Chapter 11: Learning and the plot is going on.
Author note 1:
Hi guys.
Thanks for the 300k views and the 2000+ collections and all the Powerstones.
We were high in the "collect" ranking a couple of days ago.
Can believe more than two thousand people have this in their library, thank you very much.
So enjoy this new chapter and please read the second author note at the end i will be talking about the story a bit and my ideas from a new fanfic when i finish this one.
-----------------
-Samuel Pov-
Sitting in my home, drinking orange juice. My house is always peaceful and quiet.
I keep thinking about the talk I had with a smile. That was fun to do, not gonna lie.
Guess Issei right now will be working, handing out pamphlets for free. Pfff, poor dude.
Good thing he won't get ganked this time by Kalawarner for obvious reasons. The luck of this poor dude... He got ganked by Raynare, then Dhonaseek, then Kalawarner ganked his ass in canon, but not now, thanks to yours truly.
Then he got ganked by Freed... then Raynare again. Really an unlucky protagonist. Can't catch a break, haha.
Why not call Mittelt and do the whole package from this volume? Heh. Just kidding.
Letting out a small laugh, I keep generating gold bars with Momo's quirk. They fall to the floor while I drink my juice.
"This is a good amount for now." Almost 200. I stop for now and put my shirt on again.
I put all the gold bars in the magic storage I developed with my magic. Thanks again, Le Fay, and her incredible potential.
As expected of a member of THE Noble House of England. Keep going, girl.
Not a crazy big storage, but it will work for now... I can make it bigger later.
The gacha gave me inventory slots for only the items it gives me... okay, I guess? Worse is nothing.
Not a problem anyway. This is a magical world, so magic storages are a common thing. Items or magic.
And I have infinite money right now, so maybe I'll buy some items to investigate later and maybe replicate them.
I was thinking of going to Tokyo for a short visit to "the magical side" of the city its not that far from Kuoh. go there and watch some stores, etc.
Let's do it the day after tomorrow.
I need to do something before that little trip...
Basically, I need to watch how Raynare uses that "machine/device" to take Asia's Sacred Gear. I already have a good idea of how to do it myself, but it doesn't hurt to watch the thing in action.
I'm not going to miss the opportunity to see what I want to replicate in action.
So the plan is to go there... look from afar at the whole thing. Obviously using magic so that I am not detected, plus the divine protection of Reinhard that is always helping me out. I'm not going to become complacent.
After that, I go fast to Tokyo, spend a couple of hours looking, and come back before school.
That should do it.
Time to go to bed. Tomorrow, I have classes. sigh
-----------------
Finally, that class is over. Thanks dead god, recreation time.
Fucking classes.
Fucking Japanese education system is crazy! No wonder some people kill themselves because of this. I'm this close to asking Sona for privileges in the school.
I need to bullshit her, of course, saying she owes me for the information, goodwill, and blablabla.
Oh fuck, look who's coming... there goes my break.
"Lancaster, can we sit here?" the redhead potential woman asks me.
"No, piss off," I say to the two of them... I hear some murmurs and laughs in the cafeteria.
Hell, first time I came here, and this happens. I wasted all my luck in the gacha.
"Ara ara~~ Lancaster, you should treat your seniors well," the raven-haired girl says playfully.
You should treat your father well, girl.
I almost said that to her in reflex. It's kinda an open secret. Devilnet and all of that.
Not answering them, Rias makes a short frown, then a smile. Both girls decide to sit at my table anyway.
Women.
Looking around, I see the people going back to their business.
"Gremory, Himejima, what do you two want?" I ask the duo.
"We want to get to know our cute junior better. Ufufu~~" Akeno says with a hint of flirting.
I roll my eyes at her and keep eating my food.
"Lancaster—no, can I call you Samuel?" Trying to get close, huh? Old tricks in negotiations... or whatever this is.
"No." I don't give her an inch.
"..." Rias.
"Maybe Sam-kun~?" Akeno teases.
It's been a long while since someone called me that. The old Samuel had friends in his childhood, and sometimes they called him that.
Sorry, girl, you are not worthy of saying that blessed nickname.
If someone calls me "Sam-chan," I swear to god...
"If you call me that, I will call you Baraquiel's daughter from now on." I know I'm going a bit far... but hey, she is trying to get a reaction out of me. That is my thing, girl.
