It's not easy to find advanced level magic that meets the requirement to "cure" Ultear's overflowing magic power.

Makarov finds some information about them, but all of them are in the possession of high-ranking people who are unwilling to let an unknown kid learn them.

Ultear's condition keeps worsening as time passes. Her fever gets more frequent and her magic power still goes rampant even after she releases a lot of her magic power.

Ur says it's because her magic power now recovers faster than before, so her reserve is full again in a shorter time, which causes it to overflow more often.

Ultear can't even fully enjoy her birthday that is also chosen as Alex's birthday because of this matter. But celebrating her birthday is the least concern that they have for now.

Also, because Ultear needs to release her massive amount of magic power every now and then, she and Ur can't stay in the towns most of the time.

They actually camp in the wild every day to avoid harming people when Ultear needs to release her massive amount of magic power by using her Ice Magic.

She can freeze a very large area at once, so if she does it in towns, many people will surely freeze to death and they will become fugitives. That's why they stay in the wild most of the time.

Alex also keeps trying to help in his own way. He often takes jobs outside of town and most of his jobs are escorts or bandit subjugation.

By escorting, he can go to other towns and try to search for information about advanced magic. As for bandit subjugation, he takes it because of its high reward.

If they can find an advanced magic book, Alex knows they will need a lot of money to buy it. So he needs to help Ur gather the money because he also knows that Ur can't work and collect money now while looking for the cure.

For escort jobs, Alex can do it with Cana and Gray. But for bandit subjugation jobs, he always does it with Laxus because it's very dangerous and both Cana and Gray are still not strong enough.

Months pass since then and it's July X776 now. They still can't find suitable advanced magic for Ultear. Ur found some books before, but all of them were incomplete and some even have defects that can endanger their users, so she tossed them aside.

Ur and Ultear have traveled to many places and still can't find anything. Alex and Gray keeps encouraging them. He calls them using the magic communication device almost every day.

As for Lyon, they still haven't gotten any news about him and they can't be bothered by it now because finding an advanced magic for Ultear is more important than that selfish kid.

The current Lyon is still just an annoying selfish kid. But he at least knows how to take care of himself, so they know he will be just fine even if they don't know where he is.

They are more worried about Ultear and Ur. But then both of them give Alex and Gray good news. They still can't find proper advanced magic, but they find a way to slow Ultear's illness.

"Eh? Celestial Spirit World?"

[Yeah, an acquaintance told me that we could send Ultear to the Celestial Spirit World while we look for the cure. She said that a day in the Celestial Spirit World is equal to 3 months in this world.]

Alex now remembers that there was a part of the original story where Natsu and the others went to the Celestial Spirit World just for a while. But some months have passed in Earthland, though he can't remember how long and apparently it was 3 months.

"So you plan to send Ultear there while you look for the advanced magic?"

[That's right. I have investigated this matter and it's true. It's just that to send someone to the Celestial Spirit World safely, we need a strong Celestial Spirit Mage who has a Gold Key. But I don't know any Celestial Spirit Mage who has Gold Keys and I don't know if I can ask an unknown person's help again.]

Ur has become very cautious of asking others for help after what happened to Ultear a few years ago. That's why now she is trying to cure her daughter herself and doesn't want to rely on others except for her disciples.

"I know a strong Celestial Spirit Mage that we can trust. She is very famous here in Fiore although she has retired now and I'm sure we can trust her. But she is a merchant, so she might ask for some payment."

[I don't mind paying if it means she can be trusted just by giving her money. But are you really sure we can trust her?] Ur is still wary.

"Yeah, but if you are still worried, then I can help you keep an eye on her while you look for the advanced magic for Ultear. I have confidence in my spying and hiding abilities."

[Are you sure? I can't promise I can find it quickly, you know.]

"No problem. I can use this chance to train too, so don't worry about it and just focus on the mission."

[..... Alright, I will trust you on this. So, what's her name?]

"Layla Heartfilia, the owner of Heartfilia Konzern Merchant Group."

Alex still remembers Layla because she is an important character in the story. Not only is she Lucy's mother, she's also the one who opens the Eclipse Gate at 7 July X777 for the Dragon Slayers to pass through.

Actually, Alex did an escort job for a merchant affiliated with Heartfilia Konzern a few months ago. The merchant he escorted was a blabber who talked about a lot of things including the Heartfilia Family.

But Alex never thought that they could use Celestial Spirit Magic to help Ultear. Certainly, if the time moves much faster in the Celestial Spirit World, then they will have plenty of time to find what they need while Ultear won't need to wait for too long.

If a day in the Celestial Spirit World is 3 months in Earthland, then even if they need a year to find the advanced magic, it will just be 4 days for Ultear. Her condition won't worsen that much in 4 days and Ur can do what she needs to do without any worries.

But Ur doesn't know Layla and truthfully, Alex can't just believe Layla blindly just because she is described as a good person in the story. She is still a complete stranger to him, so he still needs to be cautious of her.

Ur finally agrees with Alex's plan. They will go to Heartfilia residence and ask for Layla's help. This is their best hope now, so they can't hesitate and waste their time.

After Ur agrees, Alex goes to meet Makarov. He wants to ask for permission to take a rest from the Guild activities until Ur finds the advanced magic for Ultear.

Alex needs to explain his plan to Makarov to make the old man approve his temporary leave. Makarov finally agrees after contemplating it for a bit. He even tells Alex he will ask for his acquaintances help to also look for an advanced magic book.

Gray wants to join him, but Alex forbids it. He tells Gray to stay and keeps working because they will need a lot of money to pay for Layla's help and to buy an advanced magic book.

"Listen, Gray. If you want to help Ur, then help her collect more money. She can't work now, so she can't get more money. But she has expenses, so her savings will keep depleting. We need more money for her to purchase the advanced magic book that won't be cheap. So the best you can do for her is help her collect more money."

Gray looks down and clenches his fists while nodding. As Alex says, that's the best he can do now although he knows the money he can get from his jobs won't be that much because he can't take high-paying jobs yet as they are too dangerous for him.

After preparing what he needs, Alex finally leaves Magnolia and goes to Heartfilia Konzern. Ur and Ultear are also on their way there. But they are in another country, so it will take a while for them to arrive.

On his way there, Alex is thinking of many things because this might be another chance to change the story. Layla is one of the key characters in the story. Without her, the Dragon Slayers won't arrive from the past, so changing her fate will also change the future.

"I already changed Ur's and Ultear's future which will change a lot of things. What difference does it make for changing another person's future? Instead, it will be fun to see the changes."
