Ex-Husband Wants My Baby After Putting Me to Jail

Chapter 2: Chapter 2 Kneel Down and Atone, Deep Affection is a Sin!

It had been raining continuously these last few days, and there was a fine drizzle even on the day Amy Andrews was buried, with many people following along. Noah Bates insisted on making Violet Don kneel in front of Amy's grave, as if determined to see her kneel to her death.

Violet struggled, yet the man fiercely slapped her across the face, "Stop pretending to be innocent, you're the least deserving of innocence!"

Enduring the pain, Violet suddenly laughed.

In the drizzle, the woman's laugh was slender and despairing. Noah Bates, ignoring everything, kicked her hard in the mouth. Violet rolled away, coughing up blood.

Noah Bates' leather shoes came into her view; looking up at him, she suddenly lost that feeling in her heart.

So cruel, such a man, had she been wrong...

Wrong to have fallen in love with him!

Violet gritted her teeth, "Don't think I will kneel before her!"

"The crime you committed, kneeling is too light!" the man roared, picking her up and then fiercely throwing her back to the ground, but Violet didn't cry out in pain.

She laughed again, "You have a bunch of mistresses out there, Hazel included, and I pretended not to see. You're embroiled in scandals every day in the news and I acted ignorant. I, your wife, have been like a dog. Do you have any conscience as a human being? I harbor murderous thoughts against Amy Andrews? Who is she, Amy Andrews? Compared to family, education, background, is she worth even one of my fingers?"

"You've finally shown your true colors..."

Noah Bates used the tip of his shoe to lift her face, "I have prepared a special gift for you today; I wonder if you'll like it..."

No sooner had these words landed than a row of Police appeared at the door. Before Violet could react, they rushed forward, pinned her down, and swiftly cuffed her hands.

As she saw the shackles on her hands, Violet suddenly began to struggle violently, "Let me go, on what grounds are you arresting me?!"

"Murderer! Murderer!"

"Pah! And she's a Don Family daughter!"

"Heartless! Truly wicked at heart!"

"Young Master Bates is so unlucky to have such a wife!"

Reporters and cameras aimed at her, capturing her panic and confusion. Violet's face turned ashen, as if her soul had been taken, "Who ordered you to arrest me? Who?"

"Heh? Do you think, without irrefutable evidence, in this country ruled by law, they would wrongfully accuse you?"

The man's voice came from behind her. When she turned around, he held an urn, dressed in a custom-tailored suit, returning to Violet's field of view like an Emperor.

Violet's eyes reddened, "Noah Bates, are you behind my arrest?"

Noah Bates seemed to smile, "I only sought to give Amy Andrews back the truth. The police and I reviewed the surveillance video together."

"Truth? Truth?"

Violet laughed as if she'd heard some joke, suddenly bursting into gales of laughter. Everyone accused her, yet they were cautious of her now deranged state. The live broadcast captured her demonic frenzy for the nation, for 1.3 billion people, she looked like an evil spirit.

The handcuffs rattling on her wrists, Violet yelled at Noah Bates, "Noah Bates! Do you have any conscience at all! After five years of marriage, even a dog wouldn't be subjected to such humiliation!"

"Humiliation?"

Young Master Bates stepped forward, grabbed Violet Don's chin, "It's your own crime. How can you call it an insult?"

"I said I didn't do it! What gives you the right to arrest me!" Violet Don let out a bitter laugh, her last attempt at resistance was going to change nothing. In his eyes, she saw herself reflected, ridiculous no matter how you looked at it.

With a smack, a familiar sting came. Violet Don's tears fell in large drops. Suddenly, she snatched the urn from Young Master Bates's hands and in front of everyone, she dashed it to the ground!

"Noah Bates," she told him, "I would never stoop to do such a thing in this lifetime! Believe me or not, but I will never tolerate a dead man trampling over me! You'll get your comeuppance one day!"

Noah Bates screamed in a frenzy, choking Violet Don, "How dare you, how dare you!!"

"Kill me then!" Violet Don laughed bitterly, "You trust her so much, you ignore my innocence—what can't you do? Is it because you rely on my love for you? Don't you want to stab me in the heart? Go ahead, my heart is already full of wounds, I wouldn't mind another!"

The Police came forward and dragged Violet Don away with force, pulling her toward the patrol car. Onlookers watched the farce unfold, and the horrific expression on that handsome man's face made everyone feel uneasy.

Noah Bates stared intensely at Violet Don's retreating figure, "Violet Don, a lifetime wouldn't be enough for you to atone for your sins!"

Violet Don laughed out loud, tears forcing their way out, "Noah Bates, you'll regret this! Maybe even the child in Amy Andrews's belly isn't yours! And if one day, you find out that what you did today wronged me—"

And if one day, you find out that what you did today wronged me...

For some reason, a heavy rain suddenly began to pour, the cold droplets falling on everyone's hearts. In no time, the downpour grew heavier, as if heaven itself was moved to anger!

The torrential rain split her body, and as Violet Don was pushed into the car, her insane laughter kept on ringing out, lodged in the ears of everyone present at the burying site!

"Noah Bates, if I don't die, I only wish never to see you again. If I do die, then it would be the ultimate stroke of luck for me!"

Love is useless when it's deep; indifference is what yearning really looks like!

She understood now, she finally understood! Noah Bates had not left any way out for her; divorced her, and crafted her prison, she would pay for her foolishness for a lifetime!

Violet Don laughed until she coughed up blood. When the police car's window was rolled down, a myriad of camera flashes lit up to capture her mad appearance. But she didn't care, her gaze locked onto Noah Bates.

"I was wrong."

Suddenly, she no longer had the energy to keep up the struggle. She said, "Noah Bates, I realize now that I really made a mistake…"

Noah Bates stepped up, just about to say something, but then he saw her raise her head, her eyes empty as she looked at him, the whole world slowly crumbling in her gaze, "Noah Bates, the biggest mistake I made was falling in love with you…"

Five years of marriage, five years of love, shattered in an instant!

He had truly never given her his trust, so he was so ruthlessly cruel, casting her into Hell, turning all her efforts into a complete joke!

Noah Bates, in this lifetime, you owe me too much!!

The patrol car drove through the pouring rain, Violet Don's sigh dissipated quickly in the rain, just like that last gaze of hers—fleeting and numb with despair, like an old person reaching the end of life.

He should've been happy, avenging Amy Andrews... but when the moment truly arrived, Noah Bates staggered back two steps.

The wind howled behind him, the cold rain soaked his shoulders, chilling his heart.

Why, when the moment truly arrived, did his heart feel as though it was missing a piece, listening to her mutter to herself in such pain...?
