Having ‘Fun’ in this Room

Chapter 4: Chapter 04 – Meeting, Jean The acting of Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius

Perjaka stood outside Lisa's house, eager to see Mondstadt with his own eyes. He had never known where she lived—after all, the game never revealed the homes of most characters. As far as he could remember, the only house ever shown to the player belonged to Mona.

Now, seeing Mondstadt in person, Perjaka recognized the familiar layout from the game: the same array of buildings, the blend of stone and wood architecture, and the cobblestone paths winding through the city. Yet, there were notable differences. The city felt alive in a way the game never captured. Vibrant flowers lined the streets, adding splashes of color to the gray stone. In the distance, the iconic windmills stood tall, their blades turning slowly in the gentle breeze. And more importantly there was more people in street rather than in the game, which make the road and city became lively.

And, of course, there was the statue of the Anemo Archon—the symbol of Mondstadt—looming larger than he had imagined. Its presence was awe-inspiring.

Despite these subtle differences, Mondstadt still felt like the city he had explored in the game. However, it had grown in scale and detail, as if it had transformed into a true capital city of the Mondstadt region, brimming with life and history. More than he expected…

"Well, I promise to help you," Lisa said. "However, the first thing we need to do is report your presence to Jean. She's the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and the current leader. As the head of the order, she needs to know about someone with powers that differ from a Vision."

Lisa's explanation made Perjaka nod in agreement. "Thank you so much," he said sincerely, following Lisa as she began walking toward the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius.

As they made their way through Mondstadt, Perjaka noticed something striking: the city felt far more alive than it had in the game. Around the headquarters building, he saw many more knights patrolling and stationed, their presence lending an air of vigilance and authority. It made sense, he realized. A city of this scale would require far more protection than what the game had shown.

The walk from Lisa's house to the headquarters was longer than he had expected, and the numerous stairs along the way were exhausting. By the time they arrived, Perjaka found himself slightly out of breath, silently marveling at how much more real and tangible everything felt compared to his virtual experiences.

Hah... hah... hah... This city is much bigger than I thought, Perjaka grumbled silently, trying to catch his breath. The long walk and numerous stairs had taken their toll.

Meanwhile, Lisa strode ahead with her usual grace, leading him to the Knights of Favonius Headquarters. Without hesitation, she pushed open the heavy doors and guided Perjaka straight to the Grand Master's office.

Stopping at the door, Lisa knocked firmly before addressing the person inside. "Jean, I need to speak with you. It's urgent—it's about someone I feel you need to meet."

Even though it was still early in the morning, Lisa seemed confident that the person behind the door was already hard at work. After all, everyone in Mondstadt knew just how busy Jean was.

Meanwhile, Perjaka found himself wondering about his current place in the timeline. Was he here before the Traveler had rescued Dvalin, or before that event happen?

"Lisa? Alright, come in," Jean called out from behind the door, her tone as composed as ever.

Lisa opened the door, and Perjaka followed her inside. For the first time, he could see the Grand Master's office with his own eyes.

The room was spacious, with a high ceiling supported by intricate wooden beams. Warm lantern light bathed the polished wooden furniture, creating a welcoming yet commanding atmosphere. At the center of the room stood a large, ornate desk, cluttered with scrolls, maps, and documents detailing the affairs of the Knights of Favonius. Behind the desk sat Jean, who looked exactly as she did in the game.

Jean's tall and athletic build reflected her unwavering dedication to her duties. Her long, flowing blonde hair was styled with a side braid, adorned with a ribbon that framed her determined emerald-green eyes. Her outfit blended elegance with practicality: a fitted navy blue and white jacket with gold accents layered over a high-collared white blouse. A layered skirt in her back paired with knee-high boots and gloves. On near her neck, a distinctive brooch symbolized her connection to the Anemo element since it had the same colour with anemo, adding a final touch of grace to her commanding presence.

