Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Sheep... ???
"So this is what it feels like to levitate," Skye thought as he soared through the air. It was his first time experiencing this sensation—levitation was impossible in hell.
A few minutes had passed since he escaped through the space crack. Now, he found himself in the middle of a dense forest, the canopy above blocking most of the sunlight. Skye briefly pondered his situation before soaring upward and landing gracefully on a sturdy branch of a nearby tree.
The blue egg embedded in the center of his chest slowly rotated, glowing faintly. Skye focused on it and activated its power. The glow dimmed with each use as chunks of energy were drained away.
Information flooded his mind in rapid waves. As he processed it, the mysteries of this planet unraveled before him—its creatures, its rules, and its current situation—all becoming clearer with each passing moment. He continued using the blue egg until its energy was completely depleted. The egg dimly stayed motionless against his chest.
For a moment, he sat in stillness, taking in the forest around him. Then, a small smile crept across his face.
"They should be nearby," he muttered under his breath.
Choosing a direction, Skye flew swiftly through the forest. The greenery blurred past him as he traveled, catching glimpses of various animals darting away in fear. Hours later, the dense sea of trees gave way to an expansive grassland. Skye hovered above, scanning the landscape until he spotted what he was looking for—a massive flock of white, horned sheep grazing peacefully in the field.
The flock numbered close to a thousand. Physically, the sheep appeared ordinary, but from the information he received from the Blue egg of fortune he knew they were special. He flew a slow circle around them before descending to the center of the flock.
"Sheep, gather around me!" Skye commanded, releasing a fraction of his suppressed aura.
The sheep panicked, their startled cries echoing through the grassland.
"Baa! Baa! Baa!"
They turned their heads toward him, trembling slightly. Though their eyes couldn't see him, they felt the force of his presence. Gradually, their fear ebbed as they realized he posed no threat. Many resumed grazing, though a few curious ones approached him cautiously.
"Good," Skye said with a nod. "From now on, you will be Sheep No. 1, you will be Sheep No. 2, and you..." He paused, a small smile forming on his lips as he began naming them one by one.
Though confused, the sheep listened intently, their ears twitching as he spoke.
"Now, Sheep No. 1, leap into the air!"
The first sheep froze, its small mind struggling to process the command. After a moment of hesitation, it let out a soft "Baa!" and jumped awkwardly into the air.
"Good. Now, Sheep No. 2, jump."
One by one, Skye commanded the sheep, each one reluctantly obeying. As he continued, the sheep became more responsive, their movements growing sharper and more precise.
By the time the sun was high in the sky, the flock had learned to follow a variety of commands. Some jumped, others ran, and a few even closed their eyes on command. Despite not understanding why they obeyed, the sheep continued to follow his instructions.
Suddenly, a chorus of howls shattered the peaceful atmosphere.
"Howl!" "Howl!"
Skye turned to see a pack of wolves emerging from the edge of the forest, their predatory eyes fixed on the flock. There were at least fifty of them, their snarling mouths dripping with saliva.
The sheep froze in terror.
"Baa! Baa! Baa!" they cried, trembling as the wolves advanced.
"Sheep, calm down!" Skye's powerful shout cut through the chaos, forcing the panicked flock to focus on him.
"Charge. Kill them all."
The sheep hesitated, stunned by the command. For a moment, they stood motionless, unsure of what to do. Then, one sheep—a brave outlier—charged forward. The rest quickly followed, their horns gleaming in the sunlight as they surged toward the wolves.
The wolves hesitated, taken aback by the sudden, coordinated assault. They had never encountered sheep that fought back. Before they could recover, the sheep rammed into them with surprising force, sending several wolves tumbling to the ground.
Chaos erupted as the flock overwhelmed the wolves, surrounding them and delivering blow after blow with their horns. The pack didn't stand a chance. Within minutes, the wolves lay dead, their blood staining the grass.
The sheep stared at the carnage in stunned silence.
"Go and eat grass," Skye ordered.
Obediently, the sheep resumed grazing as though nothing had happened.
Skye approached one of the wolf corpses, his expression darkening as he considered his next steps.
'Well, that was dangerous,' he thought, flying into the body of one of the wolves and possessing it.
Inside the wolf's body, Skye controlled his soul to force the heart to beat artificially.
"Lub-DUB. Lub-DUB."
The sound of the heartbeat echoed faintly as blood began circulating through the body. Skye manipulated the organs and tissues, trying to heal the wounds. But soon, the wolf's body began heating up unnaturally. Realizing the danger, Skye quickly exited.
The wolf's corpse turned red-hot and began to smolder. Its fur ignited, and within moments, it was reduced to a charred husk.
'Well, that was dangerous,' Skye thought, watching the remains with a frown.
A soul may be special, but it was not impervious.
He waited for a while and checked the charred corpse. 'Its cells have completely died.'
He moved to another wolf corpse and tried again, adjusting his approach slightly. But the result was the same—failure. Some corpses burst into flames, while others exploded violently.
By the time the sun set, Skye had learned much from his experiments, though he was no closer to success.
The next day, Skye stood before the flock of sheep, the morning sun casting long shadows across the grassland.
"Let's go!" he commanded.
With surprising coordination, the sheep followed him as he led them deeper into the grassland, their journey just beginning.
