Chapter 81: Chapter 81: "Cowardly and Pathetic—Trash!"
Tang San's outward calm barely concealed his growing anger. When Ning Rongrong exposed Yu Xiaogang's theories as plagiarized and even dangerous, it hit him hard.
So, he thought, I'm just an experiment to him?
The fact that he hadn't erupted on the spot was already an act of restraint. But internally, Yu Xiaogang had firmly landed on Tang San's mental "must-kill" list.
Disgusting.
While others kept their thoughts to themselves, Ma Hongjun was indifferent to the tension.
"Anyone want to head into the city? We finally get a day off—I'm going to wander around Soto City."
Oscar yawned and waved him off.
"No thanks, I'm going back to catch up on sleep. Finally hit level 30—time to take it easy for a bit."
Hearing this, the three girls exchanged glances, already guessing Ma Hongjun's less-than-innocent reasons for heading into the city.
Tang San unexpectedly spoke up.
"I'll go with you."
Ma Hongjun's eyes lit up, and he stole a glance at Xiao Wu's slightly changed expression.
"Old Three, you're starting to open up, huh?"
Tang San froze for a moment, realizing the implication, and quickly explained,
"Open up to what? I'm just going to find a blacksmith to see if I can hire a couple of smiths to make something."
Xiao Wu, ever the concerned friend, interjected immediately.
"Tang San, don't let him lead you astray. It's... unsanitary!"
Tang San smiled warmly at her concern.
"Don't worry, Xiao Wu. I'd never do something like that. I'm pure, you know!"
His words prompted a round of laughter from the group—not because they doubted him, but because proclaiming one's own purity sounded so ridiculous.
After the brief humor subsided, they let the matter drop.
As Tang San and Ma Hongjun left, Ning Rongrong leaned over to whisper to Xiao Wu,
"Aren't you worried Ma Hongjun will corrupt your friend?"
Xiao Wu chuckled and replied,
"Tang San's... different. He's never shown interest in such things. Even if he does get 'corrupted,' it's his choice. I've already warned him."
Satisfied with Xiao Wu's response, Ning Rongrong nodded and said no more. Instead, she turned to Yun Feng with a serious expression.
"Thank you for helping me earlier."
Yun Feng shook his head with a faint smile.
"No need for thanks. You're my benefactor after all. But honestly, Rongrong, you should think things through more carefully before acting.
"If Flender and the others ever lose their cool, you'll be the one at a disadvantage. Faraway support won't help you in a pinch."
Ning Rongrong pondered his words and finally nodded, meeting Yun Feng's gaze with gratitude.
"I understand now. Thank you."
Yun Feng waved dismissively and turned to leave. But before he could go far, he heard Dai Mubai's voice calling out to Zhu Zhuqing.
"Zhuqing!"
Zhu Zhuqing glanced at him briefly.
"I'm going to train," she said flatly, turning to leave.
Dai Mubai quickly stepped forward to block her path again.
"Can we talk? I remember the Zhuqing from our childhood wasn't like this."
Zhu Zhuqing smirked coldly.
"And were you like this in our childhood? Indulgent, cowardly, shirking responsibility—pathetic! Trash!"
With a derisive snort, she turned and left without looking back, leaving Dai Mubai staring at her retreating figure. The ice-cold barrier between them seemed unbreakable.
Watching her leave, Dai Mubai didn't chase after her. His face twisted in resentment and self-pity.
"Is this my karma? The great, dashing Dai Mubai brought down to this? Ha, karma... maybe it really is karma."
His lament drew incredulous reactions from those nearby.
"Did Yun Feng punch some sense out of him last time?" someone muttered.
Soto City
As soon as they arrived, Ma Hongjun split off from Tang San, eager to deal with his "evil fire." Though he made several attempts to drag Tang San along, the latter's willpower remained steadfast.
The stark contrast in maturity between the two twelve-year-olds was apparent.
Soto City bustled as usual. It was mid-morning, and the shops had already opened for business. The lively streets stood in stark contrast to the quiet of Shrek Academy.
Tang San's goal was simple: find a suitable blacksmith to manufacture parts for his hidden weapons.
With his current level of strength, enhancing his combat ability through hidden weapons was his best option. If worse came to worst, he thought grimly, he could at least drag Yu Xiaogang down with him.
In his past life as a Tang Sect disciple, Tang San had been responsible for crafting hidden weapons. Before his death, he'd risen to the position of Outer Sect Supervisor and was intimately familiar with their production processes.
The Tang Sect had relied on the sale of poisons and hidden weapons for its financial stability. Now, Tang San planned to bring that model to the Douluo Continent.
While the transition wouldn't be easy, he was confident in his ability to adapt. For now, he aimed to start small by partnering with a blacksmith to produce parts for assembly.
Tang San had no intention of revealing the complete manufacturing process to outsiders. By outsourcing only the component production and handling the final assembly himself, he could maintain secrecy.
No blacksmith would be able to replicate his designs—or even know what they were meant to create.
Yun Feng awoke from his cultivation as the first rays of sunlight painted the sky golden.
Taking a deep breath, he felt the peak of his vitality and energy, a clear sign of progress. Ever since returning from the Star Dou Forest, he had finally restored his original strength.
Hungry, he headed toward the cafeteria, where a rich aroma of meat and spices greeted him.
Upon entering, he spotted a figure bustling around the kitchen.
Wearing a white chef's hat and managing several pots over the fire, the
figure worked diligently, beads of sweat rolling down a stiff face.
It was none other than Yu Xiaogang.
