Douluo: Becoming a God by Relying on my Enemies

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Flender, So That’s Who You Meant—The Knowledge Tailor, Yu Xiaogang!

Yu Xiaogang's expression softened slightly as he realized Flender had arrived. Though he had planned to win some favor, this timing wasn't too bad—just meant Flender would have to take a bit of the blame.

"The academy's financial difficulties aren't my concern. But now that I've decided to stay as a teacher, I absolutely won't let the students suffer."

"Flender, leave this matter to me. From now on, I'll decide what these children eat for every meal."

Flender smirked.

"What's this, Xiaogang? You've decided to stay after all?"

Yu Xiaogang had indeed planned to stay since leaving Nuoding Primary Soul Master Academy. His words were merely meant to secure more authority.

"Yes. Whether it's for Tang San, Yun Feng, or the talented students you've gathered here, I've decided to remain for a while."

"These past few days, I've reviewed your current teaching methods and found many areas needing improvement.

"You told me before that if I stayed, you'd delegate authority to me. Wasn't that right?"

Flender knew Yu Xiaogang all too well. Just from his tone, he could tell his old friend was determined to make significant changes. While he showed no outward reaction, he was thrilled at the prospect.

Yu Xiaogang's theoretical knowledge was unmatched.

Afraid Yu Xiaogang might change his mind, Flender quickly agreed.

"No problem. Just keep me informed of your plans. You can assign the teachers as you see fit."

"Of course, if it involves expenses, you'll have to let me know first. The academy's finances are worse than you think."

Hearing this, Yun Feng couldn't help but laugh.

"Principal, if you're so determined to train students but refuse to put aside your pride, aren't you just holding back their growth?"

"I understand you're all proud and independent, but couldn't you adapt a little to increase revenue?

"If this keeps up, I'll be stuck eating steamed buns every day. If I get fed up and leave with Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong, where will you find such talented students again?"

Yu Xiaogang stiffened at Yun Feng's words.

He had come to Shrek for his ideals. If Yun Feng left, how would he achieve them?

Immediately, he turned to Flender and shouted,

"Flender, I don't care what you have to do. Find a way to get more funding! Yun Feng is right—if we want to train these students, we must adapt. Otherwise, you'll regret it!"

Flender looked at both Yun Feng and Yu Xiaogang, his mood souring.

It was one thing for Yu Xiaogang to criticize him—after all, they were old friends. But Yun Feng? A mere Soul Elder daring to lecture him?

He hadn't even addressed the grievances he had with Yun Feng yet!

Just as Flender was about to reprimand him, Yun Feng casually pulled out a black card from Ning Rongrong and a Spirit Hall token.

Flender's face twitched as he saw the items. For a moment, he was at a loss for words.

Finally, he let out a hollow laugh and turned back to Yu Xiaogang. He didn't dare meet Yun Feng's gaze.

"As long as it doesn't violate my principles, I'll adapt however you want. Happy now?"

"Good!"

"The principal admits his mistakes and is willing to change. That's admirable! Keep up the good work!" Yun Feng said with a mocking grin.

After breakfast, the academy's bell rang, summoning all the students to the training grounds.

The atmosphere was unusually lively today. Not only were the principal and vice-principal, Flender and Zhao Wuji, present, but Yu Xiaogang and several other teachers were there as well.

Apart from the two principals, the academy had three other teachers—those responsible for the first three entrance exam stages.

"Alright, everyone's here. I have a few announcements to make."

Flender stood before the eight students, his gaze stern as he scanned their faces.

"First, I'd like to introduce our teachers to the five new students."

He gestured to an elderly man in his sixties.

"This is Teacher Li Yusong. His martial soul is the Dragon-patterned Staff, and he's a level 63 Soul Emperor."

He then pointed to a slightly older man who appeared to be in his seventies.

"This is Teacher Lu Qibin. His martial soul is the Star Chessboard, and he's a level 66 Soul Emperor."

Finally, he indicated a middle-aged man who looked about Flender's age.

"This is Teacher Shao Xin. His martial soul is the Sugar Bean, and he's a level 71 Soul Sage—specializing in the food system."

"Among food-type soul masters, Shao Xin ranks in the top five I know of."

The first two teachers' introductions were impressive but not overwhelming. However, the mention of a level 71 food-type Soul Sage left the new students—Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, and Tang San—stunned.

Shao Xin didn't look the part. He was short, about the same height as twelve-year-old Xiao Wu, perhaps even shorter. His small eyes and large nose gave him an unremarkable appearance.

But who would have guessed that such a seemingly ordinary man was a top-tier food-type soul master?

A level 71 food-type Soul Sage would be considered a treasured expert anywhere, be it in the Spirit Hall or a noble family.

After the introductions, the three teachers nodded to the students. Li Yusong remained expressionless, while Lu Qibin smiled warmly. Shao Xin, however, wore an odd expression, his gaze fixed on Oscar with a hint of obsession.

Flender then placed his arm around Yu Xiaogang's shoulder and said,

"And finally, I'd like to give a proper introduction to this man. He's the one who developed the Ten Core Competencies of Martial Souls and is hailed as the greatest theorist and wisest soul master—Tang San's teacher.

"Yu Xiaogang, also known as the 'Grandmaster.' He's been my close friend for decades."

"Perhaps you're unfamiliar with his name, but I'm sure you've heard of his title. From now on, you may call him 'Grandmaster.'"

Hearing the title, the students' spirits lifted. Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing, being from noble families, were particularly aware of its significance.

Though Zhu Zhuqing remained reserved, Ning Rongrong, emboldened by Yun Feng's presence and her background, chuckled aloud.

"Flender, I thought you were introducing someone important. Turns out it's just Yu Xiaogang, the 'Knowledge Tailor'!"

The words caused a wave of reactions. Flender and Yu Xiaogang's faces turned red with embarrassment.

"Ning Rongrong, just because you're from the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan doesn't mean you can be so disrespectful! My old friend is no 'Knowledge Tailor'!"

Flender's anger surged but was quickly doused when Ning Rongro

ng casually pulled out a signal flare.

Left with no choice, he muttered under his breath,

"I'm doomed..."
