Chapter 1: Chapter 1 If She Dies, You'll Be Buried with Her!
Amy Andrews was dead.
Violet Don sat blankly by the bed, staring at the divorce agreement Noah Bates had thrown at her, feeling a shiver of cold throughout her body.
An hour ago, he had held her by the throat and asked her, "Did you push Amy down the stairs?"
An hour later, he called in a lawyer to draft the divorce papers, throwing them at her like a slap in the face, "Violet Don, you owe her two lives in this lifetime!"
Yes, two. Amy was pregnant with Noah's child.
Who was Violet? Noah's legitimate wife, but just a joke.
With her eyes tearing up, she looked at Noah, her whole body shaking uncontrollably, "I didn't push her down. How many times do I have to tell you?"
Noah didn't listen, just stared at her mercilessly, as if looking at a joke, "Do you think explanations are of any use now?"
No use, it was too late!
Noah believed that she did it, so it was done by her. No matter what explanations she made, they didn't measure up to someone who was already dead!
Suddenly, Violet laughed, stood up, and began to sign the contract with the pen in her hand.
Divorce, right? Fine!
"Noah Bates, Violet Don loved you for ten years, let's consider those ten years a joke. From now on, you take your road, and I'll take my bridge!"
My love for you, my heart returned to me! Violet held back her tears, insisting on laughing prouder than anyone, and signed her name on the contract.
Noah watched her, his cold laughter only deepening, "You don't think that signing a divorce paper is the end of it, do you?"
Violet turned pale, "What else do you want to do?"
"I want your Don Family to give Amy a burial!"
The man proclaimed coldly and without mercy, "Starting tomorrow, the Don Family will face Purgatory!"
Violet collapsed back onto the bed, trembling incessantly. She looked at the man with the devilishly handsome features before her. His features were sharp and stern, and his eyes and brows were ones she deeply loved, and yet, suddenly, she felt like she could no longer see him clearly.
Five years of unrequited love, five years of marriage; she had left such long footprints in his life, but now, for an unfounded crime, he wanted to cast her into the abyss.
"Isn't it enough to go after me alone?"
Violet looked at Noah with tear-stained eyes, "Why target the Don Family! My parents have treated you like their own son. What has our Don Family done to wrong you?"
"The death of Amy is the worst thing your Don Family has done to me..."
Noah Bates clenched Violet's chin fiercely, smiling like an evil spirit crawled out of Hell, "Forcing me by crafty means to marry you wasn't enough, now you even want her life. Violet Don, I'm not as cruel as you!"
Like a bucket of cold water poured over her head, Violet trembled all over, "Is this how you see me?"
"In my eyes?"
Noah laughed as if he had heard a joke, his hate-filled gaze sweeping across Violet's face, "You think you deserve to be in my eyes? Violet Don, you think too highly of yourself. Starting today, you will pay the price for Amy's death!"
The heavy rain started outside, the large raindrops hitting the window with crisp sounds. As the sound of the rain intensified, so did the coldness in Violet's heart. In an agonizing voice, she murmured, "Noah Bates, if you one day realize you have wronged me..."
A sudden pang of sorrow struck Noah's heart, but the man quickly reverted to his heartless demeanor, with only his eyes shining with a vivid hatred, "Wrong you? Violet Don, in this life, it's you who has wronged me!"
Just then, thunder exploded in the sky, buzzing in Violet's ears!
All her strength drained from her, and she stumbled back two steps. As the sound of the rain grew louder, tears cascaded down unabated. The man beside her grabbed the contract and slammed the door as he left. The moment the door closed, it was as if two worlds had been completely isolated.
From then on, her world fell apart.
