Chapter 6: Chapter 5
Chapter 5
This chapter shows Hae Jin seated on the same couch he sat on earlier but this time, with the kid he just met.
While Sung-Yoon, she was still on the dirty floor. Angrily murmuring to herself.
'Give me a seat!!' she tells me, annoying me.
Seriously, I'm tired of these disrespectful characters.
'Give me a seat!'
*Sigh, this is going nowhere. Okay dear, why don't you ask Hae Jin? I can't do that unless he says so.
'Tsk! Just continue the story'
I don't like getting ordered around by a mere character.
'Shut Up!!'
You too.
Anyway, sorry my precious fans, let's continue the......
'Talking to your imaginary fans?'
Wipe that smirk off your damn face stupid Sung-Yoon. I might or might not have fans but I strongly believe I have people who like me.
'Keep dreaming'
Gosh, I'm tired of this. Okay, I'll just ignore it.
'Did you just call me 'it'?
Let's continue.
'Hey! I'm talking to you!'
So, Hae Jin and the kid were seated on the couch he sat on earlier while the immature and stupid Sung-Yoon was back on the dirty floor.
'Take that back!'
The immature and stupid Sung-Yoon couldn't stop thinking about why she was still on the floor while the new guest had a seat. Why was that? Because he was a kid? And why wasn't Hae Jin giving her a seat? She came first! And for god's sake, they just had a heart to heart conversation!!
This kid, she hated him!
Stupid and Immature Sung-Yoon....
'I said take that back'
Thought, glaring fiercely at the kid who had no idea he had just earned himself an enemy by acting like a kid he was.
Meanwhile, Hae Jin was still staring at the kid in disbelieving shock.
The kid really was human, said so when he (Hae Jin) asked. Of course, the kid gave him that 'Are you okay in the head' kind of look when he asked that question.
But something was puzzling. How was this possible? The kid could see him, hear him but not Sung-Yoon.
Was it a common thing (For humans to see ghosts but not all ghost)
Now, he didn't know whether to feel sorry for Sung-Yoon or continue being happy like he was.
Yes! He was happy! Very happy! Whether it was right or wrong considering Sung Yoon wasn't experiencing the same kind of happiness he was feeling because the kid couldn't see or hear her but he still was.
For the first time in his life as a ghost, a human could see and hear him.
Who in his situation wouldn't be happy?
Wow! What were the odds of having his wishes granted? Zero, yeah that was it, yet here he was, seated beside a human who could hear him, see him. With the touching part, he hasn't tried and was afraid to.
What if his hand passes through the kid like what happened with the woman? But then,.........what if he was able to touch the kid? Won't that make him his special one?
Oh, heavens, he was so eager to find out! But the fear still lingers, trying to consume all positive thoughts and feelings.
Still,.......... gosh! He still couldn't believe a human could see and hear him. This........This definitely was a dream come true!!
Exactly what he has been praying, hoping and wishing for all these years finally came true today! A human could see him!, hear him!!
The saying, "Having patience for a hope or wish always pays off!' was true.
Thank God for this!!!
"Mister, what are you thinking about?" Almost immediately, Hae Jin snapped out of his thoughts, looking at the kid.
Oh, he must say. This kid really was cute! He seems to be around the age of four or maybe five, had deep pink hair and light pink eyes. And he was a real cutie.
Whose kid was he anyway?!!
Uh, wait, was he missing something?......... Uh,......wait, wait, wait! Did the kid just call him 'Mister!'
Why was he called 'Mister' when he wasn't even old?! He was only 24! 24 for god's sake!
24, the age Hae Jin died. Hae Jin prefers to use this age as his real age. He liked it so much better cause it felt like he was alive. Still young and energetic.
His life spent as a ghost, to him, didn't count as being alive.
Glaring at the poor kid, Hae Jin exclaimed angrily, "I'm not mister. You can call me Hae Jin or Hyung"
The kid beamed at his words, "Okay then, I'll call you hyung"
Better! Hyung was much better than being called 'Mister'. Heavens knew, the word still left a bad taste on his tongue.
