Chapter 2040: The Law.
They resisted their fate of becoming nothing. Because they resisted, the process of annihilation became forced, and they lost the tranquility of accepting the end.
They refused to accept the process of annihilation and forced it to become unnatural. So they lost the peace of the experience.
This time their roar was in pain, not just in anger. In fact, they have forgotten about the god of power. All they want to do is survive.
They don't have the Transcension Boat, so they can't avoid the power of ANNIHILATION. They could only bear the brunt of ANNIHILATION by themselves.
Fortunately, they had their own Origin of Infinity. So they were able to resist for a short while.
A world god or beyonder would have been snuffed out instantly in the presence of ANNIHILATION. They wouldn't have a choice in the matter of resisting or accepting their fate. But that wasn't their fate because they were limitless, and they were very strong.
They could use the Aspect of Entropy, Space, Time, and Independence to resist. But none of them could work forever. Their existence was being destroyed little by little. It was simply inevitable.
A mighty voice spoke in the darkness.
"I I I. AM AM AM. ABSOLUTE INEVITABLE ANNIHILATION."
The voice resounded throughout the darkness. Its words had no distinction between the past and future. It said every meaning at once.
It meant that whatever happened, past or present, they would be destroyed. It was a law. It is unstoppable. They had to succumb to it. They had to obey it.
They didn't have the power to reject this law, so they rushed back to the void universe for refuge.
This worked partially in that being in the shell of the void universe protected them from the direct impact of ANNIHILATION. But the damage had already been done to their existence.
The shell of the void universe didn't and couldn't eliminate the residue of the power of ANNIHILATION in them. It certainly didn't do anything to stop the effect of the law of ANNIHILATION on them. So they were still unraveling.
They had heard the voice, and they understood what it meant, so the law had entered their minds. In a way, they had accepted the law of the ABSOLUTE and given it access to their existence. Wherever they go from now on, they won't be able to escape from the power of ANNIHILATION.
The void universe was never going to save them. Especially not when it was collapsing by the moment. They couldn't rely on it at all.
They were in the void universe, but the loud voice of ANNIHILATION still boomed in their minds, "YOU GIVE YOU. ARE UP HAVE. RUNNING AND NO. OUT ACCEPT OTHER. OF YOUR CHOICE. TIME FATE WEAKLING."
The power of annihilation had broken into their minds, bodies, souls, and origin. It was destroying their core and wiping away their Supreme law. Only their origin of infinity could hold on for a while.
By the looks of things, they were doomed. They didn't need ANNIHILATION to tell them that they were doomed for them to know that they were doomed.
They were smart enough to see that they were doomed, but they were stupid enough not to agree. They were so stupid that they believed that as long as they didn't agree with something, it couldn't be so, and they were mad enough to believe that they could resist the power of an Absolute.
So they didn't listen to the words of discouragement from. ANNIHILATION. They were not willing to give up as long as there was something they could do to avert their fate.
What they did to resist was to grab the Time Lock and resume their attempt to gain control of it.
It is the first thing they tried to do because they now know what other purpose the void universe has and why the Will of the void universe was warning them not to tamper with the Time Lock.
They don't know exactly who ANNIHILATION is and why such an entity is shackled with the weight of many universes, but they are already getting inklings about the situation, and they know for certain that they made a mistake when they left the void universe and encountered ANNIHILATION.
Unfortunately, it is too late for regrets. Or maybe not. Maybe if they gain control of the Time Lock and rewind time, they would be able to revert what had happened.
So they tried to gain control of it. This time it offered no resistance since the void universe wasn't around to oppose them, and it had lost its source of power.
Even if they hadn't gained 50% control of it before, they would have been able to gain control of it instantly now.
Their work in gaining 50% of it before didn't go to waste, though. They were already knowledgeable about the Time Lock, so they could use it very well immediately after they gained control of it.
They didn't waste time at all. They all put in the power of their Origin of Infinity to activate the Time Lock. It glowed and then collapsed. It disappeared from the present and reappeared in the past.
When it reappeared, it was the moment they gained control of it. So it had only gone back into the past by less than a second.
They realized the problem immediately. Legion-10 said, "We can only affect the period of time that we are in control of it, not before. Maybe we are doomed."
Legion-6 shouted at him, "Shut up and help me."
The Time Lock couldn't take them to a time when they weren't in control of it. After all, if they were not in control of it at that time, they wouldn't have it and wouldn't be able to use it. If they couldn't use it, then they wouldn't be able to rewind time with it.
Their attempt to use the Time Lock to escape from ANNIHILATION by reverting to the time before they met it was a failure. But the attempt itself wasn't a complete waste.
