Chapter 40: CHAPTER 40 APPERENTICESHIP
"Your task is to turn this piece of metal into a useful blade. Show me if you are worthy of following the path of smithery and add the title 'Divine' to your name."
Master Wang instructed,
Huang Yong nodded, .
With a deep breath, Huang Yong began his work. He heated the metal in the roaring forge until it glowed a fiery orange, then hammered it into shape on the anvil.
Huang Yong labored over his creation. He quenched the blade in a vat of icy water, hardening the steel. He polished the surface until it gleamed like a mirror, then crafted a sturdy handle from polished bone.
Finally, after two days the blade was complete. Huang Yong presented it to Master Wang,

Master Wang examined the blade with a critical eye, running his fingers along the edge, testing its weight and balance.
A long silence fell between them. Then, Master Wang smiled. "You have done well, Yong,"
He said. "This blade is a testament to your skill and dedication. You are worthy of following the path of smithery."
With a nod of approval, Master Wang reached out and touched the blade. A soft glow emanated from the metal, and a single word appeared etched into its surface: "Divine."
"Master Wang, is this truly worthy of the title 'Divine'?"
Master Wang smiled, he replied, "The true value of a blade lies not in its outward appearance or its magical properties, but in the spirit that goes into its creation."
Master Wang reached out and placed a hand on Huang Yong's shoulder.
"Remember," he said, "the greatest weapons are not those that possess supernatural powers, but those that are forged with the spirit of a true craftsman. Your blade may not be a mythical artifact, but it is a testament to your skill, your dedication, and your potential."
"You have a natural talent for smithing, Yong," Master Wang said, his voice filled with wonder. "I've taught many apprentices over the years, but none have shown such a quick grasp of the fundamentals."
"Your blade is a testament to your innate ability. It shows that you have a gift, a spark of divine inspiration that sets you apart."
Master Wang's voice grew more earnest. "My heart trembles at the thought of what you could achieve if I were to teach you all I know. With your talent and my guidance, you could become a legendary smith, a master of your craft."
He looked directly at Huang Yong, his eyes searching for a sign of hesitation. "Tell me, Yong," he asked, his voice filled with hope, "are you willing to study under me and become my only direct disciple?"
Master Wang's question plunged Huang Yong into a deep dilemma. When he first arrived in Gengxin City, he had merely intended to get a few items forged. Now, a renowned blacksmith was offering him the opportunity to become his apprentice.
Huang Yong was silent for a few moments, his mind racing with thoughts. He didn't want to have a teacher. He feared that if his future enemies threatened his teacher, it would give them leverage over him.
It felt hypocritical to want to learn knowledge that someone had spent their lifetime acquiring without giving them the respect they deserved. Huang Yong despised people who acted this way. He didn't want to become like them.
With this thought, Huang Yong bent his knees to bow and accept Master Wang as his teacher.
[SYSTEM WARNING]
[IT IS DETECTED THE HOST IS ABOUT TO BOW IN FRONT OF SOME BEING WHO IS NOT RECOGNISED BY THE SYSTEM]
[PLEASE SPECIFY THE IDENTIFY OF THAT PERSON OR THE SYSTEM WILL UNBIND]
The system notification sent a shockwave through Huang Yong. If he bowed before any being without specifying their identity and if they had the right to accept his bow, the system might unbind.
'System, the one I am about to bow to will be my teacher in the future. Let me perform the rituals of apprenticeship.' Huang Yong said, his voice filled with determination.
["HOU RONG" ALIAS "MASTER WANG" HAS BEEN RECOGNISED AS THE TEACHER OF HOST]
Finally, Huang Yong knelt before Master Wang, bowing his head in respect. He recognized Master Wang as his teacher.
"Yong, I can see that you are a very proud young man. Even though you have no noble lineage, you carry a noble aura around you. Today, I, Hou Rong, accept you as my only disciple and will pass on to you all the knowledge I have acquired in my life," Master Wang said.
Huang Yong and Master Wang celebrated Huang Yong's apprenticeship with a lavish dinner. Master Wang decided to start teaching Huang Yong the true art of smithing the following day.
