Chapter 4: Revenge
Raiden shifted in and out of consciousness. Most of the time he didnt know what was happening to him, or around him. He heard Jacob call out his name, he heard some people boarding the ship as he lay there. He felt that someone lifted him up, and took him off the ship. He remembers hearing people yelling, a lot, but he didnt have the power to see or sense what was happening around him.
When he did open his eyes, his vision was fuzzy. But he knew that he was safe, as there was a distant smell of herbs and potions in the air, he knew that he was in a hospital.
It took some seconds for the fuzziness to go away, and for him to open his eyes with clarity. Then he pushed himself and sat up. He looked down to see that his whole torso was sewen up, and was covered in bandages. He traced his fingers on his wound, originating from his right collarbone, all the way to his left waist. It was a rather big cut.
You should consider yourself lucky, Jacob manifested himself to his right, A wound like this, you might as well have been. It took a lot of effort from me to stop blood flowing from your wound.
"You saved me?" Raiden asked mumbled, he didnt have the energy to talk out loud.
Yeah, I did. Jacob said while sitting on his bed, Also conserve your energy. You can talk to me with your mind. There is no need to speak out loud.
Raiden nodded. What happened? Did anyone else survive? What about Jackie?
I dont know Raiden. I am connected to you. I can only see or hear things that you can. My knowledge is as good as yours in this matter.
Raiden scanned the room that was he in currently. It was a private room in a hospital, which was strange as these kinds of rooms are reserved for people with money. He doesn't think that any of his crew members had money to put him here, so the question remains, how did he end up here?
Then he looked at Jacob who was staring at him with concern. How did you save me? I thought ghosts could cause hallucinations. They cannot touch the living world.
To understand that, say the word "Status" and I will tell you all about the power that you have as the Hero.
Raiden didnt know whether he could trust the ghost or not. But he had no choice at the moment, as the power of the Hero that the ghost speaks about, he might need it in the future. And he is more willing to do anything with the power, for revenge, to tear the bastard that did this to him and his crew.
"Status," and a golden window appeared before his eyes.

What the hell is this? He asked.
As the windows say, this is the Light Harbinger System. It is a power designed to accompany the Hero in their arduous journey. It basically gives the Hero the quest that they have to accomplish, while also giving the basic information to the Hero.
Raiden studied the window with curiosity and got further confused. Do you think that this system is reliable? It got my name wrong. My name is Raiden Hampshire, not Raiden Legovich Dyerion. And believe me when I say, I am no Legovich, nor a Dyerion.
The United Clans of Arcane was formed when several different clans came and joined their territory together. The founding clans of the country were called Noble Clans, and one of them was the Dyerion Clan. It was one of the most powerful among the seven noble clans, and every member of the clan was regarded as royalty. So, he was sure that he was not a member of the clan.
Another thing that Raiden could not understand was the word 'Legovich' in his name. The middle name of Legovich is only used by the pure-blood relatives of the clan, and they are the people who are in line to become the head of the clan. He was certainly not a Legovich either.
The system cannot be wrong. If it says that your name is Raiden Legovich Dyerion, then it must be. Jacob said, Maybe we could look into it at a later date… Now focus on the main quest that we have, I am here to help with the quest.
How are you here to help? Aren't you a ghost? Raiden questioned, as he could not understand what was the role of Jacob in all of this.
I am here to train you, what else did you think my purpose was? My job is to train you in such a way that you will not face any problems in the completion of your quest.
Raiden himself had experienced the kind of strength that Jacob commanded. He didnt know whether his visions were true or not, but they were indeed true, he was ready to do whatever he could to achieve his revenge.
It is then the door of his room was thrown open and a woman wearing a black uniform of Harmony Guards walked in. She had a cold face, brown hair and skin, with light brown eyes. and with a huff she walked in and came to stand beside his bed. "How are you?" she asked, her voice although cold couldnt mask her concern for him.
"I am fine.. Tamika," Raiden said in a low voice. With hope, he asked her, "My crew… are they?" He knew the truth, he still remembers the night when it all happened. It is just that, he wanted to hear it from someone else.
Tamika with a grim expression nodded, "They have been cremated following rituals,"
A part of Raiden always thought that what he saw that day, might not be true. A part of him truly believed that. But now after hearing the truth from Tamika, something inside of him broke.
He has known Jackie ever since he was a child. The other crew members as well, he had known them for a very long time. They were all orphans, and they were the only family that he had known.
The damn of tears finally broke, and he started silently whimpering for his lost family. Tamika hugged him as he cried, comforting him.
Grow some balls, boy. This is not the first, nor would it be the last death that you would experience in the journey, Jacob said while rolling his eyes. Seeing this Raiden realized, that he was not going to like this man at all…
