Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Get Rid of Master
Kaizen frowned slightly, watching Tansen's impressive maneuvers.
Among other things, Tansen was an exceptional driver.
The night had settled in, draping the roads in near-total darkness. Visibility was abysmal, with only occasional streetlights flickering along the route.
The convoy ahead had deliberately blocked the road, scattering their vehicles across it and leaving only narrow, treacherous gaps to squeeze through.
Even an experienced driver would have been forced to slow down to avoid crashing. But not Tansen.
Instead, he maintained his speed, navigating the gaps with flawless precision.
Kaizen had only seen this kind of skill in movies back in his previous life. But even so, this was only the beginning of the night's excitement.
The convoy wasn't about to let their quarry escape so easily.
"Chase them!" someone barked from one of the cars behind.
In an instant, over a dozen vehicles roared to life and closed in on them.
Tansen caught sight of the pursuing convoy in the rearview mirror. Rather than panic, a grin spread across his face.
"You think you can keep up with me?" he muttered under his breath.
"Keep dreaming! I'm the God of the Road, Tansen!"
Kaizen glanced over his shoulder at the chase unfolding behind them.
Initially, he'd planned to handle their pursuers himself. But seeing Tansen's driving skills in action, he reconsidered.
"There's no need for me to get involved," Kaizen thought. "Tansen's got this."
He leaned back against the seat, his expression contemplative.
"Still... who exactly are they after? Me or Tansen?"
If they were after him, they weren't much of a threat. It reminded him of the time he'd first encountered hired killers back in Heavens Arena.
"Seems like that bounty on my head still hasn't been revoked," Kaizen mused, recalling the five-million Jenny reward someone had placed on him.
He wasn't particularly concerned. After all, Kaizen had already taken down, a notorious target with a 500-million Jenny bounty on his head. Compared to that, five million was a mere trifle.
"Only small fry would accept a contract this cheap."
Three hours later, the last of the pursuers had dropped off. Tansen had successfully shaken them.
He pulled into a quiet town to refuel and stock up on supplies. After a brief stop, they hit the road again, reaching their destination two days later.
Tansen pulled into a narrow street corner and parked the car.
"We're here, Kaizen."
Kaizen nodded in appreciation.
"Thanks."
"No problem!" Tansen grinned, leaning his arm out of the window. "Man, that chase was fun! I haven't had this much excitement in a while. Those idiots didn't stand a chance."
He patted the steering wheel fondly.
"How about it? I think I earned my commission, don't you?"
"Fair enough." Kaizen pulled out some cash from his pocket and handed it over without hesitation.
Tansen accepted it with a satisfied nod.
"Perfect. Just what I was hoping for."
As Kaizen and Lina stepped out of the car, Tansen leaned out the window again.
"Hey, remember to hit me up if you need a driver next time. I'm reliable!" He gave a playful wink and thumped his chest.
Kaizen chuckled. "I'll keep that in mind. I might send some work your way."
He appreciated Tansen's straightforwardness. Despite not knowing Kaizen's true abilities, Tansen had treated him and Lina as equals—something rare, even among the Zoldycks' own butlers. Most people Kaizen encountered couldn't look past his age, at least until he demonstrated his strength.
"Tansen..." Kaizen whispered as the car disappeared down the street, a vague memory surfacing.
In his previous life, he'd seen a character in a movie that resembled Tansen—a tough guy with thinning hair and a devil-may-care attitude. But the real Tansen had something more genuine about him.
"Lina, let's go."
The address that Zeno had given Kaizen led to a park not far from where they were now. A walk of just a few kilometers would get them there within ten minutes.
Both Kaizen and Lina were faster than ordinary people.
The streets were eerily quiet, with only a handful of passersby giving them curious glances. Most people paid them no mind, though the occasional pretty woman caught the eyes of a few young men, prompting a few whistles.
"Too bad they're not handsome enough," Kaizen thought with a smirk. "Guess charm only works if you look the part."
Soon, the park came into view. It was small, with just enough visitors to avoid looking abandoned. The entrance was open, unguarded. Anyone could come and go freely.
Kaizen and Lina stepped inside.
Almost immediately, Kaizen felt a sharp gaze lock onto him.
"Found him," Kaizen thought, his senses alert. "The exorcist Zeno mentioned must be nearby."
Following the gaze, Kaizen approached.
An old man stepped out of the shadows.
He was stocky, with an imposing build that belied his age. Dressed in plain work clothes, the outline of powerful muscles was still visible beneath the fabric.
"Stronger than most fighters at Heavens Arena," Kaizen noted silently.
The man's short silver hair and tired, drooping eyes gave him the appearance of someone perpetually on the edge of exhaustion. But Kaizen could sense the man's aura—strong, controlled, and seamlessly integrated into the environment.
If Kaizen weren't trained in Nen, he might not have noticed the man at all.
"You were sent by Zeno?" the old man asked, his voice deep and measured.
"That's right," Kaizen replied calmly.
"Follow me."
Without another word, the old man turned and led them deeper into the park.
The further they went, the fewer people they encountered. Eventually, they passed through a small forest and emerged into a secluded clearing.
In the center of the clearing stood two modest wooden cabins.
A patch of sand stretched out in front of them, where a young man was diligently practicing his techniques.
Hearing footsteps, the young man looked up.
"Master."
He paused when his eyes fell on Kaizen and Lina. For a moment, his expression froze in confusion.