After I throw those words, Akeno widens her eyes. Rias too, plus her mouth turns into an "O."
Akeno's whole behavior changes... from the teasing and perfect Yamato Nadeshiko One-san that always smiles to a cold face with no smile.
"What did you say?" Akeno looks at me with dangerous eyes.
"Audition problems?" I tease her back.
I think this is the first truly angry face I've seen here... never expected it to be from her.
"Heh~ Scary~" I do my best impersonation of one of Alex Mercer's moments in the second game to get a reaction out of her even more.
I'm confident I could win an Oscar if I wanted.
Of course, she gets even angrier.
Both Akeno and I keep looking into each other's eyes until Rias intervenes.
"Akeno... we talked earlier about how we would do things, remember?" Rias says quickly, stopping her Queen from doing something they both would regret.
So this confirms it, huh? Probably the whole "enter my peerage" thing again. I roll my eyes.
"Rias..." With one last glare from her, she looks away and starts ignoring me. Yep, let Rias do the talking... she is dumb, so she will mess up.
"Lancaster, that was rude on your part, and how... how do you know that? If you don't mind me asking," she says, cautious now, I see.
"She was getting a bit annoying trying to get a reaction, so I poked her where it hurts." Akeno scoffs loudly, but I continue, "And everyone knows in the magical world. Did you forget the Devilnet, Gremory? It was your race's invention, after all." I say with a Cheshire smile.
Both girls widen their eyes.
"O-oh," Rias eloquently says.
"Oh, indeed," I say. "So it's no surprise I know a thing or two about you guys... The internet is crazy, you know? You are a famous demon pillar, sister of the Maou, and of course, your title... Crimson Ruin Princess." A joking tone in the last one.
Rias eye twitches at that.
"I know my turf, Gremory," I say with a smirk.
Rias lets out a long sigh after my words.
"Why not join my peerage? It's full of advantages and opportunities. Devils are immortal, after all. You will not lack anything anymore if you join me," she says, putting on her best saleswoman smile. Not beating around the bush anymore, huh?
This confirms it for me... she is not as bad as other people portray... not a mastermind manipulator... she is just plain dumb.
"I can give you the whole list if you want... all the reasons why it's a bad idea to join your peerage. Can you listen to me first?" I give her a calm smile.
I'm about to do a Rias bashing in real life. I'm so sorry. I was not looking for this, believe me, but... but... this is a golden opportunity presented on a silver plate... and I will have so much fun!
I will never forgive myself if I let this go.
"O-of course, please, Lancaster. Maybe we can work out those problems and solve them," she says with a hopeful smile. Her eyes light up a bit.
Look at that face. Unaware of the cooking I will do to her.
Even Akeno looks my way. Huhu, not mad anymore? Trying to help out your King?
"Peerages are a disgusting pyramid scam in disguise," I say calmly.
"T-that's not—" Rias starts, but I interrupt her.
"I'm not finished," I cut her off.
"Devil society is shit. All noble pillars have the power, and the majority of them are worthless trash who always try to fuck over the lower castes. Hell, some of them treat their peerage members horribly." Throwing those words in disgust.
"N-not me! I treat my peerage like my own family. I will—" I cut her off again.
"I was under the impression you would listen first?" I say, tilting my head.
She closes her eyes and nods at me, so I continue.
"If you are a low-class devil, you will be treated like shit even if you have, for example, the Boosted Gear." I jab at her and Issei.
Her eye twitches again.
"I will never be the slave of someone. Not you. Not anyone. I would rather die standing than live on my knees. I don't care if you treat your peerage members like family. A slave is a slave," I say, looking her in the eyes.
Yeah, imagine I go to someone and tell them, 'Sup, wanna be my slave for eternity? Don't worry, I will treat you like family.' Fucking stupid girl.
Rias only looks down.
Akeno bites her lip... angry at my comment or me... or both.
"When you become a reincarnated devil, your lifespan increases a lot... it was 10,000 years or something like that? Anyway, it's not immortality. Get your facts straight, girl. It's just an increase in lifespan. Immortality doesn't exist."
I genuinely believe that. There is always a way to defeat someone. Riser, for example.
"Besides, I'm too strong to enter your peerage. You are weak and don't even have enough pieces to do the deal." Of course, I'm leaving out the mutated pieces. Let's not talk about it and give her ideas, hehe.