"Alright, so who's the person I'm supposed to meet? It's not often you ask for something like this, especially on such short notice," Jean said, her voice calm but curious. Her gaze shifted and settled on Perjaka, who was standing with such bright eyes, his eyes scanning the room with an expression of quiet satisfaction to be able seeing this office room.

"Yes, this is important," Lisa replied with her usual composed demeanor. "I'll admit, I hardly know how to explain it, and he might not look like much. But this person possesses a power unlike anything we've ever seen—something completely different from the Visions we rely on."

Lisa's words caught Jean's attention, and she listened intently as Lisa recounted the unusual events that had brought Perjaka to Mondstadt City. She described waking up in a room that seemed to exist outside of Teyvat entirely—It looked like a normal room, but very different from Mondstadt and had something that she never saw in this world.

Jean's expression shifted to one of cautious skepticism. The story was far-fetched, and it showed in the way her brows furrowed and her lips pressed into a thin line. For a moment, she was speechless, clearly grappling with the weight of Lisa's revelation.

Perjaka couldn't help but wonder if anyone but Lisa had told the story, would Jean have believed it at all? But knowing Jean's serious and pragmatic nature, he was certain that, regardless of how strange it sounded, she would take action and try to make sense of the situation.

"Really? Can I see it?" Jean asked, her tone curious but measured. Her emerald eyes studied Perjaka, who nodded, understanding that her request was only natural given the circumstances.

After all, what Lisa had described was difficult to believe without proof. It was far easier to trust something when it could be seen with one's own eyes. With that in mind, Perjaka decided to demonstrate the ability he had gained—the one tied to the prize he received after escaping the mysterious room.

Without saying a word, Perjaka focused, directing his thoughts inward. A moment later, a glowing object materialized in his hand—a sleek, familiar-looking iPad identical to the one from the room.

Jean leaned forward slightly, her brows furrowing as she examined the object in his hand. "Oh, that's such a strange-looking thing," she remarked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"Do you want to hold it?" Perjaka offered, tilting the iPad toward her.

"Eh, can I?" Jean asked, a hint of hesitation in her tone as her gaze shifted between Perjaka and the device.

"Well, of course. It's for inspection, after all. It's not like you'll break it or doing anything with it," Perjaka replied with a small, reassuring smile before handing the iPad to her.

Jean accepted it carefully, her fingers brushing against its smooth surface as she held it up for a closer look. The glow of the screen reflected faintly in her emerald eyes, and her expression shifted between fascination and puzzlement as she studied the unfamiliar device.

Jean's eyes focused on an app icon displayed prominently on the iPad's screen. The logo depicted a minimalist design of a bed, accompanied by text that read Perjaka's Room. To her surprise, the text was written in Teyvat's characters rather than the unfamiliar alphabet she had briefly seen on other foreign objects. This made it easy for her to read, adding another layer of intrigue.

The logo was the only thing on the screen, so Jean instinctively reached out and touched it. In most cases, such actions would activate the application immediately, but just as Perjaka had mentioned earlier—nothing happened.

"Hm, alright. I think this is enough for now," Jean said thoughtfully as she handed the iPad back to Perjaka. "But I wonder—can you actually do anything with this logo?"

Perjaka accepted the device with a slightly complicated expression, clearly pondering Jean's words.

"Actually, I can," Perjaka began. "This might sound strange, but after I got this iPad, it felt like information was injected directly into my mind. It allowed me to learn skills that I can activate by touching the app on the screen." He explained the bizarre experience of gaining this gift from the mysterious room.

"That's good to hear. Can you demonstrate it?" Jean asked, her curiosity clearly piqued.

Perjaka hesitated, glancing around the Grand Master's office. "I could, but I don't think it's a good idea to try it in here," he said. The room was filled with important documents, ornate furniture, and luxurious decor that seemed to belong to another era—reminiscent of medieval Germany. To his eyes, everything looked antique, valuable, and far too fragile to risk damaging.

"Ah, you're right," Jean agreed, nodding thoughtfully. "Alright, let's head outside. We'll test it in the field."