"Good, so what are you doing here?" He asked but didn't get to hear the kid's answer because Sung-Yoon called out to him, "Hey", gaining his attention.
"What?" he asked her. Sighing tiredly, Sung-Yoon asked, "Aren't you forgetting something?"
Hae Jin raised a brow in question, "I'm not planning on stepping out" he said, thinking that might be the reason why she asked such a question.
"That's not it. Have you considered this kid might be your special one? I mean.... He can only see you, hear you......"
"But it means nothing, you said so yourself" Sure the kid only seeing him might mean something but..... It couldn't go that far of him being his special one, right?
*Sigh, she sighed tiredly and said, "Let me finish"
Sure, why not? She already had his full attention. Hae Jin thought.
"Why don't you try touching him or letting him touch you. That's the only way you're know if he's your special one or not"
Hae Jin looked back at the kid who had a questioning look on his face. Probably because to him, he was talking to the air.
Sung-Yoon was right. A few moments ago, he was eager and overexcited to find out but now........ He was scared. Scared to do it and find out the kid wasn't the one and he would have to live in this hellhole for the longest time without ever getting another glance of the outside world.
Scared to find out what the kid's reaction would be if his hand passed through him. Then, he'll find out he was a ghost.
So far, the kid had no idea he was a ghost and he wanted to keep it that way. He didn't want the only human who can see and hear him running away from him.
Not yet.
He has waited for far too long to get this miracle only to get it snatched.
No, definitely not yet.
"Hae Jin" Sung-Yoon called out his name. Snapping out of his thoughts, Hae Jin looked up at Sung-Yoon, a sad smile playing on his lips as he said, "I heard you. I have to find out if he's my special one or not"
"Hyung, who are you talking to? You're really scaring me" The kid said in a confused and frightened tone, looking just that.
Hae Jin looked at him then at Sung-Yoon and then looked back at the kid.
Ah, he must look really crazy right now.
*Sigh, what a mess.
"Are you sure you're alright in the head?" What the ..... Hae Jin's eyes shone with surprised and anger, staring deadly at the kid but the big mouth just kept running,
"You keep talking to someone beside you but I don't see anyone. Are you sure you're alright in the head?" Oh, he said it again.
"Do you need medical care? My mother and father are doctors" the innocent kid said proudly, smiling, however, Hae Jin didn't feel the same.
He was pissed off! The kid just called him crazy!! Okay, maybe he did seem crazy but that didn't mean he wanted to hear!!
"They can help you. Also, what's a special one?"
"Okay, listen kid, I'm alright. I'm not crazy" Hae Jin said, gritting his teeth, trying his hardest to calm down his anger.
Succeeding, he sighed, "I don't need medical care"
'Ghosts don't', he thought before continuing.
"And also, you don't need to know what a special one is. If you keep talking about it again, I'll think you need a medical care"
The kid silenced himself, pressing his lips tightly together with a sad look on his face.
Good, he finally shut up. Hae Jin thought with a smile.
"Oh, Hyung" Oh goodness! Here we go again! It hasn't even been two minutes since he shut up and he was already talking again?
What the heck was up with kids these days? Were all the human kids like this brat! Did they all talk so much like him?! What has become of this generation?! What food are they fed?!
Gosh! He wanted a human to see him, hear him. He wanted to befriend a human. Someone he could talk with, laugh with but he got this brat!
Why?
'Darling, shut up and be grateful and thankful'
'I don't want to hear that from you writer'
'Who cares'
"Hyung, why is it that all the furniture is covered? And why is your house so dirty? Everywhere looks so dirty, the walls, floors. I can literally count all the cobwebs around! Don't you clean up? You'll get sick" The cute kid said innocently, scanning the room.
Deja Vu! This was definitely deja Vu! Sung-Yoon also said the same.