"I'm a high-class devil," Rias says, glaring at me, trying to gain some foothold in the conversation.
"You are a fraud, Rias Gremory," I point my finger at her playfully.
"Excuse me?" she says slowly.
"You are excused." Without missing a beat and looking at her exasperated face, I continue, "What I mean is, you are high-class because of your noble birth... but right now, in terms of power, you are mid-class at best. That's why you're a fraud high-class, like many other young devils of your age." I throw her the news.
This time, Rias bites her lip.
"If you were truly high-class, you'd deal easily with someone like Riser… You have the superior bloodline, after all. A trained user of the Power of Destruction would never lose to a dumbfuck like Riser, no matter his regenerative abilities." Time to throw some light at her… I'm not a heartless bastard. But it's up to her to change.
This time, she makes a complicated expression while looking down.
Akeno is glaring daggers at me. Bro, it's kinda impactful to see characters that normally have their eyes closed, and then BAM! They open them wide for some reason… It's a small surprise right now. Its such an anime thing.
"Y-you know that too?" Rias mutters.
"Devilnet." I keep bullshitting them with that excuse.
"Last point… you are dumb," I say lightly with a smile.
"HA!?" She reacts with a confused and exasperated face.
Pfff, that face. This is funny and a bit cathartic, not gonna lie.
"It's the impression I have of you, and I confirmed it right now… Listen, your peerage members are weak." This time, I feel like, for the first time, she's getting truly angry. However, I decide to continue my point.
"They don't train, or they don't train enough, or for some reason, they use their capabilities poorly. I don't care what the reason is, Gremory, but they have the potential to defeat Riser alone. I can feel it in them. I know Issei is new, but for fuck's sake, you have the Red Dragon Emperor on your side." Again, I throw some light on their situation. Maybe every member can surpass their own trauma if she gets proactive.
"Whatever the reason, it's a dumb mistake on your part, and as King, it's your responsibility. Maybe do something and try to fix it?" She can't be that dumb and just do nothing after I said all of this, right?
Akeno is listening too, so please, girl… You're not that dumb, so do something about it. Help out your best friend.
I stand up with my empty plate.
I look, and both girls are staring down, dark frowns on their faces.
"Think about it." And with that, I leave the two silent girls behind.
Damn, still a couple of classes left to end the day.
-----------------
Classes finally end, and I walk through the familiar streets I always take on my way home.
So today, Issei meets Asia, they fight Viser, and he's gonna get his ass ganked by Freed. Tomorrow is the day.
I keep walking, looking at the blue sky.
"The plot is going on, huh," I say as I continue walking.
-----------------
-Time skip to tomorrow afternoon-
After another boring day of classes, I head home quickly. Everything is ready now.
Night is falling—just a couple of hours, and everything will be set on stage.
Time to head to the old church and take a peek at Raynare's device.
I mask my essence with magic, add a good old invisibility spell, and throw in Reinhard's divine protection of stealth for good measure.
That should do it.
Everyone there is either low-class or mid-class, so there's no real danger of getting caught. I double-check anyway—always better safe than sorry.
Time to go.
Magic flows through my body, and I teleport high into the sky. Below me is the church.
Looking down, I spot Rias and Akeno talking with Mittelt in one area, while Issei, Kiba, and Koneko prepare to enter the church.
Rias and Akeno will have it easier now for obvious reasons—their fight will be a two-on-two.
I follow Issei's group, silent as a ghost. Not a sound.
No need to interfere right now. They can handle this.
But if something unpredictable happens... I'll act from the shadows.
Too early to completely break canon—I still need the semblance of the plot for now.
My only objective is to watch the process of extracting the Sacred Gear. Fill in the gaps.
Once I fully understand how it works, I'll be able to take 100% of the spoils from my enemies.
The process is short, as I recall—just a couple of seconds, and that's it. Afterward, maybe I'll buy myself something nice in Tokyo. Heh.
I stop for a moment to observe a particular individual in the fight ahead.
Freed Sellzen.
A secondary crazy villain. Walking red flags everywhere. Murderer, rapist...etc.
Basically, a discount, way-inferior version of Dante.
I watch as Kiba and Freed exchange sword slashes, then Issei charges in for a punch.
