Evercrest Vampire Truth

Chapter 14: Being the best but never wanting it

She woke up but she knew that she was still asleep. Terese had changed the look once again. Before it was a vast purple desert with tall purple sand dunes as far as the eye could see. That had made for interesting and exhausting training.

Before that it was a vast ocean with a mountainous terrain just below the surface. She had quickly learned how to cast with limited oxygen then she learned how to cast a spell on herself so that she could breathe under water.

Before that they were on a different planet with low gravity. That one was hard. A few times she thought she might send herself into outer space.

This time there were two brilliant white stars in the sky, but it was not hot. Lush grass surrounded her and flowed out in all directions as far as she could see. Flowers of varying colors dotted the area.

Why would she bring her to such a beautiful place?

"I didn't bring you here. You brought me. Your power continues to amaze me."

Terese stood just behind her looking out at the vast grass plane.

"I couldn't have brought us here. I would have had a forest over there and a lake, with comfortable places to sit there."

As she spoke her pointing finger slowly lowered. Everything she wanted appeared as she wanted. Her throat went dry.

Terese moved passed her towards the lake.

"Come on. Let's see how comfortable these seats are."

They were very comfortable. They were made of smoothed river stones and there was a dense layer of moss on them that made it feel like you were sitting on thick cushions.

Suzan was flabbergasted. Terese had explained how she created the space and how she brought her here but she never thought she would use it unintentionally like this. She was suddenly very nervous.

"Don't worry. It must be a part of your innate abilities and you wanted to speak to me about something. I am not sure that you could even experience backlash with your magic. What did you want to talk to me about?"

"Nothing that I know of."

Terese found an interesting gold and pink fruit and she was examining it with a frown. She held it in her palm and consumed it like the ancient vampire she was. She then looked at Suzan with a frown.

Terese sighed. "You had to have wanted something to do all of this. Aren't you close to the prince's home by now?"

"Yes we will be there tomorrow. Oh! The whimmer wills."

Terese sat up in her seat. "Whimmer wills?"

"Yes I saved three today. Powerful ones, and they all want to walk with me in some way. I can probably have one as a familiar…"

"Why only one?"

Suzan had been looking out over the lake as she spoke so she was a little perplexed when she saw another gold and pink fruit in Terese's hand.

"Because they are very strong. I can probably only handle one."

She watched Terese consume the second fruit.

Terese looked around the dreamscape.

"You did all of this and you feel like you could not handle three familiars right now?"

She shook her head.

"This is not easy magic."

She held up another fruit. Suzan frowned, she found herself looking around for a tree.

"why do you keep eating these fruit?"

"why do you keep giving them to me?"

"Giving?..."

"Do you see a tree?"

"I believe that you think I need these." She consumed the third fruit with a shrug. "If you feel I should eat them I will eat them.

"Take two whimmer wills as familiars and take the strongest as a soulmate.

"You Two would help each other to grow, although you don't need that."

Rachel nodded absent-mindedly.

Terese stood.

"Come on. You are getting too powerful too quickly. Let me teach you how to hide your abilities."

Suzan stood quickly. Suddenly training became very important to her.

"I am going to teach you how to essentially do this in reverse. A person is usually taught how to achieve this through meditation first and then you move from there to do it in any situation. But I think you can grasp this if I teach you this way and then you can instantly do this and you will be ready for the royal interrogators."

Suzan just exhaled deeply. She refused to even think about that now.

"Okay. To mute or dampen your abilities and hide your power level, which you already do, you need to cap everything with the finest mesh sieve you can make. Only people like you can sense trickling magics."

As Terese spoke Suzan essentially became invisible to her. She could not sense anything. Terese found herself wondering just how fine of a mesh sieve did she create.

"How do I protect someone insanely overpowered. My job is obsolete."

Terese consumed another fruit.

Elsbeth and Marlon were training. Ancient vampires, for the most part only use nature magic. Bodyguards on the other hand were well versed in weaponry and hand to hand combat. Elsbeth and Marlon were no exception.

They were both breathing heavily with a fine misting of sweat lightly covering their skin. Elsbeth frowned and Marlon looked at her questioningly.

"Suzan has gone dreamwalking again."

"Oh." Marlon shrugged and assumed a defensive positon.

"Why do you not worry about her. She is our charge."

"Why do you worry about her? She is more powerful than all of us put together. All we really need to do is clean that innocence off of her."

Elsbeth stood looking at him slack jawed.

He shrugged again. She pursed her lips and moved to walk away.

"I apologize. I do worry about her that is why I try to make sure she understands the rules as much as possible. He loves her too much. If something happens to her it would not be good."

Elsbeth nodded her agreement.

"Am I forgiven?"

"Not really but we can safely move on."

Marlon smiled. "I never really liked doing what was safe."

Elsbeth returned his smile. "Liar."

"Hmm. Now that wasn't nice."

He started slowly walking toward her.

"What do you want?"

"You know."

Elsbeth frowned. "We're on duty."

Marlon scoffed. "We are probably protecting two of the strongest people in Evercrest. They will be fine."

He kissed her.

"Well they are asleep." She let him kiss her over and over again until she felt a little dizzy.

He looked at her for a long time, his hands continually moving over her body. It had been a long time. When they were out they were all about work about guarding. It wasn't until they returned home that they allowed themselves moments of distraction.

He had started taking off her clothes and it wasn't until she felt is mouth on a sensitive nipple that she realized.

Elsbeth loved this man but she was a stern by the book warrior. She instantly snapped out of her daze and picked up her clothes.

"Not here Marlon!"

His smile was devious but he quickly helped her dress. He was patient and she would be taking a shower soon.
