Douluo Dalu: Eclipse de Almas

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Island of the Sea God.

The portal sucked them in in an instant, surrounding them with an abyss of light and spiritual energy. Xu Tian, Yue Lian and Tang San felt their bodies being pushed by an invisible current, as if they were being swept along by a heavenly river.

Suddenly, the pressure disappeared, and they gently fell onto firm ground. They opened their eyes to find a completely different landscape than the one they had left behind.

The Sea God Island was a place of unearthly magnificence. Gigantic trees, their leaves shining with a faint blue glow, towered up into a sky completely covered in stars, even though it was daytime. The waters surrounding the island were so clear that it seemed like the sky and sea had merged into one.

In the centre of the island, a colossal tower rose into the sky, its surface covered in runes that shone with a golden light.

"This place… feels alive," Yue Lian whispered, her voice filled with wonder.

Tang San nodded, his gaze fixed on the tower. "The spiritual energy here is incredibly dense. It's as if the air itself is charged with the Sea God's will."

Xu Tian, however, did not let his guard down. His hand remained on the hilt of his sword as he scanned the surroundings. "If this is the Sea God's domain, then we are not alone. Something is watching us."

---

As they explored, a group of figures emerged from the forest. There were seven people, each radiating a powerful and uniform aura. They wore blue ceremonial robes adorned with symbols of waves and stars.

"Welcome to the Sea God's Island," said the leader of the group, a tall woman with eyes bright as the ocean. "We are the Seven Guardians of the Sea. Our mission is to protect this place and test those who dare to enter."

Xu Tian frowned. "Another test? Were the portal guardians not enough?"

The woman shook her head, an enigmatic smile on her face. "That was just the entrance. Now the real challenge begins. Each of you must pass a specific test assigned by the Sea God. Only those who prove themselves worthy will be allowed to remain on the island."

Tang San stepped forward, his expression calm but determined. "What are these tests? And what happens if we fail?"

"The tests are different for each individual, based on their martial spirit and potential. If they fail, they must leave the island immediately… or face the trial of the sea."

Yue Lian exchanged a glance with Xu Tian. "We have no choice. If we wish to advance, we must accept them."

"Correct," the leader of the Guardians said. "Now, approach the central altar and receive your tests."

---

At the heart of the island was an altar surrounded by crystal clear water. The runes on the surface of the altar glowed with a pulsating light, as if responding to the group's presence.

One by one, Xu Tian, Yue Lian, and Tang San placed their hands on the altar. Immediately, a voice echoed in their minds, deep and authoritative, like the roar of the ocean.

"Xu Tian, bearer of the Sun of Dawn. Your test will be to face the Guardian of Twilight and prove that you can illuminate even the deepest darkness."

"Yue Lian, bearer of the Eternal Moon. Your test will be to master the balance between light and shadow, facing your own nature."

"Tang San, master of the Blue Silver Grass. Your test will be to protect your allies while facing the Spirit of the Eternal Tide."

As the voices faded, the altar emitted a burst of light that enveloped each one, transporting them to separate locations within the island.

Xu Tian's Test: Guardian of Twilight

Xu Tian appeared in a dark valley, where sunlight barely penetrated. In front of him, a gigantic figure emerged from the shadows: a warrior clad in black armor, with red eyes glowing like embers.

"So you are the Guardian of Twilight," Xu Tian muttered, unsheathing his sword. "Let's see what you're made of."

The Guardian didn't reply, but raised his black sword, the blade of which seemed to absorb the valley's meager light. With a roar, he charged towards Xu Tian with surprising speed.

Xu Tian barely had time to block, his feet sinking into the ground from the force of the impact. "He's strong… but not invincible."

Focusing his solar energy, Xu Tian launched a counterattack, illuminating the valley with a golden flash. However, every blow he landed seemed to be absorbed by the Guardian's darkness.

"I'll have to use more than brute force," he thought, activating his third and fourth spirit rings. His sword began to burn with greater intensity, emitting solar flames that spread across the battlefield.

Yue Lian's Test: The Moon Mirror

Yue Lian was transported to a clearing illuminated by the light of a giant moon, despite the sky being completely clear. In front of her was a perfectly still lake, its surface reflecting everything around it… including a duplicate of herself.

"What kind of trick is this?" she muttered, but before she could react, her reflection stepped out of the water, facing her with a cold gaze.

The reflection spoke, its voice identical to Yue Lian's, but laden with contempt. "You are weak. Dependent on others. How do you expect to achieve balance when you don't even trust your own strength?"

Yue Lian clenched her fists, summoning her bow of light. "I don't need your words to know who I am. I will prove my worth."

The reflection laughed, summoning an identical bow. "Then fight… yourself."