Yeah, I could kill Freed easily now, even after he "escapes" with his flashbang. But it's not the right moment. He'll die in the Kokabiel fight.
He's dead man walking.
As expected, the events play out the same way—Freed escapes from the trio.
"Here." Koneko says in her monotone voice before punching the church's ambon, destroying it in the process.
The stairs to the basement are revealed, and they quickly decide to head down to save Asia.
Following behind, I slip into a dark corner of that creepy basement.
In front of me, Asia is chained to that cross-shaped device. Some sort of ritual is already in progress.
'Azazel is a bloody genius.'
After watching the machine and the ritual, it's no wonder. Well, he is obsessed with Sacred Gears.
'It's happening.'
I focus every sense I have on watching the extraction process, filling in the blanks.
If I can understand it, I'll be able to take Sacred Gears for myself.
While Asia screams in agony, I see her Twilight Healing being pulled from her soul—manifesting as two glowing silver rings with a green aura.
'As expected… this confirms everything.'
The device lacks the finesse to extract a Sacred Gear without killing the host.
Asia is already weakened, both mentally and physically, making the process easier.
What a weird sight. Through my eyes and senses, I can see it—the Sacred Gear is hooked to her soul, then brutally yanked out. No wonder she's at death's door.
I see… I see… Makes sense.
Pull too hard, and the host dies.
So if I want them to survive, I need finesse.
Not that it matters. I'm only taking Sacred Gears from villains. I'll just beat the crap out of them and claim the spoils.
Doubt they'll let me touch their soul and wait patiently while I extract their Sacred Gear, hehe.
I watch as Raynare embeds Twilight Healing into her own soul.
'I see. The difficult part is pulling it out. But once it's free, attaching it to a new soul is easy.'
I've learned a lot here.
Then, right on cue, Raynare starts yapping about becoming a Cadre with this Sacred Gear.
Bruh.
No wonder Issei beats her in one punch.
That's all I needed. I turn and head toward the exit, moving up the stairs quickly.
But… I'm curious about something.
What if Issei actually kills Raynare when he gets the chance, instead of leaving it to Rias?
I told him to do it two days ago. If he does, he'll overcome his trauma faster and mature. If not… well, he'll stay the simple and stupid protagonist everyone knows.
Time to wait and see how this plays out.
Positioning myself outside the church, I watch through a window. Clear view of the next event.
Everything follows canon. Issei snaps. Boosted Gear evolves. Raynare gets one-punched and dragged back to the church by Koneko.
Gotta admit—it's got a certain charm, seeing these scenes in real life. Watching it on a screen is one thing, but being here…damn.
Uh oh… Raynare's begging for mercy in her Yuuma form.
Issei steps closer… Is this it?
I focus, enhancing my hearing to catch every word.
"Buchou. I leave it to you." Issei says, turning away.
I see. Just like canon, huh?
Guess I was wrong to expect anything different from him.
Then your trauma stays with you for a little while longer. Good luck, Issei.
I carefully rise into the air, high enough to stay unnoticed, and fly away.
"To tokyo." I said to myself.

Author notes 2:
I already have a final for this fanfic—not written, of course, hehe, but thought out already. I threw some hints in previous chapters about what will happen in the future.
I even have a theme song for the MC, and I promise you, it's fucking FIRE.
I will put it in youtube for you guys after peak moment happens.
Sooooo, let's talk about the next fanfic I have in mind after I finish Forsaken Regalia.
It will be a RWBY fanfic.
A CYOA RWBY (I modified it to my tastes).
Why a RWBY fanfic? Well, I believe RWBY after Volume 3 is trash.
And that's why fanfics of that franchise are so popular... it's not difficult to make something better, new, or interesting.
And I like the characters from RWBY (not all of them). The interactions are funny and can offer a lot for fanfics.
But before that, I need to do a difficult task and a herculean effort.
The difficult task is finishing this fic first. I will never write two or more fanfics at the same time.
Multiple fics at the same time are the downfall of authors.
The herculean task will be rewatching ALL RWBY content... Bro, I have flashes of the new volumes I watched some time ago, and I want to end myself over how BAD they are.
Thinking of watching all of that again... sigh. Wish me luck.
But I will do it. I really, really want to do a RWBY fic after this.
See you in the next chapter, guys.
