armed partner open the door to create a threat

while using them as bait.

They are…

Quite cold-hearted.

Moro presses himself against the side wall of the compartment with a serious

expression.

He glances up at a dim corner of the ceiling where he can faintly see a red light dot.

It's a surveillance camera.

Retracting his gaze, Moro furrows his brow.

Not having considered these situations beforehand is due to his lack of thorough

planning.

Especially regarding the possibility of one of those transporting goods being a Nen

user…

But Moro never pours too much emotion into regret or frustration; learning from

mistakes and failures has always been his guiding principle.

This is also why he has managed to keep an antique shop afloat and achieve stable

profits in less than six months.

In an industry involving antiques and handmade artworks, it is rife with frauds,

schemes, and counterfeits.

Moro has certainly been deceived before and has fallen into traps more than once.

Yet it is precisely these experiences that have equipped him with essential knowledge

for handling various situations today.

Moro looks toward the compartment door.

The attackers have yet to reveal themselves since they first struck.

And there's one thing that concerns Moro greatly.

He is certain that when they attacked earlier, they had an opportunity to seriously

injure or even kill him.

Yet they chose not to; instead opting to target his leg.

Clearly someone capable of decisively sacrificing their partner in a short amount of

time chose to hold back in this situation.

"Is their regard for 'cargo' greater than their partner's risk as bait…?"

Moro realizes this point.

The so-called cargo refers specifically to them—the group of livestock.

From this observation, he deduces that they must be tasked with ensuring that their

cargo remains intact; yet he cannot help but think about how an attack on their

transport could lead to most livestock losing their lives…

Is there some hidden reason behind this?

Could this indirectly confirm their importance and value as cargo?

Unfortunately, although he was fortunate enough to survive initially, he quickly lost

consciousness afterward.

Upon awakening, he found himself aboard a ship bound for Kakin.

At that time he had no memories related to this world; what's more troublesome was

that there was a language barrier preventing him from understanding what had

happened immediately after waking up.

Afterward he didn't pay much attention to these matters anymore.

Otherwise if he had understood back then, he might have been able to grasp more

information now.

What can be confirmed at present is that those attacking him prioritize ensuring cargo

remains intact over their partner's life.

Perhaps this can be exploited…

Moro quickly checks his wound; it's not deep but could become a hidden danger if left

without treatment.

Time is running short for him.

"Hmm?"

As he thinks this through, Moro's pupils contract as he stares intently at the still

motionless door outside while glancing back at where the knife is embedded in the

wall of the compartment.

Time…

Without question, they hold all initiative yet show no signs of expanding upon their

advantage; they don't even reveal themselves.

Are they overly cautious or waiting for something?

Moro stares at the knife; for now he cannot discern any signs nor does he have any

intention of recklessly pulling it out as a weapon.

However, he vaguely feels that this stalemate cannot continue; he must make a

decision soon.

Let's take a gamble.

Moro suddenly charges toward the compartment door.

Outside his field of vision, Zazan hears movement and instinctively raises his left

hand; Nen surges forth as a knife materializes out of thin air—he prepares to throw it

following any sounds made.

The entire sequence of actions along with his immediate reaction stems from his

combat training background.

Yet rationality quickly stops him from throwing that knife.

Due to blind spots affecting his judgment—the preemptive strike could very well end

up accidentally killing livestock instead.

It's precisely this momentary hesitation that allows Moro to leap successfully out of

the compartment and land more than ten meters away where Zazan stands beside

the truck.

He guessed correctly.

Seeing that Zazan hasn't attacked him allows Moro to steady himself while discreetly

glancing back toward where the knife was embedded in the wall before tightening his

nerves in preparation for any sudden changes.

Zazan grips tightly onto his knife while looking at Moro with evident surprise in his

eyes.

This kid… is too strange.

"Do you always act so bravely?"

Zazan manipulates his knife expressionlessly.

Moro remains silent while focusing on adapting his body to flow with Nen energy.

Noticing Moro's silence causes Zazan's brows to furrow slightly as he coldly says: "If I

had attacked just now you would either be dead or gravely injured."

"You could have done so from the start; couldn't you?"

Moro replies calmly.

"..."

Zazan's expression shifts slightly.
