House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men

Chapter 30: The Endgoal

[Several Months Later...]

(Drakken's POV)

"Where I am from, Men are not at the top of the food chain." I said as I sat at the table, cutting through the steak that was prepared in front of me, "No. They are not. There are beings, far superior to them. A world where magic is prominent and gods walk among men...."

"Gods...?" Mya said as she sat in front of me, "What? A land of gods?"

"You can call it that if you wish." I said as I took a piece of meat and placed it in my mouth, "Men are forced to make a choice; either stay inferior or fight their way up. In a world where the weak get eaten, what do you think the nature of men is?"

"To fight....." She responded

I nodded, "That's right." I said, "The concept of good and evil is convoluted, everything and everyone is out for themselves. Even beings of darkness are erratic and unorganized and that is where Chaos prevails. Chaos is unpredictability and unpredictability is the worse power one can go up against. One minute, a constant is.....well....constant.....and the next, that constant is out the window and you're left with various variables that are flying all over the room.....in a manner of speaking of course."

"I don't understand..." She said as she looked at me, her dark eyes glimmering in the candlelight

I pointed at my head, "Chaos resides in this little cranium of mine." I told her, "Do you want to know why? Because it is within my nature to hold Chaos...I am a Calamity at my core, the more unstable such power gets....it affects my mind and you'll see that savage side of me. It is still me, but a very...ugly version of me.....but regardless, it is still me."

"You are not a god?" She asked

"I am." I said, "But it's far more complicated than that."

She looked at the table, a bit confused by the conversation. I didn't blame her, it was definitely tough to process. I had held her "hostage" for months and all she's heard from me is constant orders to get me what I want and endless ramblings about how her blood is precious to the current plan I have. And in the long run, this plan of mine isn't even going to widely affect it. All I am doing is adding one tiny weapon to my empty Arsenal.

"So...." She said, "Is that why you are doing all of this? C-Chaos?"

I pointed at her plate, "Eat." I said, "You need the nutrition. One more week of blood draining and that is it, I'll have you heal."

She gently grabbed her fork and began to pick the already cut pieces of steak, "I...." She said, "I still cannot see why....why create all of this? Why start a vicious battle...? Why do-"

"The Battle was simply to kickstart my War Sorcery." I told her, "That is all. While I do enjoy War and the ruin it brings, I don't need to prolong one right now. At its peak, my War Sorcery is virtually unstoppable in a vast conflict. But it's far from it. I'll work towards it, that much is sure. Sol'Tyr is missed right about now.....the War Dragon has always been a worthy companion."

"I..." She said as she ate, "What is the point of opposing the Targaryens? You do not wish to simply live a life alone? Nobody could bother you, your power is too great to be threatened. If.....if you don't wish to destroy everything yet, why even.....why even bother....? What's your plan? What is your goal?"

I looked at her, "Where I'm from...." I started, "There is this island.....it was not that large, a couple dozen miles in total...well, there were these small little furry mammals that were native to that location. That little creature had no fear of anything and was friendly towards any other living thing that approached. Pirates, Sailors, and even other beings that came across the island were perplexed that the island's only native inhabitants were these small and seemingly adorable mammals. They were so friendly, so devoid of fear that they could not bring themselves to harm them....."

She blinked, saying nothing, a bit confused but focused on the story.

"Well, my friend and I once happened upon that island." I continued, "And when we discovered this, he mentioned that countless generations worth of evolution built them that way. Their instinct is to not feel fear but friendly curiosity. So I told him that it would probably take another countless generations of environmental changes, bad changes, to change that. To force Fear into their instincts."

"I see...." She said, "I can understand something like that. A change....of scenery, a bad one, so to speak. It will make nature adapt in their own way. To make Fear an instinct, it adds more to their chances of survival."

I nodded, "Yes." I said, "My friend, someone I would consider a brother....he's worse than me. More dramatic, more cruel, more sadistic. A straight piece of shit. We are a great duo. Well, you know what he said to me? He told me that he was capable of speeding up that process, that he would instill Fear into these creatures' very being. He told me that he would need a single month to do centuries' worth of Natural Selection.....that he could traumatize small innocent creatures so badly that their offspring and their offspring's offspring would learn the feeling of Fear. He made me a bet, too. 100,000 Thousand Gold and for me to go and kill an Elven Lord, bring him his head later."

"I...." she frowned, "Was that even possible?"

"The next month, I was short 100,000 gold and had to destroy an Elven Compound, beheading an Elven Lord who had lived nearly a thousand years in that Land." I said as I leaned my head on my hand, "Afterwards, we spent nearly a year terrorizing the Elves, using that practice and instilling Fear into their people. I wonder if they still look at the shadows of a tree now..."

"What are.....Elves?" She asked

I waved her off, "Pompous pricks, that's what." I said, "They're beings similar to humans, taller, better-looking, and don't age. They have pointy ears, too. I don't think you guys have them."

She looked at me, in awe, as if the information I was giving her fascinated her.

I had nobody else to talk to so this was alright to do, in my eyes.

"My point is...." I said, "That's what I want to do."

"What?" She asked

I smirked, "Your King...." He said, "Those people. They sit atop their dragons and think they're high and mighty, feeling like they don't have to fear anyone. Well, to me.....they're the little creatures from that island, with no natural predators...they're the Elves in that Forest, that did not have anyone to hunt them down and terrorize them. That's what I want to do.....to instill Fear into the Targaryens....for the generations of little white-haired shits to feel nothing but Fear when my name is mentioned. I am stuck here, why not have some fun? I can't destroy everything, it will get boring....."

"So why not torment them?"