"I told you so". Sung-Yoon said, a smirk playing on her lips. Irritated, Hae Jin said, "You shut up"
"And you," he pointed at the kid, "I'm fine. I've been living in the house just as you see it for years" And nothing has happened to him so far.
"And, all the furniture is covered because I'll be moving out soon. Don't ask anymore questions" He was getting tired already. Maybe he should just reveal his true identity to this annoying kid! And then.... Whatever happens, happens.
.................. *Sigh, but then,......... What if he never finds a human who can see and hear him ever again?
He can't do this.
"Hyung"
"Gosh! What again?" Does this kid ever stop talking? He was literally tired over here.
"Don't you want a human friend? You've got one" Sung-Yoon said, smiling.
Annoyed, Hae Jin rolled his eyes. Yes he did want a human friend but now......
*Sigh, he sighed, he felt so tired. Speaking with this kid really took a lot out of him.
"Do you have any more questions?" He said tiredly, scratching his head.
"I'm sure he does. The kid talks like he's given a script" said Sung-Yoon and Hae Jin burst out laughter.
The kid wanted to ask what was so funny but he didn't get the chance to because he was taken back by the sight of Hae Jin laughing.
He watched Hae Jin like he just saw a being from heaven. Which wasn't possible.
This hyung was so beautiful when he laughed! Not to forget, cute as well. That's the reason why he didn't want to leave yet. He wanted to stay with this cute and handsome hyung for a long time.
"You're so beautiful when you laugh! You're handsome and..... Cute as well" Gosh! Deja Vu! This was definitely deja Vu!!! Hae Jin yelled in mind, looking surprised as he stared at the kid.
"I told you won't hear it from just me" Sung-Yoon smirked, staring at Hae Jin who now glared fiercely at the poor innocent kid.
"Now, you shut up!" He said angrily to Sung-Yoon before looking at the kid.
"Listen kiddo, I'm not cute! I'm handsome and cool. You can even call me gorgeous, wild, sweet, I won't object but cute, no" he desperately tried to convince the cute kid but the reply he got shocked him to death..... Oh right, he was already dead.
"No, no, no" The kid stubbornly said, shaking his head in disagreement before looking back at Hae Jin with a sweet smile, "In my eyes, you're the cutest"
Hae Jin's eyes flew open in shock. His heart raced uncontrollably even though he was already dead.
Weird.
What the.... What was happening to him? Why this sudden giddy feeling he was having?
This kid,
Hae Jin immediately covered his face with his hands, trying to hide his flushed face but it was too late. Sung-Yoon already saw it and she was smiling amusingly.
She was learning a lot about Hae Jin.
Who knew his (Hae Jin) heart would flutter easily by a kid?
Sung-Yoon smiled warmly, loving the scene unfolding before her eyes.
"Oh, right. I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Tae Jin"
Tae Jin? The name sounded familiar. Where has he heard it?
............. Oh, right! The woman who visits once every year had mentioned the name before. But certainly, it wasn't this kid right? It could be anyone.
Hesitating, slowly, Hae Jin released his hands from his face. Though his entire face was no longer crimson red, I can't say the same about his cheeks.
Gosh! He felt so ashamed, embarrassed, so happy! And the racing of his heartbeat in excitement from the words of the kid which was still playing in mind was proof and puzzling.
What the heck was wrong with him?
"I'm Hae Jin" he introduced himself again and for the first time since that embarrassing episode, he noticed the kid 'Tae Jin' had his hand out for a handshake.
A deep frown clouded Hae Jin's face.
'No, I can't shake your hand" he said, shocking Sung-Yoon and disappointing Tae Jin as he looked down with a dejected expression.
What was Hae Jin doing? Didn't he want to find out if the kid was his special one or not? What was wrong with him? All these questions floated Sung-Yoon's mind as
she stared at Hae Jin in disbelieving shock.
Hae Jin couldn't. He couldn't bring himself to shake hands with the cute innocent kid.
He was scared and definitely not prepared for the outcome.
